This 120 credit Qualification has been created to develop and reward the business
health and social care workers of today and the future, and to continue to bring
recognition and professionalism to the health and social care sector.
The rationale of the programmes is to provide a career path for learners who wish to
develop their management and care capabilities within the health and social care

Equivalences

This Level 5 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that
are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Foundation Degrees,
Higher National Diploma (HND) and Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor's
degree.

Qualification structure

The Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care consists of 5 mandatory units for a
combined total of 120 credits.

 Learners who complete this qualification can progress to study a variety of level 6
qualifications, including Level 6 Diplomas in Health and Social Care; and Final
year of UK University Honours Degree.

Assessment and verification

All units within this qualification are internally assessed and externally verified by the
awarding body. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the
achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.

To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that
they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all
assessment criteria.

 Prior study in Healthcare Management or related subjects at level 4 or above

 A level 4 qualification for example an Level 4 Diploma in Management for

The Learners must possess:

  Relevant NQF/QCF/RQF Level 4 Award/Diploma or any other equivalent
qualification
or
 Mature learners with management 3 years of work experience or more in case
of no formal qualification.
