CHAPTER 12 PROBLEMS

1- Design a rectangular column subjected to working load = 300 ton.


Use Fcu = 250 Kg/cm2, Fy = 3600 Kg/cm2
by both working & ultimate methods.
2- Design the T-section shown in figure if it is subjected to
ultimate loads M=450 KN.m, N(Comp.) = 600 KN.
Use Fcu=25 N/mm2, Fy =360 N/mm2.
3- Design a braced column of 4.5 m height to resist an ultimate
load of 220 ton and bending moments about the secondary axes
of 10 and – 5 m.t. The column is partly fixes at both ends.
Use Fcu=250 Kg/cm2, Fy =3600 Kg/cm2.
