Discuss the following Community Visit Protocols:


PRIOR LEAVING FOR THE COMMUNITY
In preparation for the community service, the school and the Facilitators should prepare for
the site visit prior to the chosen date. The assigned task for each committee should already been
done a week before the visit or within the given deadline. The members of each committee must
be aware or notified about their specific role during the visit. As much as possible, students must
ask questions to the Facilitators, if they need clarification about the said visit or project. The
students must be prepared and knowledgeable about the community they are going to visit. So that,
the project implementation can go smoothly without being delayed as well as to prevent
disorganization of the whole class. Unity and cooperation is much needed in order to achieve the
objectives listed on the project proposal. Furthermore, the students are requested to dress simply
and comfortably. Avoid wearing expensive accessories and bringing gadgets as much as possible.
The students as well as the Facilitators must arrive on time in the designated area within the school.
The attendance shall be taken. Coming late is not an option. The Facilitators must orient the
students about the do’s and don’ts and the outline of all the activities in visiting the community.
Facilitators must accompany their students at all times.

DURING THE COMMUNITY ACTIVITY


Upon arrival in the respective community, courtesy call to any barangay officials is a must
to show respect and to inform them that the class was present in the community to do the said
project. Also, to assist them and to suggest guidance in conducting the visit in order for the class
to effectively carry out the outline of their project during the visit. Moreover, attendance shall be
taken. No one is allowed to detach themselves within the class in order to explore. Proper etiquette
is necessary in communicating with people regardless of age and social stratification. Be mindful
of one’s action and be sensitive to the feelings of the people in the community. It is the
responsibility of the students to respect the rights of the residents set out in this protocol. Observe
and ponder the situation of the community. Don’t ever make promises to anyone in the community
to avoid giving them false hope. Be rational and realistic. Fully engage all participants in inquiry
and experiential learning. Connect the purpose of community visit to overall objective or goals of
the said project. The students must conduct interviews and document it. At the end of the visit,
each committee must properly done their part in the implementation of the said project.

AFTER THE COMMUNITY ACTIVITY


The whole class must comeback as one piece to the school. No more, no less. The
Facilitator shall share a brief report-out guided by the performance and the site visit review. May
also ask questions about the site visit process. Create a plan of action for the next visit based on
the observations gathered. The Facilitator must recall the requirements that needs to be passed by
the students. Further discussion might be done such as resolving issues after the said visit in the
respective community. The students can raise concerns about certain incidents happened, they may
provide a record of the visit which documents information of any issues to be resolved. An outmost
effort should be done to resolve issues at the most local level possible. Last attendance shall be
taken. Dismissed. Additionally, a reflection must be done within one self on how important
conducting community visits in marginalized areas in the Philippines. Community visit is a way
of sharing or giving back the blessings you received. Also, the importance of community visit
protocols that serves as a guidelines for actions and evaluations of action in terms of what to do
and not. This is very important when conducting activities like community service where students
are with people in the beneficiary communities which they barely know.

B. Submit a short summary of plan of activity in your assigned committee.
