SYNOPSIS OF THE EXPANDED MATERNITY LEAVE (RA 11210) “An Act Increasing

The Maternity Leave Period To 105 Days For Female Workers With An Option To
Extend For An Additional 30 Days Without Pay, And Grnating An Additional 15
Days For Solo Mothers And For Other Purposes”

AND PREVIOUS LAW ON MATERNITY LEAVE (RA 7322) “An Act Increasing
Maternity Benefits In Favor Of Women Workers In The Private Sector, Amending
For The Purpose Section 14-A Of Republic Act No. 1161, As Amended, And For
Other Purposes”

1. Under the previous law, employed women are entitled to 60 days of paid leave
for normal delivery and 78 days for caesarean delivery. Under Republic Act (RA)
11210 women can now avail themselves of 105 days of paid maternity leave period
for public and private-sector workers covering every instance of pregnancy,
regardless if normal delivery or caesarean, government service.
2. The law also gives mothers the option to extend their leave for another 30 days
without pay, provided that the employer is given due notice in writing at least 45
days ahead before the end of the maternity leave which applies to every instance
of pregnancy, removing the maternity benefits provided under RA 7422 which
applies only for the first four deliveries.
3. Under the new law, women can now also opt to extend their maternity leave for
an additional 30 unpaid days, while single parents can also get an additional 15
maternity leave days.

SALIENT PROVISIONS ON THE UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE ACT

Section 3 (b) Ensures that all Filipinos are guaranteed equitable access to
quality and affordable health care goods and services and protected against
financial risk;

Section 5 and 6. Population and Service Coverage – Every Filipino Citizen shall
be automatically included into the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP)
, which shall be granted immediate eligibility and access to preventive,
promotive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative care for medical, dental,
mental and emergency health services.

Section 17. Population-based Health Services - the DOH shall endeavour to


contract province-wide and city-wide health systems for the delivery of
population – based health services.

As a Local Government Unit, we have already an enacted and


approved ordinance last year which was the SDN ordinance.

Provision Of Comprehensive Package Of Health Care Services In The Province Of Bukidnon
And Appropriating Funds Thereof.”
