ways of limiting carbon emissions. Research and provide an extensive review
of various carbon trading schemes practiced around the world.

5. In recent years, the concept of sustainable economic development has

become central to the achievement of any Government's overarching
economic goal to grow an inclusive, innovative economy for the benefit of all.
Selecting a country of your choice, examine the process and progress of
achieving sustainable economic development and provide a critical appraisal
of its policies.
IMPORTANT: Essay writing in economics is a skill that you will need to develop.
An economics essay usually starts with a statement of the approach taken to develop
the answer and a brief explanation of the key concepts used.

The body of the essay provide the analysis needed to answer the question. It is good
practice to use diagrams and graphs, and data in your answer. Make sure that the
graphs or data are carefully explained in terms of the economics involved: an answer
full of data and graphs without a clear explanation of its economic meaning will result
in poor marks. Also, carefully label axes and curves, and define symbols.

Finally, the essay should conclude with a clear statement of the answer to the
question. The most common reason for poor marks in an exam is a failure to answer
the question. While preparing your essay/report, you must select a country, region
and/or industry cases(s) wherever appropriate to support your arguments.

NOTE: The maximum word length for the research essay is 3,000 words, excluding
citations and bibliography, but including any discursive footnotes. This is a strict word
limit - penalties will apply to any essays that exceed the word limit, and such text as
is well over the word limit will not be read. An important part of the skill of writing is to
be concise.
