A. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND COURSE INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES (CD-CILOs/ Outcomes)

This course builds upon the students’ content knowledge on analytic geometry and the conic section, limits and continuity, the derivative, maxima and minima involving
algebraic functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions for them exhibit learning competencies and develop critical and
creative thinking and/or other higher – order thinking skills . In view of this, it is important that students in education to show skills in the positive use of ICT, manifest meaningful
exploration, discovery and hands – on activities, promote numeracy skills and have a comprehensive pedagogical content knowledge(PCK) of Mathematics and apply it in real-
life situations which enable them to solve problems which require a good amount of calculus. It is also true that calculus is widely used in the fields of engineering, physics, and
other natural sciences, calculus is also used in business, and in practically almost all fields.(1.1.1), (1.3.1), (1.4.1), (1.5.1), (2.3.1), (4.2.1)

At the end of the course, the learners are able to:

1) Explain clearly the content knowledge and applications of analytic geometry and calculus, using relevant examples as needed;(1.1.1)
2) Promote numeracy skills on analyzing the given problems dealing with differentiation;(1.4.1)
3) Show skills in the positive use of ICT in illustrating the graph of the circle, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola;(1.3.1)
4) Demonstrate hands – on activities in various methods of learning the concepts and principles of differential calculus such as, conducting investigations, modeling, doing
research;(2.3.1)
5) Create learning experiences in the classroom which develop the learner’s critical and creative thinking and/or other higher – order thinking skills through solving real-
life problems involving rate of change.(1.5.1)
6) Exhibit learning competencies on understanding the basic concepts on analytic geometry and calculus.(4.2.1)

Program Standards/ BGI 1. Acquire and develop an enhanced perception of the vitality and importance of Mathematics in the modern world.

Pedagogical The course implements Blended Mode of Instruction/ BMI through schoology.com. Enrollment to the said learning management system will be
Nature and discussed in the classroom. This is on a flexi-learning course as the FS fieldwork requires a presentation of Action Research.
Delivery
Attendance, Assignment and Students are required to observe attendance in the class as monitored in the School Register Form. In case of BMI, the important dates are
Submission Policies considered the attendance. Assignments and their submission are to be on time as announced or as scheduled in the class sessions/ BMI.
Uniform and Students are deemed accountable to follow the “Damn Psychology of Clothing” and the “RESPECT the 6 Cs” as campaigned in the class through
Decorum posters.

Academic Honesty All forms of dishonesty as indicated as ideal class rules in the basic and higher education is automatically equivalent to a failing grade of the
and Scholarship academic exercise. Plagiarism is automatic “Failed” in an output.

Special Education Need and Persons with physical/ learning disabilities are requested to see the Professor within the first two weeks of the semester. A doable strategy is
Disability Accommodation designed by both the Professor and student throughout the semester. Have an appointment with the Professor for his/ her consultation time.
Gender and Development All oral and written communication outputs/ class interactions are required to observe the use of gender sensitive language. The course prohibits
Related Accommodation discrimination and harassment based upon race, ethnicity, sex (including sexual assault), pregnancy, color, religion, national origin, physical or
mental disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and genetic information. Any student who has concerns about such
behavior should see the Professor.
Religious Accommodation In the academic work in the class, everybody is required to avoid conflicts with student’s religious practices and/ or observances. For an
exemption, the student may request reasonable accommodations. This request must be in writing, and the Professor will review the request
and this may even seek for assistance from the Dean.
Academic State clearly your rule for mentoring-coaching for competency-based classes, dual classes with both lecture and laboratory…
Mentoring, Coaching and State clearly your rule course consultation…
