Suppose the motor absorbs 50 kW of average po\\'er at a porver factor (pi) of 0.8 lagging.

a) Find the complex power delivered to the motor.

b) Find the source current, source voltage, power loss in the line, and the complex po\\'er delivered by the
source.

c) Find the kVAr rating and capacitance of the capacitor to be connected across the motor to improve the

6. Three equal impedances, each having a resistance R and inductance L in series are connected in star
across a 3 phase, 400V, 50Hz supply. The power input to the load is measured by two wattmeter :

method. The readings of the two wattmeters are 5kW and 2kW. Determine the resistance and i
inductance of each impedance and also reactive power consumed by the load.

440V supply with a phase sequence of RYB clockwise. Compute the reading of the wattmeter W,
whose current coil is connected to R line and pressure coil is connected between Y and B lines. Also
find the same wattmeter reading W when 30 Cl resistance gets disconnected from the load.

phasor diagram. [8 Marks]
c) Use the values calculated in part (b) & calculate the efficiency at full load, if the core loss is
2.9kW. [4 Marks]

9. Explain the principle of working of squinel cage induction motor. Also draw the front view of stator
