LESSON PLAN: TASK

Teacher: Edy Andrea Espinosa Ch. Grade: 6th Duration: 5 to 6 hours


Task: How do I save energy in my community?

Standards:
• I show understanding of simple questions about my family, my environment and me.
• I identify related words about familiar subjects.
• I answer briefly to questions “what, who, when and where,” when referring to my
family, friends and school.
• I use gestures and body movements to be better understood.

Objectives:
• Identify words and phrases related to personal information and daily activities in simple
oral and written texts.
• Exchange personal information and on daily activities in a survey.

Transversality: Environment and sustainability.


Contents: Vocabulary about sustainable actions to save energy, wh-questions,
sentences in present simple talking about habits.

1. Task introduction: Present the following question to brainstorm the students’ ideas:
how do you save energy in your región?

2. Practice: receptive skills (Speaking, listening and writing), language (Grammar-


vocaulary)

Language
Activate vocabulary using flashcards with some sustainability actions to save energy.
Then, the students imitate the actions and the others guess.
Answer some wh-questions about a video.

Listening, speaking and writing.


What sustainability actions to save energy do you practice in your region?
Discuss the question in pairs and share ideas.
Watch a short video about sustainablity activities to save energy in the world.
Write a paragraph.

3. Pedagogical task: Instructions, planning, report


Instructions
 Establish a question to introduce the topic and actívate students’ participation.
 Present vocabulary using flashcards.
 Students imitate the actions and the others guess.
 Establish another question with more specific information
 Watch a video and answer different wh-questions
 Taking onto account the video, students start a debate answering the previous
questions.
 Write a paragraph of maximun ten lines considering the information got about the
sustainable actions to save energy.

Planning
Provide enough vocabulary and ideas about the topic for the debate.
Give time to get and put in order ideas for discussing and writing.

Report
Write a paragraph about the actions to save enrgy in your región (6 to 10 lines)
Reflection on the importance of writing with purpose.

Required material: flashcards, video, dicionaries, notes of students, board and
markers.
