Heavy-duty high pressure Series 40 Jerguson Gages are
available in both reflex and transparent types. (Reflex gages
assembled with a single plain glass for greater strength.)
These gages are designed and manufactured to the high-
est industry standards. Their dependability under difficult
high pressure operating conditions is well known in the
process industries.
Series 40 gages have a one-piece liquid chamber
machined from solid bar steel. Interchangeable sectional
gage covers and glasses are tightly locked over the liq-
uid chamber with special bolts and nuts. Recessed gas-
ket seats have a fine finish to provide a positively
leakproof seal between the chamber and glass. Wetted

Ahigh pressure gage

lor longer-lile under
severe conditions
• Working Pressures to 10,000 psi
• Solid, One-piece Steel Chamber
• Viton "0" Rings
The Jerguson Series 51 Liquid Level Gage is a specially
designed instrumentcapableofwithstanding high pressures.
The one-piece chamber is machined out of solid bar stock
carbon steel or stainless steel as specified. It is drilled length-
wise and crosswise at each port leaving tie-bars in between
to resist deflection under pressure. Viton "0" rings that seal
each port are unaffected by most liquids that cause deterio-
ration in rubber. The "0" rings are seated in recessed cir-
cular channels to assure proper seating action.
.,-,. MAXIMUM VISIBILITY:
This gage is unique in that it combines the strength to with-
stand very high pressures with a good degree of visibility.
Port holes in the chamber are drilled on an angle for positive
drainage of the port, thus preventing false level reading
caused by liquid hang up.
RATINGS:
Carbon steel and 316SS are rated for 10,000 psi @ 4000 F
using Vlton. Gages with 304SS chambers are rated for 6600
psi @ 4000 Fusing Viton.
CONNECTIONS:
X;" N.P.T. or Flanged to 6600 psi. High pressure fittings rec-
ommended for higher pressures.
CHOICE OF LENGTHS:
Series 51 Gages are offered in standard sizes up to 6 feet
in length. They are built to order in greater lengths.
CONSTRUCTION:
Chambers are machined from solid bar stock steel, carbon T·51 Gage
or stainless as specified. Covers are carbon steel. Studs
are threaded through the chamber to allow glasses on each
side to be changed individually.
Although the tempered longitudinal glass is carefully chosen
for "close tolerance" the design of the chamber and individ-
ual self-sealing "0" rings at each port confine the pressure
on the glass to X;" circles. Fibrous cushions are used between
covers and glasses.

Large chamber gages lor

easy reading 01 boiling liquids
Jerguson Large Chamber Gages are designed to give an
accurate liquid level reading of liquids that have a tendency
to surge orboil. These gages are highly effective in (1) reduc-
ing the boiling effects of entrained gas being released under
lowered pressure, (2) the liquid itself being vaporized when
pressure reaches a critical low point, and (3) boiling caused
by temperatures exceeding the boiling point of the liquid.
When the liquid being gaged has an unusually low boiling
point the gage and valves should be installed and the gage
equipped with a non-frosting unit.
Jerguson Large Chamber Gages are of flat glass reflex or
transparent design. The liquid chamber is constructed of
heavytubing, carefully slotted and machined to provide plane
seats forthe gaskets and glass assemblies. Covers are steel
secured with specially designed steel bolts.
Gage glasses are specially processed, heattreated and tem-
pered. Standard connections are %" N.P.T. female end con- RL-10 TL-10
nections. W' or %" N.P.T. side connections are available. 2"
flanged or scarfed for welding connections which provide
unrestricted flow through the chamber may be specified.

Jerguson Welding Pad Gages are used where conventional

error caused by piping to a gage glass cannot be tolerated, or
(3) where space requirements suggest their use.
Jerguson Welding Pad Gages are made in both Reflex and

Transparent gages are usually used where installation is made TYPE RW TYPE RIW

Standard welding pad gages will withstand loadings due to
the pressure within the gage itself, but they are not designed
to replace the tank strength lost when the tank wall is cut.
The gage manufacturer has no control over the loading which
the pressure vessel will impose on the pad. It is therefore
impossible to rate welding pad gages. The tank fabricator
must provide suitable tank wall reinforcement to prevent the
pad from being distorted during welding or while under oper-

Specialists in Liquid Level Indication

To improve the readability of flat glass liquid level gages in

poorly lighted areas Jerguson can furnish efficient illumina-
tors specially designed for use on Jerguson Gages.
EXPLOSION-PROOF ILLUMINATORS

EPL-54 AND EPL-56

These Jerguson Gage Illuminators incorporate the princi-

ple of wedge lighting which gives a bright, evenly diffused
light, free of glare or blinding areas over the entire length of
the gage glass. Light from a single lamp is reflected from
the angular surface of the plastic wedge and is evenly dif-
fused through the transparent gage glass.
Both EPL-54 and EPL-56 are CSAand ULapprovedfor use
in hazardous locations, Class 1, Groups C and D, Class 1,
Group B Div. 2.
Note: Other Illuminators available for Class 1, Group A and
ELP-56

B Service.
Relamping of these illuminators is simple and quick. A sin-
gle wing-nut clamps the cover and glass housing in place.
Loosening of the nut permits the cover and housing to lift
out in one piece. A safety chain attaching the bulb housing
to the base prevents possible damage and loss of parts on
the EPL-56.
Illuminators are made in single and double section styles
for Jerguson Series 300L, 20, 32 and L-10 gages. Double
section gages require only one lamp for illumination of two
gage sections. They can be adapted for use of Non-Frosting
Transparent Gages, and Reflex Gages.
EPL-54 and EPL-56 use a medium base 58 watt bulb.
EASY TO INSTALL
ELP-54
It is easy to install Jerguson Illuminators on your present
gages or new gages. The illuminators are furnished with
brackets which mount on the top two cover bolts on the right-
hand side of the gage section. The explosion-proof fitting
bolts to the bracket.
