Prelim Requirement: First 50 hour essay

Friday, March 2, 2018, I woke up at 5:30, took a shower and got ready because it was my

first day in the Department of Justice as an intern. Transportation hours took for about 1 to 1 and

a half hour because live in Mandaluyong, the location is a bit far and I’m assured that every Filipino

knows how heavy manila traffic is. Along the way, I have many thoughts about what to do or what

not to do since this is clearly my first time experiencing on the job training. I got there 7:30 am

and went straight ahead to the Human Resource building to get my ID as an intern and also to

know which department I will be directed. An OJT from another school working in the personnel

directed me to the National Prosecution Office under Assistant State Prosecutor Eugene Jabson. I

was with my classmate and the two of us were deployed in the same office. Our supervisor, Ms.

Natividad Reyes working as office secretary of ASP Eugene Jabson welcomed us with warm smile

and talked to us about herself and how things or works are done in the National Prosecution Office.

Second day, March 5, I attended the flag ceremony and observed to see the ordinances and policies,

the people or authorities and others to know more about the place where I will be working for a

month. In my course, I usually read journals, cases, book reviews, essays and more but in the office

it was my first time to read Resolutions, Petition for Review, and deliver papers from different

offices for receives. It was also my first time to write a resolution for a petition which we just used

as a practice because I know only prosecutors conduct such things. The remaining days of my first

50 hours were the just same, I read resolutions, digest cases, digest petitions, went to different

offices for record receives and receiving, until I realized OJT wasn’t so bad at all because I was

learning, learning from the papers I read and of course learning from my own experiences.

Midterm Requirement: Second 50 hour essay

I have completed my first 50 hours of OJT in Thursday, March 15, 2018. So, Friday March

16, 2018, I was working alone in the office, continuing to digest affidavits from 14 cases, I must

say, working in the office for about eight hours a day helped me more to understand my studies

particularly Introduction to law, which I am still currently taking and gave me a little hint about

lawyering and what prosecutors usually do. Staffs in the office and other prosecutors are trying to

convince me to take up law after graduating, but nonetheless, I am still assured with what I will

pursue after graduating. It was my third week working in the Department of Justice and I must say,

at this stage I have met new friends, and people whom I made to be an inspiration. Working in a

government institution woke me up to see the current state of our country and helped me to be

more aware and updated to the news or affairs happening in the society. So if I will be asked, I

will recommend working or taking up their Internship in a government institution because our

country needs more aware and concerned citizens. Going back to my third week as an intern, things

to be done were just the same, but is even more than the usual days, I was re-typing lots of

resolutions while digesting cases and affidavits at the same time. I photocopy files that were so

thick I cannot even carry alone, It was so hectic because we are also preparing for our thesis and

our upcoming defense. I had a really hard time, others were already finished in their OJT and I still

have a week to finish, so to be a little less stressed, I just thought that I shouldn’t care about them.

Hectic weeks helps me with my multitasking skills, after all, I know at the end of the day my hard

work will all pay off. April 2, Monday I have completed my 100 hours in OJT, and so far

everything were of best experiences.

Final Requirement: Third 50 hour essay

April 3, Tuesday, was once of the most memorable one, it was our first time to meet Fiscal

Jabson because hasn’t been in the office for the last weeks and we haven’t met him even once. Our

supervisor, Ms Naty was with us when we meet up with him. We all shared our experiences, some

facts about ourselves and shared some stories. The next day, Thursday, I continued to digest cases

and affidavits, I also have retyped three resolutions in one day and helped another staff member to

write a speech of a ceremony. It was such a tiring day, I just thought that I must enjoy and make

my last week in DOJ memorable and productive. I took pictures of the place and took pictures

with all the staff for documentation and also for remembrance. My last week in OJT was a bit sad

for me because our supervisor was on leave and I won’t be able to spend my last few days in the

office with her. So as usual, I continued all of my office works until finally I have finished

everything. I felt happy and accomplished doing all those works I never actually thought I can. My

On the Job training in the Department of Justice was very memorable and a very fruitful

experience. I was able to bring out my strengths and at the same time nourish my weaknesses those

that I will not be able to get from the campus. I was able to see what life would be after schooling,

it was a bit hard but it is such a relief to accomplish works that would help lots of people. Since I

worked in a government institution, I have seen the value of serving the government and serving

our country with both passion and intelligence through the works of everyone I encountered in the

office and in the whole department. Indeed working as an intern in the Department of Justice is

one of my unforgettable experience that I will bring with me as I continue to strive on for the

future.
