Orientation Excursion
Our new Grade 8’s took part
in an Orientation Excursion
to Camp Solomon from the
15 - 17 January 2018. Our new
High school teenagers began as
a bundle of nerves, however it
soon progressed into a trip of fun,
excitement and new friendships.
Many of our Grade 8’s had never
camped before, let alone did they
know how to put up their own
tent. They learnt very quickly!
Despite average temperatures
of about 35 degrees, a great
time was had by all. They took
part in various activities to
help develop their leadership
skills, responsibility and most
importantly to bond as a grade.
The Grade 8’s returned to school
feeling rather exhausted but
happily initiated into the start of
their High School Career.

optimistic, despite the tough competition thrown at
them. We played schools such as: Port Natal, South City,
Curro Hillcrest, Durban Girls’ College and Our Lady of

Although, the results were not always in our favour, they
are actually not a true reflection of the immense talent
that our St Henry’s girls actually have. The losses that our
Action Netball U16B girls endured, were mere narrow losses by a point in the
last seconds of the games. The games were competitive,

On the 5 June we celebrated World Environment Day.
We encouraged all families to celebrate this day by
adopting some of the following tips on a daily basis:
• Set up a recycle station at home.
• Plant something in your garden. (or take part in the
Checkers Little Garden)
• Switch off electronic devices when they are not in use.
• When visiting a beach or park, pick up any litter in
the area.
Three beach clean ups took place this year at Blue
Lagoon. This area is a large catchment zone for waste
and is a constant struggle to keep clean. Our Enviro Club
