Multimedia essay

My multimedia purpose is to design a video that helps many different target audiences experience what
the benefits of technology in school are. My video shows my theme of education by having it in the
classroom while reading a book that is through our ELA curriculum. This is a video helps my students by
being a resource for them if they missed that day in school or use as a reference for schoolwork. This
video will also give fellow teachers a chance to use my example as a starting point for their own flipped
classroom. For the fifth grade curriculum, my fellow 5th grade teachers can use this video for their
students as a reference to review. I will be able to show administrators that I use technology in and
outside of the classroom. I chose to use my phone as my software because of how easy it was to upload
it to YouTube.

Video process

Designing the multimedia presentation started with me announcing what chapter of the ELA book I will
be reading. I will read chapter 6 for students to listen to and use if they are missing from school that day
or if they needed to hear the content. I will go over a few vocabulary words to further help students
comprehend what I am saying. I was able to film myself reading by propping my phone on a stand.
After taking the video, I was able to let it load on my phone and then send it to my email. Once it
transferred to your computer, I was able to import it to my video editing app that is on my laptop. Click
on the “new video” icon on the top right of the screen and scroll down to the option “import video.”
Once video is imported, there are option to change the filter, among other options. My video was
complete so I downloaded it into a file. Once the file is downloaded, it is ready to be uploaded to
website that support the filename, YouTube was the hostname I used.

Flowchart

I used Microsoft word to create my flow chart. On the top left is the title, “Chapter 6 Read aloud
shows.” Underneath the title are more text boxes that broken up by target audience. Professional
educators, administrators, and elementary students are the target audiences. From each target
audience there are more text boxes going to the right. The text boxes to the right of the target
audiences gives examples of what the read aloud will show the target audiences. This flow chart was
beneficial because it showed me how to organize the purpose of my video and lay out how it benefits
the different target audiences I had in mind when making the video.
