The Chamber of Mines of Caraga Region Incorporated (CMCRI) will be holding the 5th Caraga
Mining Symposium and Safety Competition on September 26 - 27, 2019 at Philippine Gateway
Hotel, Surigao City.

This event, held once in every two years, is spearheaded by the CMCRI together with the Mines and
Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, and in partnership with the Philippine Society of Mining
Engineers – Caraga Chapter, Caraga Mine Safety and Health Council, Caraga Mine Environmental
Management Council Inc., and the Community Relations Education and Development Organization.

This year’s theme, “Mining Industry: A Catalyst for Economically Sustainable and
Environmentally Resilient Communities”, aims to promote public awareness on the positive
contributions of the mining industry, specifically in Caraga Region, in terms of establishing sustainable
and resilient communities able to withstand present and future economic and environmental
challenges.
