A. Definitions
a. Management- a type of work which involves guiding employees so that they perform
their work obligations efficiently and effectively through coordinating with each of them.

b. Manager – They are the one who are responsible for overlooking the employee’s work
activities, making sure that they are effectively and efficiently doing their jobs. They are
also the head of an organization, which makes them the decision maker and strategist for
achieving their goals.
c. Organization- is composed of aligned and integrated people who has the same goals and
collaborates to perform in accordance to meeting those goals.
d. 21st Century – a time where technology has evolved and has affected the economic
change abruptly.
e. Industry 4.0 – virtual and physical manufacturing systems are integrated in a different
way.

B. Differentiate efficiency and effectiveness (cite examples)


- Efficiency means getting the most out of minimal resources while, effectiveness is getting the
work done in accordance to the goals of the organization. For example, when a 20 people
team can complete the same quality work that a 40 people team can, they are doing their job
efficiently. In accordance to that, the 20 people-team could have done it because they are
doing their responsibilities right, which can explain the term “effectiveness”.

C. What are the four functions of management? Describe each.


• Planning- it includes developing strategies and coordinating work activities in
accordance to their goals.
• Organizing- involves making arrangements and structures in relation to the task
delegation, work activities including when and how those should be done.

D. Research about the Historical Development of Management and Management Engineering. (Cite
important personas/theories involved)

- Classical approach includes two major theories being scientific management, and general
administrative theory. In scientific management, the major contributors were Frederick
Taylor, and Frank and Lillian Gilbreth. In this theory, it is said that the scientific method is one
of the best ways to get the job done. On the other hand, the general administrative theory
were formulated and supported by Henri Fayol and Max Weber. Fayol developed the
principles of management while Weber developed bureaucracy which is an ideal type of
organization based on his theory of authority structures and relations.

E. What are the 17 UN SDGs?


- These are:
• no poverty
• zero hunger
• good health and well-being
• quality education
• gender equality
• clean water and sanitation
• affordable and clean energy
• decent work and economic growth,
• industry innovation and infrastructure
• sustainable cities and communities
