Sub-Clause 7.3

Notice for Inspection

When to use

The Contractor is required to give the Employer’s Personnel full access to all parts of the site
and full opportunity to inspect, measure and/or test materials and workmanship and to check
progress of the manufacture of plant and materials whether on-site or elsewhere, including
providing facilities and equipment.

Where any work is ready and about to be covered up or packaged for storage or transport,
the Contractor has to notify the Engineer who shall, without delay, either:

 Carry out the inspection, measurement or testing; or

 Notify the Contractor that no inspection, measurement or testing is required.

If the Contractor fails to notify the Engineer, and proceeds to cover up or package the work,
the Engineer can require the Contractor to uncover it. The cost of any reinstatement and/or
making good arising from having to open up the work is borne by the Contractor.

How to Complete

Insert the name of the Contractor and description of the Works which should match the
entries in the Contract Agreement (and also the Appendix to Tender, in the case of the name
of the Contractor), Notice number and issue date.

Delete the alternative, depending on whether the work is to be examined, inspected,

measured or tested. Enter details of the Contractor’s notice and state the nature and extent of
work which is ready for inspection.

Delete the alternative paragraphs, depending on whether the notice is given to inform the
Contractor that no inspection is necessary or to require the Contractor to open up covered
work which the Engineer has not been informed that such work is ready for inspection.

The name of the Engineer should match the person named in the Appendix to Tender (or
such other person whom the Employer may appoint from time to time and has notified to the
Contractor) and the signature should be that of, or on behalf of, such named Engineer.

Who to Issue

Issue the original to the Contractor and copies to the Employer and any other relevant parties.
