I. The Turkish alphabet contains twenty-eight
Arabic characters, foar Persian, and one only of
native origin — the ''deaf ?i" — (marked^) : in all
NOUNS.
2. Turkish has no article, but the indefinite
hir, a, an, one, is sometimes used.
Turkish nouns have no gender. Distinctions of

ADJECTIVES.
Turkish adjectives have no inflections, either
for gender or number, except when used as sub-
stantives. They stand before their nouns, and
are unchanged, in this way :
