 Part -1
Satan fights against God in through different means which are direct and indirect in nature. The aim of
this article is to expose the indirect war which Satan is making against God. For better understanding
this article is written like a conversation between Satan and his Angel.

Angel: Hello Satan! I have a big doubt and due to which I’m unable to sleep properly and my head is aching because of this. 2
days back I was given posting in a Christian house who took baptism recently. But I was there only for an hour and I didn’t do
anything to make them sin and you told me to go out of that place. Later you gave me a new posting.

Satan: With a big laugh.… Hello Angel. I will clear your doubt now. When you were there in that house did they bring a big box into
that house?

Angel: Yes Satan. They brought a brand new television into that house and everyone in the house started watching it interestingly.

Satan: Do you know when they switched off the television? It was 2 AM in the morning. Till that time the one or the other in the
family were busy watching it .

Angel: So what Satan? They were just watching the television but they never sinned right?

Satan: What! They didn’t sin? Angel you don’t know what is sin. I John 3:4 says “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the
law: for sin is the transgression of the law”. Law means the “Ten Commandments” which God gave the mankind through his
servant Moses. In which the second commandment says like this “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any
likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not
bow down thyself to them, nor serve them”.

Angel: Oh! Satan I didn’t understand. Please explain me.

Satan: After the television entered the house they didn’t pray to God, didn’t read Bible and didn’t praise God by singing songs. But
the whole day they were watching the television. If at all their body supports them, they don’t mind watching it even 24 hours. You
know that these people had served the television instead of serving God. Now you tell me it is sin or not?

Angel: Yes it is sin. Now I understood your concept and feeling relieved.

Satan: Angel you know that if there is a television in a house, we will not have any work in that house. Because it will take care of
everything and make the people of that house to sin. This television i a biggest weapon I’m using to fight against God. Not only this
and there are many tricks in it. I shall let you know about the tricks in our next meeting and now you can go to your assigned place.

My name is Madhavan and I’m from a Hindu family. My native place is called Virudhunagar, which is located in Tamilnadu, India.
We had many problems in our family and due to which we didn’t have peace. My Aunt was a Christian who attends AG Church.
She told us that if we become Christians all our problems will be solved and we can live in peace. Our family was convinced with
her words and we become Christians. We started attending AG Church on Sundays.

At that point of time I was studying 7th standard in Seventh-Day Adventist School, Virudhunagar. My class mates told that 7th day is
the Sabbath; which is Saturday and not Sunday. They also proved this fact with evidence from Bible. From that day I started
thinking that Bible is clear on Sabbath and why people are acting against the Bible truth.Days went like this and I went to 11th
standard. During that time I met a brother named “Daniel” who is an Adventist. He was doing his nursing studies in Bangalore and
he used to come to Virudhunagar for holidays. When I started mingling with him I felt his lovable character. I thought that the
people in the Adventist truth can have a lovable character like this and I was delighted to the Seventh-Day Adventist truth. I learned
the Bible truth from him and started keeping the Sabbath from that time. After some days we separated but he was on touch with
me through phone. When I was studying my 12th standard I will never study on Sabbath. Even on exam time I used to take my
books only after Sabbath. But, God was with me and I was able to be the 2nd ranked student in the school with 1129 marks and a
centum in Computer Science Subject. I believe that it was God’s blessings for keeping the Sabbath holy.

Then I went to Chennai for doing my higher studies. I joined in the college for doing BE Mechanical Engineering. I was doing good
in my studies and my exam time table was released and I got my English exam on Sabbath. From that time struggle started in my
mind “whether to write or not”. I was scared of various reasons and the top most is my father. Because he do not know anything
about the Sabbath or the Seventh-Day Adventists. Then I was a rank holder in the school. The next thing is that I was studying with
the help of education loan and the last reason is my future job. Big companies will not hire students passed with arrears. I felt that
Holy Spirit was struggling with me to show me the right way. The day before exam came and I didn’t study that night. The Saturday
morning came and my exam was at 10 AM but still I didn’t decide whether to write or not. I called brother Daniel and asked whether
God will forgive me if I write the exam. God is merciful but he had died for you and me; “So, writing exam on Sabbath will not be
God’s will” he said. The only truth I know from the Bible was Matthew 19:31 which says “Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect,
go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me”. I have taken this
Bible verse as a feature talk in the Church. I believed that God is calling me like how He called the rich man. So, I decided not to
write the exam. Before my mind changes I locked my hall ticket and identity card in the room. Since it was a press and hold lock
system I can’t open it again as the key was with my friends who were staying me.

Once the exam was over my friends came to me and started asking the reason for not writing the exam. I took this as an
opportunity and told everyone about the Sabbath truth. Sabbath is an identity for God’s creation through which I shared God’s love
to many. One among that is my friend Guru who accepted the truth and joined our Church. Now we both are doing ministry for God
and sharing the Gospel to others. It was the miraculous Sabbath which had changed Madhavan into Peter Madhavan. Even my
family had accepted the Sabbath truth and started attending Virudhunagar Church. God has done miracles in my life as a gift for
keeping the Sabbath holy. Will you keep the Sabbath holy from today? So that the miracles happened in my life will happen in your
life too.

In the year 2015, 21st February God gave us a baby boy as gift whom we named as Danny Shane Allen. I loved him so much, my
thinking and focus were always on him. He was growing as a special kid. He called me as “Amma” when he was 6 months old and
called my husband as “Appa" when he was 7 months old. Within one year he spoke many words. When he was 2 years and six
months old he recited the following memory verses from Bible in Tamil.

1. We would see Jesus (John 12:21)

2. Exhorting one another (Hebrews 10:25)
3. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33)
4. The LORD will do wonders among you (Joshua 3:5)

If I tell him to say memory verse he used to recite all these four verses without any hazards. I was teaching him the fifth
memory verse which was “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! (Psalms
133:1)”. I was living for him and he was like a active sparrow. Suddenly he was affected with Dengue fever and he
rested in Christ. I was unable to digest this and was crying day and night.

This great loss happened in my life which I have never even thought. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was the only
person who comforted me. Yes, he spoke to me through this verse “For surely there is an end; and thine expectation
shall not be cut off (Proverbs 23:18) many times since my son rested in Christ. This Bible verse was was shown to me in
many places. My expectation is “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in
Jesus will God bring with him” (I Thessalonians 4:14).

Moreover I read a book titled “One week to Heaven” in Tamil which is a compilation of books written by Mrs. Ellen G
White. The first page of the book says like this “The children resurrected from their soil bed and their Angels directed
them to the hands of their mothers” explaining the second coming of Jesus Christ.

After reading this I got new hope and I believe that when Jesus comes back he will gather our family and again we will
live a happy life with our dear son Danny.

I also learned a lesson from the verses he recited. That is we all would like to see Jesus for which we have to exhort
others to seek the kingdom of God. So, that God will do wonders in our life and the wonder is to dwell with brethren in
unity which can happen only in heaven.

God made me to hate all the worldly pleasures in order to see my son again. Now I love my Bible more. Because, when
I spend more time reading the Bible I believe that the Lord speaks with me through his words.

Revelation 22:20 says like this “Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus”. Yes, surely the Lord is
coming back soon.For surely there is an end; and my expectation shall not be cut off. Amen.
 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God.
(Revelation 3:12)
In this section we are going to see the powerful ministry of our Pioneers who stood as Pillars for Christ.

Joseph Bates is a Christian and was a Captain in American Navy. After his retirement he started his missionary work to
spread the Gospel. We are going to see how God used Joseph Bates as a tool to introduce the Sabbath truth to the
Seventh-Day Adventist Church. This is an incident happened in his life.

One day Joseph Bates was in his study room writing an handout about the Sabbath truth. At that time his wife Prudence
Nye was making bread for the Sabbath. Since she felt that the wheat flour won’t be enough to make the bread she
called Joseph Bates and asked him to buy wheat flour and some other groceries. So, Joseph Bates got up and checked
his coat pocket for money and all he had was only 12.5 cents. The he asked his wife for the quantity of wheat flour that
she needs for making the bread. She replied 4 pound which is equal to 1.8 Kg in weight. Then he went to the shop
purchased the wheat flour and other grocery came back home and kept the things on the table.

When his wife saw the things on the table she was shocked and asked Joseph Bates why have you brought only this
much wheat flour? We used to buy in barrel right? Joseph Bates told that I just had 12.5 cents of money which was all I
had. Then she started crying and asked him why this happened to you and what have you done? Joseph Bates told that
“I spent all the money to spread the good news of the Lord’s second coming to others”. Then what are we going to do to
meet our needs? She asked. Joseph Bates told that “God knows our needs and He will take care”. She told that “wise
answer” which you always give and the conversation ended.

Joseph Bates continued his writing and at that time he was inspired by the Holy Spirit that there is a letter for him at post
office. So he went to the post office and checked with the post master. To his surprise there was a letter for him but
again there is a problem in it. The person who sent this letter didn’t pay the postal charges for it and he have to pay the
postal charges and take the letter. At that time the post master said that he doubts there is money inside the envelope.
Then Joseph Bates opened the envelope and there was 10 dollars inside the envelope. He quickly paid the postal
charges and rushed to the grocery shop and ordered for a barrel of wheat floor and few other things. Then gave his
address to the shop keeper and requested him to deliver the things to his wife.

With the remaining money he went to the printing press and printed the handout titled “The Seventh Day Sabbath, A
perpetual Sign” with 48 pages. This hand out had the complete truth of the Seventh day (Saturday) Sabbath. A young
couple from Methodist Church listened to the sermon of Joseph Bates on Sabbath and read this particular handout,
accepted the Sabbath truth and joined the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and they are James White and Ellen G White.

What a sacrifice it is? Joseph Bates didn’t save anything for him or his family but gave everything for God.It is because
of his sacrifice that we were able to know the Sabbath truth. God’s wish is that we all should reach heaven. To fulfill
God’s wish Joseph Bates had done a big sacrifice and he is standing in front of us as a pillar for Christ. Should you also
be a pillar for Christ like Joseph Bates? What sacrifice are you going to do for God? Do it today... as tomorrow is not
ours.
