VAREC 4310 SERIES
SAMPLING AND GAUGING HATCH COVERS
The 4310 Series is designed to provide quick access for product gauging, temperature measure ment or sampling.
Introduction
The 4310 Series is installed on tank roofs or
roof flanges to help provide quick access for
product gauging, temperature
measurement or sampling.
Construction
• The 4310 Series Gauge Hatches are
available in die cast 360 aluminum
construction with BUNA-N inserts as
standard. When specified, Viton®-A and
Teflon® inserts are available in lieu of
BUNA-N.
• Carbon steel base construction is
available for welding to the tank roof.
• Stainless Steel (in both sizes) and
Aluminum (in the 8" size) are also
available for flanged mounting with bolts.
• The flat faced flanges are drilled per ANSI
Class 150 dimensions.

Features
Varec 4310 Series Hatch Covers can operate
as free-opening or lock-down devices. When
used as free-opening, the aluminum cover
opens to relieve tank pressure at
approximately 1.0 oz/in2 or 1.73" WC [44 mm
WC]. The hatch cover can be locked down by
inserting a lock pin (provided as standard) in
a retaining hole between the cover and base.
While in the lock-down position, the hatch
maintains pressures up to 3 psig [20.7 kPa].
Unauthorized tank access can be prevented
with a padlock.
Varec 4310 Series Hatch Covers are
designed with a foot pedal which allows fast,
hands-free tank access for sampling and
gauging. The cover is self-aligning and
closes automatically when the foot pedal is
released.
