CIVIC EDUCATION LESSON PLAN

TOPIC HE, SHE AND I
LEARNING By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
OBJECTIVES 1. Explain how to respect social boundaries among teenagers and
between genders.
2. Know one’s boundaries in socializing with opposite gender
3. Ensure a healthy relationship between genders.
ACTIVITY Pre-Lesson (5 Minutes)
1. Teacher introduces the topic and objectives of the lesson.
2. Teacher shows a video about healthy and unhealthy relationship.

Activity 1 (Knowledge) – 15 Minutes


Group Work (Brainstorming)
1. Pupils are divided into groups.
2. Teacher posts a question by writing it on the board.
“Social boundaries should be set and respected to build a healthy and
positive relationship. As a teenage Malaysian, how do you respect
one’s social boundary?”
3. Teacher gives each group a situation that contained a picture.
4. Pupils brainstorm and come out with ideas or ways of respecting
one’s social boundary.
5. Pupils do a round-table and Teacher gives feedbacks as a class.
Situations:
a. Commenting or complimenting an opposite gender of friend/
person
b. Socializing through social media
c. Keeping one’s personal space when interacting especially with the
opposite gender
d. Openly sharing sensitive emotions/ ideology to others
e. Wearing a proper/decent attire

Activity 2 (Socioemotional) - 15 Minutes


1. Pupils remain in their group.
2. Teacher prepares materials for group work
- Mahjong papers
- Marker pen
3. Teacher guides pupils to share their opinions about their
responsibilities to keep themselves from wrongdoings which effect
their relationship with their friends.
4. Pupils record the findings and make their own undertaking in mind
mapping form. (I-think)
5. Teacher chooses the best group to present their work.

Activity 3 (Action) – 20 Minutes


1. Students remain in their groups.
2. Students are provided with a A3-size drawing paper
3. Pupils have to create a poster titled “The Importance of a Healthy
Relationship”.
4. Pupils are required to post/share their poster through social media
apps.
5. Pupils would collect feedback from the post within a 2 weeks’ time
frame.

Post-Lesson – 5 Minutes
 Gallery walk
 Teacher sums up the lesson, highlights the core values and ends the
lesson.
