is a virus that can be transferred from person to person, and can be eradicated and prevented
through influenza vaccination. Despite good rationale and strong recommendations from
health organizations, the rate of compliance among healthcare workers are low. The purpose of the study is to
assess the knowledge and practice towards influenza vaccination compliance of radiologic technologists in
selected hospitals in Imus, Cavite. It also aims to identify the relationship between knowledge, practice, and
influenza vaccination compliance. The descriptive correlational study utilized purposive sampling to gain data
from 17 radiologic technologists with the guide of a validated multivariate questionnaire. Frequency and
percentage, and Spearman’s rho were used as statistical tools. The results of the study showed high level of
knowledge, practice, and compliance among radiologic technologists. However, having a high knowledge
towards influenza and influenza vaccination does not guarantee that the level of practice will be high. The
paper highlights the importance of influenza vaccine which is to protect an individual from acquiring influenza
in the workplace. The study exhibits the need of reinforcing better and consistent campaign programs with
solidified goals, objectives, and strategies to boost compliance rate among healthcare workers in general.

Influenza is a virus that can be transferred from

person to person through the secretions of the Descriptive Correlational
nose and the lungs. A recent finding by WHO
(2016) showed that vaccination is the most
effective way to eradicate and prevent infections Medical Center Imus and Imus Family
caused by influenza. A study done by Aguon et
al. (2013) entails that despite a good rationale Hospital in Imus, Cavite
and strong recommendations from many health
organizations for influenza vaccination among
healthcare workers, the rate of those who
comply is low. Influenza vaccination 17 Radiologic Technologists
compliance were associated with adequate
knowledge, accurate information from reliable
sources, along with higher perceived benefit,
susceptibility and severity of the disease, self- 29-item validated multivariate
protection and having been previously
vaccinated (Bish et al., 2011; Vasilevska et al., questionnaire
2014; Jaiyeoba etal., 2018). This paper aims to
determine the level of knowledge and practice
of radiologic technologists towards influenza Frequency, Percentage, & Spearman’s
vaccination compliance and their probable rho
relationship in the Philippine context.

There is a significant correlation between knowledge and

practice towards influenza vaccination. However, no
significant correlation has been noted for knowledge and
compliance as well as their practice and compliance.
Correlation between knowledge and practice (-0.508) is
inversely related. However, the result expressed a weak
relationship as it is somewhat above 0.5. The correlation
between knowledge and compliance (-0.383) is also inversely
related which thereby insinuate a weak relationship. Khoury &
Salameh (2015) emphasized a high level of knowledge does
not guarantee a high level of compliance. Lastly, practice and
compliance (0.318) are directly related; however, their
relationship is statistically weak. Findings from Bellia et al.
(2013) suggest that practice directly affects compliance due
satisfactory self-practices.
