Intralox Sanitation Guidelines

Recommendations

Water Temperature: 47° – 54°C (120°– 140°F)


Detergent:*
Daily - chlorinated alkaline used as directed by chemical supplier
Periodic - light acid used as directed by chemical supplier to remove mineral
build up
Sanitizer - chlorine (200 ppm or less for acetal belts), quaternary
ammonium, peroxyacetic acid used as directed by chemical supplier

* NOTE: More is NOT better and can lead to corrosion and belt
degradation.

Sanitation Basics

1. Perform dry pickup.


2. Rinse the entire frame.
3. Rinse the inside of belt.
4. Rinse the outside of belt.
5. Apply detergent; let stand for no longer than 20 minutes.
6. Repeat steps 2 - 4.
7. Inspect.
8. Apply sanitizer.
9. Rinse sanitizer if required by law or company policy.

Sanitation Do’s and Don’ts

DO: DO NOT:
✔ Clean the belt on the conveyor. ✘ Use pipes or poles to lift the belt
(especially when running.)
✔ Clean the belt as it goes around
the sprockets. ✘ Soak the belts in “caustic baths.”
✔ Use CIP systems. ✘ Walk or stand on belts.
✔ Use belt lifters.
✔ Use open conveyor frames.
