1.1 TRIP INFORMATION 0
The trip information feature is used to record
historic data associated with the last trip. The
data is DPF related, such as number of
regenerations, soot level, and so on. A trip is
defined as the period between two resets.
It is possible to reset the trip counters, however,
the total counters can not be reset.

1.3 BLOCKED DOC

Once a diesel oxidation catalyst is considered to

0
be blocked by the ECU, the aftertreatment fuel
dosing is disabled. After repair of the malfunction,
the system must be reset in order to enable fuel
dosing and reinitiate active regeneration. The
reset is only possible when most severe fault
conditions exist on the EAS system.

1.4 BLOCKED FUEL DOSING

0 Fuel dosing may be prohibited by various
diagnostic failures, such as system errors,
system performance errors, and so on. After
repair of the malfunction, the system must be
reset in order to enable fuel dosing and reinitiate
active regeneration. The reset is only possible
when most severe fault conditions exist on the
EAS system.

1.5 NEW DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER INSTALLATION

Diesel particulate filters (DPF's) are

0
manufactured in such a way that following the
application of the catalytic coating, a burn-off of
the excess residue is required. The process of
burning off the excess residue is called
degreening. Degreening takes place during
normal operation of the engine. During this period
of time, the differential pressure across the DPF
may periodically exceed the limits and could
trigger various undesirable fault codes. To avoid
this, the differential pressure based diagnostic is
temporarily switched off during the degreening
period.
Degreening is required whenever a new DPF is
installed.
CAUTION: Degreening is only
allowed whenever a new DPF is
installed.

The degreening period depends on:

- Average DPF temperature
- Exhaust gas mass flow
- Number of successful regenerations
The differential pressure based diagnostic is
switched on again after the degreening period
has elapsed.

1.8 FUEL SHUT-OFF VALVE LEAK TEST

The main purpose of this test is to check the fuel

0
shut-off valve is not leaking. This test can also be
used to trace mechanical failures of the fuel
dosing system, for instance leakage. During this
test the fuel shut-off valve is closed and the air
shut-off valve is opened. When fuel is leaking,
fuel spray is visible in the measuring container.
The test starts with a delay time of 30 seconds.
After the delay time has elapsed, the air shut off
valve is opened for a maximum of 60 seconds.
NOTE: If more than one test is to be
performed, it is advisable to perform the
fuel shut-off valve leak test first. This is
to make sure the fuel line between the
fuel intake module and the fuel dosing
module is empty.

Performing the test

Perform the job 'check fuel leakage shut off valve'
according to the instructions in Engine Rapido.
Performing the 'fuel shut-off valve leak test' with
DAVIE is a part of this job.
Follow all steps and safety precautions as
described in Engine Rapido and DAVIE.

1.9 FUEL DOSING SYSTEM OVERRIDE TEST

0 The main purpose of this test is to check that a
specific amount of fuel is delivered within the
specified time. This test can also be used to trace
mechanical failures of the fuel dosing system, for
instance leakage.
The test starts with a delay time of 30 seconds.
After the delay time has elapsed, the fuel dosing
module is activated for 130 seconds.
NOTE: If more than one test is to be
performed, it is advisable to perform the
fuel shut-off valve leak test first. This is
to make sure the fuel line between the
fuel intake module and the fuel dosing
module is empty.

Performing the test

Perform the job 'check fuel delivery dosing
module, fuel' according to the instructions in
Engine Rapido. Performing the 'fuel dosing
system override test' with DAVIE is a part of this
job.
Follow all steps and safety precautions as
described in Engine Rapido and DAVIE.

1.10 FUEL DOSING MODULE LEAK TEST

The main purpose of this test is to check the fuel

0
dosing module is not leaking. During this test the
fuel shut-off valve is opened and the fuel dosing
module is closed. Therefore the fuel supply line is
filled with fuel up to the dosing module. This test
can also be used to trace mechanical failures of
the fuel dosing system, for instance leakage.
The test starts with a delay time of 30 seconds.
After the delay time has elapsed, the fuel shut-off
valve is opened for a maximum of 60 seconds.
NOTE: If more than one test is to be
performed, it is advisable to perform the
fuel shut-off valve leak test first. This is
to make sure the fuel line between the
fuel intake module and the fuel dosing
module is empty.

NOTE: When the ignition of the vehicle

is switched off, the fuel dosing module
is activated to depressurize the fuel
dosing line and the fuel dosing module.
To prevent a false measurement the
amount of leaked fuel must be
determined before the contact is
switched off.

Performing the test

Perform the job 'check leakage dosing module,
fuel' according to the instructions in Engine
Rapido. Performing the 'fuel dosing module leak
test' with DAVIE is a part of this job.
Follow all steps and safety precautions as
described in Engine Rapido and DAVIE.

1.11 DEF PUMP MODULE OVERRIDE TEST

0 The main purpose of this test is to run the pump
module through its pressure control phase and
check that a specific amount of DEF is delivered
within the specified time. Besides checking
delivery, this test can also be used to trace
mechanical failures of the EAS system, for
instance of the dosing valve or the DEF pipes.
Points of attention to perform the test
1. The DEF pump module override test must be
performed according to the instructions and
conditions shown on the DAVIE screen.

2. The dosing valve must be removed from the

decomposition pipe according to the
instructions in Engine Rapido.

3. Check the dosing valve thoroughly before

the test is started.

4. Place the dosing valve in a measuring

container that corresponds with the amount
of DEF that is expected to be injected. The
DEF amount is displayed by DAVIE.

5. Cover the measuring container to prevent

DEF from spilling and to make an accurate
measurement.

6. After completion of the test, the amount of

collected DEF must meet the specifications
displayed by DAVIE.

7. Install the dosing valve according to the

instructions in Engine Rapido.

8. Do not return the collected DEF to the DEF

tank.

Explanation of the test

The test contains three phases:
1. priming phase
2. dosing phase
3. purging phase
This test is a fully automated test, so all phases
are successive. It is always possible to abort the
test.
Priming phase (pressure control phase)
The test starts with the priming phase. The DEF
pump of the pump module transfers DEF from the
DEF tank to the pump module and back to the
tank to pressurise and, if necessary, bleed the
DEF circuit.

series System inspection with DAVIE

Dosing phase (pressure control phase)

The dosing phase starts after completion of the
priming phase. During this phase the pump
0
module supplies DEF to the dosing valve. During
a programmed time, the dosing module must
supply the amount of DEF that is displayed by
DAVIE.
Purging phase (afterrun phase)
The last part of this test is the purging phase.
During this phase the system is emptied of DEF.
This prevents any DEF in the pump module, the
supply pipe and the dosing valve from
crystallising and causing blockages.
The purging phase is always performed, even if
the test is aborted.
Operating mode
The following system states can be displayed:
‘NOT ACTIVE' - This state indicates that the test
is not running.
'ACTIVE' - This state indicates that the system is
in the priming phase.
'ENGINE STOPPED' - This state indicates that
the engine is not running.
'ENGINE RUNNING' - This state indicates that
the engine is running and therefore the test is not
allowed.
'FAULT WARNING' - This state indicates that
there is an active fault in the system and therefore
the test is not allowed.
'PURGING' - This state indicates that the system
is in the purging phase.
'LOW TANK TEMPERATURE' - This state
indicates that the tank temperature is too low and
therefore the test is not allowed.
'DOSER FROZEN' - This state indicates that the
doser is frozen and therefore the test is not
allowed.
'LOW TANK LEVEL' - This state indicates that the
tank level is too low and therefore the test is not
allowed.
'PRIME TIMEOUT' - This state indicates that the
system has reached the calibrated number of
retry attempts and still is not successfully primed.
Mechanical failures
Symptoms observed during the test, as described
below, can indicate the possible cause of a
mechanical failure of the EAS system.
Priming phase is being repeated (Prime
timeout)
If the priming phase is being repeated, the pump
module is unable to build up pressure. Possible
causes are:
- no, or too little, DEF supplied to the pump
module.
- contamination inside the DEF pump module
inlet connector and/or DEF tank filter.

- air drawn into the DEF supply pipe to the

0 -
pump module.
mechanical failure of the pump module.
Priming phase and/or the test is aborted.
If the priming phase is aborted, possible causes
are:
- blockage of the DEF return circuit to the DEF
tank. The pump module cannot transfer DEF
back to the tank during the priming phase.
- blockage of the pump module or its supply
pipe.
- mechanical failure of the pump module.
Too little DEF supplied.
When too little DEF is supplied after completion
of the test, possible causes are:
- too little DEF supplied to the pump module.
- contamination inside the DEF pump module
inlet connector and/or DEF tank filter.
- partial blockage of the dosing valve or its
supply pipe.
- mechanical failure of the dosing valve.
No DEF supplied.
When no DEF is supplied during the test,
possible causes are:
- blockage of the dosing valve or its supply
pipe.
- mechanical failure of the dosing valve.

1.12 DEF PUMP MODULE PRIME TEST

The main purpose of this test is to prime the

0
system and to build up and maintain pressure.
After repair or maintenance, this test makes it
possible to verify that the system is free of leaks.
Points of attention to perform the test
1. The DEF pump module prime test must be
performed according to the instructions and
conditions shown on the DAVIE screen.

2. Visually check the connections and

components for leaks.

Explanation of the test

The test contains two phases:
1. priming phase
2. purging phase
This test is a fully automated test, so all phases
are successive.
Priming phase (pressure control phase)
The test starts with the priming phase. The DEF
pump of the pump module transfers the DEF from
the DEF tank to the pump module and back to the
tank to pressurise and, if necessary, bleed the
DEF circuit. When the system is primed, pressure
is built up and maintained. If pressure loss is
measured by the system, DAVIE will display the
operating mode 'pressure lost'.
Purging phase (afterrun phase)
The last part of this test is the purging phase.
During this phase the system is emptied of DEF.
This prevents any DEF in the pump module, the
supply pipe and the dosing valve from
crystallising and causing blockage.
The purging phase is always performed, even if
the test is aborted.
Operating mode
The following system states can be displayed:
' NOT ACTIVE' - This state indicates that the test
is not running.
'ACTIVE' - This state indicates that the system is
in the priming phase.
'ENGINE RUNNING' - This state indicates that
the engine is running and therefore the test is not
allowed.
'FAULT WARNING' - This state indicates that
there is an active fault in the system and therefore
the test is not allowed.
'RETRY LIMIT REACHED' - This state indicates
that the maximum number of retry attempts for
this test has been reached. After switching the
contact off and on, this parameter is reset.
'PURGING' - This state indicates that the system
is in the purging phase.

System inspection with DAVIE series

'LOW TANK TEMPERATURE' - This state

0 indicates that the tank temperature is too low and
therefore the test is not allowed.
'PRIMED' - This state indicates that the system
has been successfully primed.
'PRESSURE LOST' - This state indicates that
after the system had been primed, the system
lost pressure.
'PROHIBITED BY ECU' - This state indicates that
the ECU does not allow the test to start.
Mechanical failures
Symptoms observed during the test, as described
below, can indicate the possible cause of a
mechanical failure of the EAS system.
Priming phase is being repeated (Prime time
out)
If the priming phase is being repeated, the pump
module is unable to build up pressure. Possible
causes are:
- no or too little DEF supplied to the pump
module
- contamination inside the DEF pump module
inlet connector and/or DEF tank filter
- air drawn into the DEF supply pipe to the
pump module
- mechanical failure of the pump module
Priming phase and/or the test is aborted
When the priming phase and/or the test are
aborted, a fault code becomes active. Possible
causes are:
- blockage of DEF return circuit to the DEF
tank The pump module cannot transfer the
DEF back to the tank during the priming
phase.
- blockage of the pump module or its supply
pipe
- pressure lost in the DEF circuit
- mechanical failure of the pump module
