Experiment 1A, 1B, and 1C

A. Background Information
The experiment that was conducted can prove that the truth table can really predict
the possible output of the input given weather the electronic signal was high or low. A truth
table is a chart that shows the truth-value of one or more compound propositions for every
possible combination of truth-values of the propositions making up the compound ones.
This can be used to test the validity of an arguments. Every proposition is assumed to be
either true or false and the truth or falsity of each proposition is said to be its truth-value.
Break down of a logic function by listing all possible values the function can attain. Such
a table typically contains several rows and columns, with the top row representing the
logical variables and combinations, in increasing complexity leading up to the
final function. Each row of the table represents a possible combination of truth-values for
the compound propositions of the compound, and there should be enough rows to cover
all possible combinations. For example, if the compound contains just two component
propositions, there will be four possibilities and thus four rows to the table. The truth-value
of the compound is indicated on each row under the truth functional operator.
Logic gates are combined logic gates that designed to do a particular job on task;
signal that come across the circuit is in digital form, possibly the output of one is the input
of another. Computers have become an integral part of life as they perform many tasks
and operations in quite a short span of time. One of the most important functions of the
CPU in a computer is to perform logical operations by utilizing hardware like Integrated
Circuits, electronic circuits and software technologies. In most modern computers, logic
gates are built using transistors combined with other electrical components like resistors
and diodes. Those are all wired together to make sure that they transform the inputs in
the way we expect.

C. Equipment / Components / Tools
 Digital Trainer
 Connecting Wires
 IC 74LS32
 IC 74LS08
 IC 74LS04

D. Procedure
1. Connect the digital trainer to the 220V AC power supply.
2. Turn on the trainer.
3. Install the IC on the trainer’s breadboard.
4. Wire the circuit according to the diagram by consulting IC’s gate data
sheet.
5. Use and of the two logic switches S2 to S1 for inputs to gate.
6. For output indication use any of the LED’s form L0 – L15.
7. Supply the VCC = +5V and GND to the pins 14 and 7 of the IC
8. Test all the possible combinations of inputs and verify the output
according to the truth table of OR, AND, or INVERTER gate.
