China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. ( Hereinafter referred as CRCHI ), formerly known as China Railway
Track Systems Group, is a large-scale professional group which integrates research, design, manufacturing and construction
of sophisticated rail equipment, TBMs and heavy machineries and equipment.

CRCHI has established several large manufacturing facilities in Hunan, Hubei, Gansu, and 11 large research institutes in
Changsha, Beijing, Shanghai, etc.
CRCHI has around 6,500 employees and 800 specialists are working in the Research & Development Centre (R&D).
CRCHI has capability of manufacturing around 20 large TBMs at the same time and the modern facility allows CRCHI to
manufacture TBMs with 16 meter diameter.
CRCHI is the professional enterprise which owns research and development ability of both shielded and conventional mining
and tunneling equipment.
CRCHI owns the largest facility and equipment for research, design, manufacturing of sophisticated TBMs, Segment Moulds
and Segment Fabrication Facilities, Rail Equipment, Heavy Machineries and Equipment, Concrete Mixers, Concrete Pumps,
Shotcrete Equipment, Piling Equipment, Special Construction Equipment, Rotary Drilling Rigs, Rails and fasteners, Turnouts,
Sleepers, electrification products, and steel structure, etc.

CRCHI has applied 30 patents among which 15 patents have been approved and authorized. CRCHI has independent
Intellectual Property Rights in the Core Products and Key Technologies.
CRCHI undertakes national science and technology programs, several major technology programs in Changsha,
Hunan, and Technology programs of CRCC.

CHCHI focuses on machineries, equipment and rail Track equipment.

1- Machinery equipment covers all types and Sizes of TBM , Mining method tunnel construction machineries, Concrete

Soft Rock TBMs:

CRCHI manufactures Shielded TBMs, EPB (Earth Pressure Balanced)
and Slurry Balance Shield in different sizes for soft ground which can
also be employed in harder ground condition by implementation of Mixed
cutter head and built in crushers.

Slurry Balance Shield:

The Slurry excavation mode provides continuous support to the tunnel face pressure of ground and water by pressurized
bentonite slurry with air cushion. The excavated material is mixed and accumulated under pressure in the chamber behind
the cutter head, and is then extracted by slurry pump and pipes to outside of the tunnel.

Earth Pressure Balance Mode (EPB):

This excavation mode provides continuous balance and

support the pressure of earth and water at the tunnel face
by the excavated material inside the working chamber.

The ground excavated by the cutting head is mixed and

accumulated under pressure in the chamber, and is then
extracted by a Screw Conveyor . The pressure in the
chamber is controlled by balancing the rate of advance of
the machine and the rate of extraction of the excavated
material by the Screw Conveyor.

Manual or automatic operation of the EPB system is possible through the integrated PLC and computer-control systems.

Single Shield:
The excavated ground is collected and guided through the channels behind the cutting wheels to the Belt conveyor installed
in the centre and transported by means of Rolling Stock or continues by belt Conveyor along the tunnel length.

Double shield :
Double Shield TBM is equipped with the trust jacks pushes against the segment rings to create the trust for the TBM
as well as the grippers to push against the excavated tunnel. The dual actions possibility results to continues excavation
and ring building and leads to higher performance of the machine while the other TBMs like Gripper, Single shield, EPB
or slurry shield TBMs Cannot excavate during the rig building due to necessity of implementation of the trust jacks.
