HIP!!! HIP!!! HURRAY
SCHOOL IS OVER !
LESSONS FINISHED ; PLAY BEGINS…….
LET’S HAVE FUN

It’s impossible to overestimate the role that parents can play in their
children’s education. In addition to being their children’s first teacher,
parents are also their children’s teachers year after year. While a
student moves from class to class, parents and families stay the same. In
fact, nobody else knows your children and the struggles they face from
year to year better than you do. That consistency is one reason why
parents are so vital to their children’s education. Most importantly it’s the
reason parents must maintain a learning environment at home over the
summer.

Summer breaks are times when students typically

stop doing academic work and enjoy vacations
with their families. Unfortunately, all students
experience a loss of academic skill during this
break, families can help minimize learning loss
over the summer months by staying engaged in
their children’s learning.
That does not mean that holidays are about sitting at home? Definitely
not, they are about swimming, splash pools, outdoor visits to
grandparents, family members and friends. Kindly make these holidays
even a more cherished experience for your ward by spending constructive,
creative and useful time with children.

In term 1 we had a roller coaster ride with the settling time, celebration
sessions, colour days, completing portions etc. even though we had a short
amount of time in this term, we were able to cover a lot of concepts and
real life application activities for our children. We have worked on
procedures and routines to enable our children to follow instructions and
make their learning child initiated rather than a teacher led one. We have
helped them to explore the various elements of our curriculum in a quick,
hands on, fun filled and simple style. Which has helped them to develop
S – Social Development
I – Intellectual Development
M – Mathematical Skills
P - Physical Development
L - Literacy
E - Emotional Development SKILLS
Taking concrete steps towards independence :-
Life Skills are abilities that an individual need to acquire to complete daily
tasks without any help from others, which will make him / her independent
and more confident in his / her disposition.
 Taking bath independently
 Changing and buttoning up your shirt / dress as well
 Putting on your socks and wearing your shoes on your own
 Tying the shoe laces
 Finishing the meals without any reminders
 Keeping used utensils in the kitchen after eating
 Filling up water bottles to keep in the fridge
 Pouring water in the glass and serving to others
 Cleaning your cupboard and folding your clothes
 Keeping your things at the correct place after use.
Parents please make sure this award certificate is rewarded to your ward at the
completion on their tasks at the end on the summer break.
In Social Development :-
 Be your child’s best friend : Play games with your child – like ludo,
Snakes & ladder, Scrabble etc.
 Help your ward make new friends – Take them to the park, mall etc.
(we know its asking too much as the weather is not favourable ) but
please try at least twice a week. Encourage him / her to talk to the
other children and learn their names. They should be encouraged to
play in groups games like “hide & seek, oranges and Lemons sold for
penny, hop scotch etc. Make learning a fun activity.

Children you are going to create wonderful memories book of your summer
holidays by making a scrap book filled with the experiences of your
holidays. Remember to make it bright and colourful with lots of
photographs!!

PROJECT 1 # FAMILY TIME MEMORY BOOK –

ALL ABOUT ME

Procedure :- Please make a colourful memory book about your child the
different places visited, what he/she likes to eat, wear, have etc.
picture with grandparents, cousins, friends etc. magic moments
with parents while cooking, doing experiments and so. A beautiful
memory album with lots of decoration done with the help of your
child and you. Kindly make sure the first page to be used in the
album is with your child’s picture along with VERBS that describe your
child and example sheet and page 2 has been posted below :-.
We can’t wait to see your scrapbooks by the 10th of September 2019.

Intellectual Development :-

This development consists of other elements like language &

communication and understanding the world.

 Recognizing sounds : Engage children in activities to listen to sounds

around them and speak up to tell what is the initial sounds of the
things they hear, this can be the sounds of alphabets, drop of coins
in a jar, various vehicles , family members, animals and even nature.
 This regular practise will help enhance their listening skills and span
of attention.
 Tell a story : Narrate a short story, this could be a self-made story
based on the moral you would like to convey e.g to stop biting your
nails, eating too much sweets, keeping the place tidy, not to be lazy
etc.
 Pretend play : encourage children to pretend to be one of the family
members or some of their super heroes.
 Golden words : lets encourage children to use simple word, and help
them to phrases and sentences like
 May I come in ?
 May I drink water?
 Please make I go to the toilet mam?
 Please give me a glass of water.
 Please lets go out to play
 Please read me a bed time story.
 I am feeling hungry or I am feeling thirsty
 May I watch the T.V?
 Thank you friends
 Thank you mummy it was a great meal
 Sorry I hurt you
 Sorry I will not push again

 Some fun game in the car or free time : Name any four objects and
ask the child to find the odd one out etc. car, scooter, lion, cycle.
The choice are unlimited so let the child take initiation.
In Mathematical Skills :-

Fun activities to promote Mathematical skills, children master these early

skills simply by playing games in and around the house.

 Number in Everyday life : e.g. one button for one hole, how many
tomatoes are in the fridge, lets count how many teeth we have, is it
possible to count our hair?? Etc.
 Puzzle time: provide puzzle in large sizes simple 4 nos. then slowly
increase the quantity to 8 nos. and so on.
 Sorting : Mix a handful or Rajma seeds or channa seeds and then ask
children to count and separate it. In the activity he/she will
practice the concept of shapes, size, texture etc. all this happens
when children are fully concentrated but at the same time learning
is take place with fun.
 Messy activity : this is what children love, engage children in the
kitchen with measuring for a bake a cake or cutting vegetable for
quick sandwich. Children learn by doing.
 Making 2D and 3D shapes and relating it real life objects.
 Tens and ones game challenge
 Number Name challenge – flash a number and let your child spell the
number name out.
 Concepts like heavy/light, wet/dry, float/sink – do small stem
experiments with your ward and ask what do you think will happen
now and why ? or let the child come up with curious questions or
answers???

In physical Development:-

Through all activities conducted under this skill helps the child to be
completely aware of him / herself.
 Fruit a day: help children to adapt a good habit of eating healthy
that’s by eating a fruit daily. Make a chart like a month with
numbers and column and tell to write the name of the fruit that
they eat on each day.
 Let’s keep our teeth clean: Our children have understood that they
should brush their teeth twice a day daily when we had done the
topic health and hygiene in Our body. So kindly provide the month
track sheet with numbers and coloums to keep a track of the
number of times that he/she brushes the teeth in a day daily.
 Motor Skills: Scribbling, colouring, sand play, sewing, buttoning,
zipping, are the best activities to develop the muscles and to make
good pencil hold.
 Talks over walks : take children along with you for walks in the
morning / evening and talk to him/her what they observe on the
streets in the park. Help them to cross a road and teach them
safety rules of crossing the road, looking on both side, crossing on
the zebra crossing etc.
 Park visits : encourage children to run, jump and use all the
playground equipment’s. This is the perfect time to teach them how
to take turns a not to push each other and wait for his/her turn.
Also encourage children to play with other children and have fun.

Emotional Development :-

Mood of the day : help your child to understand his emotions by asking
him/her to share his /her mood on a particular day. He / She could be
happy, sad, angry or excited.

We hope your homework activities will be well managed and presentable so

that you can earn a golden star certificate after the holidays.
In Literacy skills :-

Recap of what we done in school and a little more will help your children
go more further with their reading skills.

 Buy story books (level 1) and read it regularly. Parents please make
habit to read at bedtime for children and you will see how their tiny
imagination grow bigger and brighter.

PROJECT 2# EXPLORING LITERACY

Procedure :- Make an Orange Scrape book A4 size of 10 pgs. (Orange
colour sheets). After every story book we request parents to help your
ward to make a book review (e.g what your child understood from the
story, what would a different ending be like, which other characters
he/she would like in the story, or a different title etc. ) and this is how
its done;- Please use the page below as cover page

 Write the title (name of story book)

 Write the author (who wrote this book) illustrator (who draws the
pictures in the story book).
 Draw or Write the main character
 Write in 4 lines what he / she thought or knew about the story.
 Kindly provide ever one or two week a new book so that he/she can
be through with the vocabulary and even start making their own
story.
 Encourage reading sign boards/ heading on bus
 Memorise signs
 Read all short a,e,i, o, u words from the reader book and try help
them to make sentences along with super sight words.
Reading Skills:-

Children must develop love for books from a very young age. Therefore, to
inculcate the habit of reading among our little ones, we request our
parents to buy “Read it yourself with Ladybird Series Level 1”.

So, go ahead, spend constructive, creative and useful time with your child
and help him/her to explore the fun of reading.

* Read the books, , ‘The very hungry caterpillar’, ‘Handas Suprises’,

’Goldilocks and The Three Bears’, Jack and the Bean stalk, The Gruffalo
etc. ‘for your child. Also encourage him/her to read the book. When the
child comes back to the school, he/she should be able to narrate the
story in his/her own words in English.

* Read the following words to your child to enhance his/her vocabulary.

One example of Goldilocks and the three bears:-
Goldilocks the chair porridge baby
three and soft hot daddy
bears walk bed right mummy
girl just house cold hard
sleeping eat broken

Other tips to improve reading are :-

 To improve the concentration levels give newspaper or magazine and

ask to search for words that begin with a particular sound or search
for pictures of birds, other objects etc.
 Reading labels, road signs and supermarket filers.
 Different types of ingredients etc.
INTRODUCTION TO RAINBOW SIGHT WORDS
Sight words are very important for sentence construction, reading and
understanding. The basic sight words (two letter) have been taught in
class, find below a table of more sight words to be understood.

The Sing & Spell intro to Sight Words helps children learn sight words in
a multisensory way. Simultaneous multi-sensory teaching is the
engagement of multiple pathways in the brain at the same time in the
teaching process. The child should ideally see it, say it, hear it, and do it –
all at the same time. This method takes advantage of most children's
natural love of music, rhythm, and movement, as well as the mnemonic
mediator for which music is famous!

Here is how it works:

When the teacher introduces a new word, they show the word and spell it
aloud several times through, pointing to each letter as it is spoken.
Starting slowly, picking up speed until they are saying the word as they
will hear it by singing.
The teacher uses flash card, and plays the song or video of the word and
point out the letters of the word as they are repeated in the song. As
soon as the song is finished, ask the children what the word is, and wait
for them to shout it out.
It is this simultaneous multisensory mixture of learning activities that
imprints each word onto the brain for optimum learning.
Below are the sight words that will be taught with this fun method:-

Writing Skills :-

Writing is one of the important methods of communication and as such it

is required to be clear and legible to the reader. There are many times
when we have come across writing which is illegible or untidy, making
reading an annoying experience. Writing clearly and impressively is an art
which one develops over a period of time and childhood forms a base for
this impressive art.
Encouraging children to write is a tough challenge faced by parents and
teachers. These days’ children prefer to listen, feel and talk while
learning, as compared to the older version of learning and writing. Here
are some tips for parents to help build an interest and improve writing in
their children.

Children learn to write individual alphabets and teaching them to

blend the various alphabets to form legible words is important.
This is possible through cursive writing.

1. Introduce them to the world of letters and words by way of

stories and simple discussions. This will get them eager to
explore reading and writing.

2. Do not hold their hands to help them to write the alphabets.

Let them start writing slowly, but do make it a point to get
them to write everyday for a stipulated time.

3. Give them a board on which they can write using a chalk. This
will also help them develop their motor skills.

PROJECT 3# HANDWRITING

4. Please use the 200 pgs four line book provided and practice
writing each slot alphabets in cursive daily. (1 line 1pg.)

Kindly write date and set the book for the child to write. An
example how to set the bk has been shown below in the same
manner please complete all the slots till letter ‘z’. Every day 1
page of cursive handwriting. #1 slot (1 page)

Date

#2nd Slot

#3rd Slot

#4th Slot

#5th Slot
Once the alphabet slots are done and children have understood

kindly allow them to write ‘a-z’ on five days :- ( ‘a-z’ shown

below)

Then slowly start with sight words. After these practice

please start with simple sentences which they have already
learnt in class. E.g. the cat is on the mat, the rat has a big hat,
Dad likes to jog, Pam saw a ram on the way. Etc. (every day 1
pg. the pg should be set by parent and given for practice
writing) Always write date.

 ‘a’ family words’ -:

Submission of English Note Book :- 10th September 2019

5. Start with letters, words and then gradually moves over to

sentences.
6. Using ‘one finger space’ method can help them bring about
neatness in their work.

Of all the important pointers, sitting upright and proper holding

of the writing instrument is important. Parents need to help
them build on their cursive writing skills by taking into
consideration their interest, motor skills and the amount of
concentration that a child would be able to give.

An activity that can go with the writing can lend a helping hand.
Time and patience is an important part of developing this skill
which parents need to set aside

Mathematics – all about Number Skills :-

Sorting objects by shape, color, and size, counting to 50. Recognizing

groups and patterns etc.

Forget the flashcards and number drills; if you want your child to love
numbers, show him/her how math’s is a part of everyday life and they will
be eager to learn more and more.
Giving children chances to perform individually and allowing them to take
the lead role helps them to be responsible for their actions. Like water
the plants, measuring in the kitchen, throwing the garbage how many
steps to the place and back and allow them to compare the steps to
somewhere else, how of money paid at the grocery, how much change we
received back, questions like what will happen it I will not pay??
What will happen next?? How can I make more etc.

Here are some fun ways to learn maths. Because children learn in
different ways, they're arranged by learning style. There are different
types of learners –Visual learners, Physical learners and auditory learners.

*For the visual learner

Go on a number safari. When you're driving around town, have your child
look for numbers in street and store signs, and on license plates. Call out
the numbers as you find them.

Connect the dots. This old standby will help your child understand
number sequencing.

Make a phone call. Write the phone number of a friend or relative down
on a piece of paper. Have your child dial the number to give him practice
reading numbers left to right.

Count everything around you. Count people standing in line, the number
of steps to the library, the cracks in the sidewalk.
*For the physical learner
Count and sort household items. Mix up the knives, forks, and spoons
from the silverware drawer and have your child group them by type and
count how many there are in each group.

Go on a shape search around the house. Look for squares, triangles,

circles, stars — any kind of shape. Your child will be expected to
recognize, draw, and manipulate shapes well into 1st grade (not to mention
high school geometry!).

*For the auditory learner

Listen to counting rhymes and songs. "Three little monkeys jumping on
the bed; one fell off and bumped his head. Mama called the doctor and
the doctor said, 'No more monkeys jumping on the bed!' Two little
monkeys jumping on the bed..." Any variation on this counting rhyme
introduces basic subtraction. Look for children's games and music activity
tapes that feature songs about numbers.

Make a recipe with your child. Give your child the measuring cups and
bowls and let him measure out the ingredients while you read the
directions out loud. An easy and delicious way to introduce concepts such
as volume and weight.

Introduce them to zero the hero and his friends (number names ten,
twenty, thirty, forty, fifty ,sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety and hundred)
and revise the concept of tens and ones which is very important to
understand place value of tens and ones in numbers.

Zero the Hero !!!

Zero the Hero...He's SOOO Cool!

Zero the Hero...He comes to schoooool!!
Zero the Hero...He takes his place!!
So NOOO other number can take his space!!!
For the 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th... day of school
Do and Learn :- MATHS SKILLS

Procedure :- Use a Square Line note book and practice daily writing
numbers 1-50 ( each day that is first day write 1-10 on the second day
write number name 1 – one on the third day number 11-20 then
number name 2- two and so on and then follow this pattern on ) make
sure every writing is done in cursive.

After they are well-versed with numbers 1-50 you must proceed further
60-70, 70-80 and so on till 100. In KG II we will be completing numbers up
to 100 in all forms like before / after/ in-between, backward and forward
counting, and all operations are done with the basis of number bonds.

Provide lots of visual flash cards to see the number, touch, feel see the
quantity objects and so on. Forward and backward counting, comparing the
quantities and think and say the answer .

PROJECT 4# T-Shirt Number Bonds

Use a plastic clothes hangers. The wire ones may be

easier to get the shirts on and off but very thin so
plastic ones are better. Then print these little shirts
laminate and punched a hole in the top.

we've practiced doing

numbers up to 10 I also
wanted to include the
shirts with numbers 1-
10 for kinder friends so
that still work on
counting and matching the
quantity to the number shown.

Take 2 colours of pegs or

single clothespins so
that students can get
use to seeing numbers in
relation to 5. You can
use different coloured
papers for all numbers of
stick to one T.shirt
pattern but should be laminated so you can reuse it as
many times as you want. Hope your sweeties have fun
with them!
Tens and Ones Paper Chain
*You will require colour papers, scissor and glue

*You can do any sets like 11-20 or 30-40 etc.

* Look very carefully to see where the colour changes

as you know kids 1 ten = 10 ones

Please make sure that the finding or activities to make are to be

stuck on Yellow coloured papers ;

In term 1 we have completed all about me and the starting of

human body - sense organs. Our children are completely aware
about what are the sense organs how many sense organs are
there, what does it help us in, if suppose one sense organ was not
there or anything happens to one organ? What other sources will
help a person to overcome this loss e.g. if a person loss his vision
what are the other ways to make or help the person read or
understand. These topics are taught through reasoning skill
allowing children to critically think and answer.

You can introduce children to the amazing world of animals and

plants, as we will be introducing children with these topics in
September. So a head start only make knowledge grow and helps
children to make connection to real world.

Kindly make an interactive scrap book of the animal kingdom.

Please help children to understand classification, life cycle of
any animal or insect of the child’s choice Please keep it simple
child’s work he/she should be able to explain it in class for the
science exhibition

Allow children to research for themselves and watch the

YouTube on the following topics :-

Living things and non living things for kindergarten

How does a seed grow?
The classification of animals
Its habitat
Plants that grow in the forest, in the jungle and in the garden
etc
Wild animals , domestic, pet animals
Visit different zoos to take pictures differ animals and make
scrap book with small explanation about each animal to talk for
the exhibition.

If possible please visit Kidzania at the Dubai Mall to experience
