FADE IN:
1 EXT. SKYLINE, LONDON - EVENING(REAL TIME) 1
In a moderate pace, the camera PANS across the skyline of
London covered in a golden orange glow. London painted grey
and white with it’s mix of modern and heritage structures..
In the far end of the screen we can see the sun setting as we
Start descending into the city. Energy starts rising. The
sound of traffic, and music from the cars below adding to the
energy of the city. The sun continues to set as...
The roads below get lit up by the street lights.. The
headlights of cars become brighter as the sun goes down. The
hustle and bustle of the city grows louder and..
We fly like a bird over the streets, following the fast paced
traffic below, till we reach..
The Westminster Bridge where we see an aerial view of a tall
man walking, dressed in a suit, carrying a briefcase in his
hand. In the background the BIG BEN chimes, announcing it’s 6
PM in the evening.. The man lifts his right hand up and..
As the man checks his watch against Big Ben we see..
2 EXT. WESTMINSTER BRIDGE - EVENING(REAL TIME) 2
CLOSE/POV - An Omega. Exactly 6 PM. We see the initials B.G.
stitched on the cuff of the white starched shirt.
We see the man. He does not slow down as he checks his watch.
Dressed in an expensive suit, with an equally expensive over
coat.. This is BADAL GUPTA(68).. Little over six feet in
height, with a salt and pepper hair, Badal is built to last.
A hint of a smile comes on his face, as if he is proud of his
watch keeping the exact time as Big Ben. There is a twinkle
in Badal’s eyes.. A man who faces life with a pinch of salt..
As Badal walks leaving the Big Ben behind him, a black taxi
drives across the screen WIPING the camera and we see..
3 EXT. EXETER MANSIONS - EVENING(REAL TIME) 3
An aged English man selling hot nuts out of a cart in front
of a plush, expensive, heritage apartment building. Visibly a
residence for the traditional rich folks.
A police bike is parked on one side of the building and from
the same side -- Badal enters. Notices the police bike,
checks the name of the building and enters the building. As
he enters, the nut seller tries to yell out to Badal
NUT SELLER
Nuts?
Badal politely smiles back a refusal while muttering under
his breath.
BADAL
I must be.

Badal enters and walks across the elegant lobby of the
building, towards the elevators. We see the same image as a..
CCTV IMAGE -- of Badal walking across the lobby.
A policeman whose, bike must have been parked outside watches
Badal walking across. Notes it down.
Badal enters the elevator. An old SCHINDLER elevator with
shutter gates and a large mirror as the back panel. As he
presses floor 12, Badal sees the policeman looking at him. A
polite exchange of silent greetings. The door of the elevator
closes on the policeman and..
5 INT. ELEVATOR, EXETER MANSIONS - EVENING(REAL TIME) 5
Badal puts his briefcase down on the elevator floor. We see
CLOSE - The initials B.G. engraved on the leather case.
Badal adjusts his expensive wool and cotton tie in the lift
mirror. He pauses for a moment to check himself. Hair neatly
back brushed, a full beard precision trimmed.. Badal looks
like a character out of a Tom Ford wardrobe. DING!
6 INT. CORRIDOR, LEVEL 12 - EVENING(REAL TIME) 6
The elevator announces it’s arrival on the 12th floor. The
door opens and Badal steps out. An apartment door right in
front of him. One apartment per floor -- Even the corridor
looks expensive! Badal rings the door bell and waits.
Seconds later, the door opens. It’s NAINA(29). Dressed in
house clothes, with her hair tied back casually, Naina’s eyes
are tired and filled with sadness. She looks like someone
very vulnerable and you would want to care for. Badal was
probably expecting a much more smarter version...
BADAL
Naina Sethi?
Naina nods, a little surprised. We can hear the television in
the background. The opening music of the NEWS.
BADAL (CONT’D)
Badal Gupta. I was sent by your
lawyer, Archie Punjabi.
A look of recognition comes on Naina’s face.
NAINA
Oh yes. I was expecting you much
later.
Badal is not sure how to deal with the question.. He takes a
step back..
BADAL
Would you like me to come back
later?

(embarrassed)
Oh no... no. Please come in. Archie
told me a lot about you..
BADAL
All good I hope..
Naina steps aside as..
7 INT. LIVING ROOM, NAINA’S APARTMENT - EVENING(REAL TIME) 7
Badal enters Naina’s apartment. A gorgeous old, high ceiling,
Victorian apartment fused with modern facilities. Naina
offers to take his overcoat and hang it on the standing coat
rack..
NAINA
You want me to..
BADAL
No. I’ll do it.
Naina walks ahead into the wide and hugely spacious sitting
room of her apartment towards a small table ahead in the room
-- where she was probably sitting and having her supper while
watching the massive 70 inch television hanging on the wall
in front.
NAINA
I’ll just clear up. Please give me
a few minutes..
Badal is cool, he takes his overcoat off and hangs it. His
eyes constantly observing. He notices a child’s winter coat,
stitched like a Penguin, already hanging. As Naina clears the
table, Badal sees her plate -- The sandwich is almost intact.
Naina has hardly eaten..
NAINA (CONT’D)
Can I get you some tea? Coffee?
BADAL
No I’m good thank you..
(as Naina walks past)
My mother used to say.. No car can
run without fuel..
Naina is not sure.. She raises her eyebrows.. Badal gestures
to the uneaten sandwich. Naina smiles.. She walks toward her
kitchen..
NAINA
Was she aware of electric cars?
BADAL
(caught off guard. smiles)
No. She passed away before that.
Badal, now alone in the room, glances his eyes across the
apartment -- The whole place is a reminder of a family,
especially a small child. Naina is obviously a mother. The
television runs in the background..

NEWS PRESENTER (V.O.)


In national news, The main news
this morning.. Is the funeral held
in the memory of Arjun Kohl..
Badal’s attention is distracted by the name on television --
His attention immediately transfers to the news..
NEWS PRESENTER
The photographer allegedly murdered
by his lover Naina Sethi..
On the television screen we see the faces of the two
individuals, Arjun and Naina. Arjun a mischievous face with
an air of flamboyance thrown around him, while Naina is a
complete opposite of what we saw her just now -- A hard nosed
business woman, dressed impeccably -- Naina could well be a
model that Arjun photographs.
NEWS PRESENTER (CONT’D)
Naina Sethi who was recently
awarded the FORBES BUSINESS PERSON
OF THE YEAR award is pleading
innocent and states she is the
victim of a plot..
BEEP. SILENCE. From behind Badal, Naina switches the
television off with the remote. Only the faded sound of a
police siren outside. Badal who was engrossed in the news,
turns to her. He notices Naina has come back from inside with
a soft woollen cardigan wrapped around her.
BADAL
At least they used the word
“allegedly”!
Naina sits down, while adjusting the police band around her
ankle. That irritating thing always manages to get tangled in
her trousers.
NAINA
You’re the “Glass half full” kind
of a person?
BADAL
Always.
(pauses)
However we’ve had a setback. I
tried to talk to Archie but his
phone is off.
Naina continues to adjust her ankle band.
NAINA
Yes he is out of town. But Archie
said everything was under control,
He’s gone to find an important
lead..
BADAL
(completing her sentence)
That would change everything.

NAINA
Exactly.
BADAL
Yes. That’s what Archie also told
me when I last spoke to him. But
unfortunately, Archie didn’t know
what I know now.. And what Archie
STILL doesn’t know..
NAINA
What?
BADAL
It’s very likely that you’ll be
called to testify tonight.
Naina stops fidgeting with the police band.. She wasn’t
expecting to hearing this.. Her attention now towards Badal.
NAINA
Why?
BADAL
One of my court house sources say
that the prosecutor has a last
minute witness who can turn your
whole case around. We don’t know
who it is, but the person is being
escorted to the court and testifies
in three hours. Hence my early
arrival.
Naina is really worried. A look of helplessness comes on her
face.
NAINA
But I told the truth.
Badal sits down across the table and starts taking dossiers
out of his leather briefcase..
BADAL
(an age old smile)
Justice is blind Ms. Sethi. She
doesn’t care about the truth. Facts
are what matters. Evidence.
Plausibility.
Badal places his dossiers neatly on the table. In the process
also clears the table a little. He is an organized dude!
BADAL (CONT’D)
Plausibility is based on details.
Your testimony has holes and I need
details to seal those holes and
convince the world that.. You are
innocent.
Badal notices the growing look of worry on Naina’s face. She
is not liking what she is hearing. What is this new shit!

BADAL (CONT’D)
I assure you. I can do it. So far
I’ve never lost a case before any
judge. That’s why your lawyer has
hired me to do but.. I would need
you to tell me..
(a twinkle in his eyes)
“The truth and nothing but the
whole truth”
Naina points to her apartment.. Her eyes welling up
NAINA
I only made one mistake and now I
am paying the price. My husband
took my child away from me.. And
the police have turned my home into
a prison.
(points to the band)
I am being watched 24 hours. Don’t
you think if I’d had anything else
to add.. I would have done it by
now?
BADAL
In that case.. We have nothing to
discuss. Open and shut case. There
was a murder, the police has found
the murderer. Case closed.
NAINA
Who?
BADAL
YOU! Or have you not been watching
the news?
Naina looks at Badal. She is not sure how to read this man.
Even the most serious sentences come out very ‘deadpan’ from
his mouth.
BADAL (CONT’D)
Naina..
(adjusts)
Sorry.. May I call you Naina?
(Naina nods)
Thank you. I have a daughter of
your age. If the Prosecutor has his
way, he is going to request for
your immediate arrest. We have less
than three hours to start all over
again. So I suggest let’s get to
work.
NAINA
(angry and frustrated)
This is so not fair. I am innocent.
Somebody is trying to frame me.
BADAL
(little serious)
I get paid by the hour.
(MORE)

BADAL (CONT'D)
So either you can continue to whine
or help me to keep you out of
jail.. I’m good either ways.
Naina looks at Badal. Angry and helpless but realizing that
she has no other alternative. She accepts the situation.
BADAL (CONT’D)
Good.
Badal places his mobile on the table. Naina stares at it.
CLOSE OF MOBILE - STOPWATCH FUNCTION - SETS 180 MINUTES.
COUNTDOWN BEGINS.
BADAL (CONT’D)
Let’s go back to the start. What
were you and the deceased doing at
the..
(checks his file)
GLEN MOHR hotel?
8 EXT. GLEN MOHR HOTEL - DAY(FLASHBACK) 8
And we see a PANORAMIC SHOT of the amazingly scenic GLEN
MOHR. A classic Victorian styled hotel standing alone like a
castle in a remote valley, surrounded with snow clad
mountains. There is snow EVERYWHERE. We see a window where..
NAINA (V.O.)
We were told to go there.
9 INT. ROOM 715, GLEN MOHR - EVENING(FLASHBACK) 9
Arjun stands, smoking nervously. We can see the snowy
mountain landscape behind him, covered in the last bits of
sunlight. Naina’s voice runs in the background.
NAINA (V.O.)
Arjun and I had been seeing each
other for 3 months. Someone found
out and tried to blackmail us. We
were following their instructions.
Arjun looks, following his view we see Naina, equally
worried, sitting on the edge of the bed.

NAINA
They wanted 100,000 pounds.
BADAL
(agreeing)
Yes, better to buy someone’s
silence than to face a million
pounds divorce.
NAINA
(repentant)
I never wanted to divorce my
husband. Lose my child. I love
them. I made a mistake with Arjun.

BADAL
(checking his files)
Why that hotel? 562 miles away from
your lives?
NAINA
I don’t know.
BADAL
You didn’t find it odd they picked
somewhere so out of the way?
NAINA
I didn’t think about it.
BADAL
Had you and Arjun been there
before?
NAINA
Who cares which hotel it was. The
issue here is someone pinned a
murder on me.
BADAL
Everything is important Naina. God
is in the details. Right now you
are my eyes. Like Sanjay to
Dhritarashtra..
NAINA
Who?
BADAL
You must have read the Mahabharat?
NAINA
When I was young. I know the basic
story line.
Badal lets out a loud laugh..
BADAL
“Basic story line”.. I like that.
I need to you see EVERYTHING
clearly in your head and give me
every single detail.
(pauses)
First, let’s talk about the message
on your cell phone.
We hear a WOLF WHISTLE in the background..
11 INT. ROOM 715, GLEN MOHR - NIGHT(FLASHBACK) 11
Flakes of fire flies into the air. Arjun who was poking the
log fire with an iron poke, turns hearing the whistle..
NAINA (V.O.)
We had been waiting for two hours..
Naina sitting on the bed, reads the message which came on her
mobile. Her expression changes to that of concern.

ARJUN
Something wrong?
NAINA
(not sure)
He picked up your mobile and sent
me a message from it..
Naina shows Arjun the text..
CLOSE OF TEXT -- From ARJUN -- “I am going to tell everyone
the truth. Room 715. Glen Mohr Hotel”
Arjun decides on the spot. He is sharp.
ARJUN
It’s a trap. We’re leaving. Get
your coat. I’ll get the money.
Arjun rushes to the bedroom to get the money. Naina picks her
coat up and hurried puts it on, using the mirror in the room.
She senses something -- But before she can turn, a PERSON,
whose face is hidden in the darkness, suddenly appears out of
nowhere
Naina has no time to react. The person SLAMS her head against
the wall mirror and with the sound of the SLAM we see..
12 INT. LIVING ROOM, NAINA’S APARTMENT - EVENING(REAL TIME) 12
CLOSE of Naina’s scared face.
NAINA
I was unconscious for a few
minutes. And when I woke up, the
nightmare began.
Badal starts asking Naina for details. Making his notes..
13 I/E. ROOM 715 / CORRIDOR OUTSIDE - NIGHT(FLASHBACK) 13
BADAL (V.O.)
What’s the first thing you
remember?
Naina regains consciousness. Her head hurting like hell.
There are some muffled noises she can hear -- But still a few
moments away from clarity. She tries to compose herself.
NAINA (V.O.)
The BANGING on the door..
As Naina sits up, the muffled sound becomes clearer. Somebody
is banging on the front door..
POLICE OFFICER (V.O.)
Police..
OUTSIDE ROOM 715 -- We see a group of people have gathered
outside the room including four policemen. One of them
continues to knock on the door..

POLICE OFFICER
Are you all right?
INSIDE ROOM 715 -- Naina walks towards the door, while
nursing her head, when she notices something on the floor..
CLOSE, POV - A thick decorative figurine sculpted out of a
single piece of rock, with blood stains on it lying on the
floor.
The BANGING continues outside while a dazed Naina walks to
the figurine and picks it up. It’s heavy. Blood still
dripping from one corner. Naina’s eye go to the bloodstains
on the floor leading to the bedroom.
POLICE OFFICER (V.O.)
(impatient)
Police. Open up.
OUTSIDE ROOM 715 -- The police officer has had enough of
banging. He orders one of the hotel employees in the crowd..
POLICE OFFICER
Open the door. Now.
The employee unlocks the door with a master key as..
INSIDE ROOM 715 -- Naina hears the room being unlocked. And
only then notices the horror that lay right in front of her..
POV - The bedroom. The briefcase lying open in one corner and
the cash money inside now scattered all over the floor. And
amongst the money, Arjun’s feet sticking out as he lies still
on the floor.
OUTSIDE ROOM 715 -- The police officer tells the hotel
employee..
POLICE OFFICER (CONT’D)
Step aside..
With caution, the officer pushes the door open..
INSIDE ROOM 715 -- Naina rushes to see Arjun lying dead on
the floor with a huge gash on his head.
NAINA
(horrified)
Arjun?
OUTSIDE ROOM 715 -- The police officer tries to open the door
but is stopped by the chain on the door. The officer takes a
call -- He draws out his revolver from his holster and shouts
a final warning to the guest inside..
INSIDE ROOM 715 -- Naina frantically tries to wake Arjun up..
POLICE OFFICER (V.O.)
Can you hear me? We know you are in
there! OPEN THE DOOR!
NAINA
Arjun? Arjun? No, No..

Naina starts crying as she tries to wake Arjun up -- NOTHING!


Giving up she screams for help..
NAINA (CONT’D)
HELP! Somebody help me please!
At the same time, the officer KICKS the door with full force,
ripping the chain off the door. They enter.. Cautious and
careful..
POLICE OFFICER
Police!
NAINA
HELP. Please help me.
The police moves in to see the figurine on the floor --
Notices the blood. Almost immediately they see Naina kneeling
beside Arjun’s dead body..
POLICE OFFICER
Get up! Slowly. Hands where I can
see them..
NAINA
There is someone in the room.
POLICE OFFICER
Ma’am please. Hands where I can see
them..
NAINA
I didn’t do anything. There was
someone else this room.
POLICE OFFICER
Hands behind your head. Please stay
where you are..
Naina cannot be bothered to listen. She walks toward the
police trying to explain to them..
NAINA
Can you not hear me? I didn’t do
anything. There was a man in my
room. I swear..
The police officer points his gun at her. Naina stops.
Flustered, scared, still trying to comprehend..
POLICE OFFICER
Get on the floor. NOW.
Naina obeys. The police officer handcuffs her while another
tries to keep the outside crowd away from the room..
POLICE OFFICER (CONT’D)
(cuffing)
Please don’t resist..
POLICE OFFICER 2
(to the crowd)
Everybody.. OUT

Naina tries to plead as she is cuffed, crying..


NAINA
He can’t be far.. Please
Her vision directly in the line to see the body Arjun lying
amongst the scattered notes.. And we go back to
14 INT. LIVING ROOM, NAINA’S APARTMENT - EVENING(REAL TIME) 14
A silent Naina sits quietly in front of Badal. The experience
still haunts her. Badal allows her a moment while he pulls up
a file -- He doesn’t have the time to mope!
BADAL
The police report says that..
As Badal speaks we see the visual representations of what
Badal reads out from the police file -- THE EXISTING FACTS!
15 I/E. CORRIDOR / ROOM 715 - NIGHT(FLASHBACK) 15
Police Officers question the guests -- Most shaking their
heads to the questions..
BADAL (V.O.)
Witnesses heard screams but didn’t
see anyone leave the room..
We see the door of room 715 open -- The police analyze the
chain lock.. Dusts it for prints..
BADAL (V.O.)
Which was locked as well as,
chained from inside..
16 I/E. ROOM 715, GLEN MOHR - NIGHT(FLASHBACK) 16
Officers study the windows of the room, both from inside and
outside, standing on cranes, using flashlights.
BADAL (V.O.)
The report also says that no
windows could be opened from the
inside because in the cold months
the hotel removes the handles, and
they hadn’t been forced.
The windows are locked from inside. Impossible to open. An
employee give the police a CUSTOM ALAN KEY to open the window
with -- The KEY locks into the slot and opens the window.
BADAL (V.O.)
They checked every possible way to
get out of the room, without being
seen..
INSIDE ROOM 715 -- The police checks EVERY possible exit and
entry to the room. The windows, the door, the keyhole.. One
police officer light the shaft of the chimney with a
flashlight, revealing another police officer climbing up..

But it was impossible without
leaving traces.
17 EXT. ROOF, GLEN MOHR - NIGHT(FLASHBACK) 17
The officer climbs out of the chimney on to the roof. Checks.
The snow on the roof is untouched. No footprints.
BADAL (V.O.)
And they didn’t find any.
18 INT. LIVING ROOM, NAINA’S APARTMENT - EVENING(REAL TIME) 18
Badal closes the police file.
BADAL
So according to your version,
Arjun’s murderer.. Simply
disappeared!
NAINA
That’s right.
BADAL
Before he got out, he had to get
in.
NAINA
He was there when we arrived.
BADAL
Areh! But he had to get in somehow!
And the hotel staff said only YOU
had access to the room key.
NAINA
It was a setup.
19 EXT. GLEN MOHR HOTEL - MORNING(FLASHBACK) 19
NAINA (V.O.)
The whole crime scene was set up to
frame me and..
Naina is escorted out of the hotel by the police and taken to
a police helicopter waiting outside on the ground..
NAINA (V.O.)
Give the police the false theory
that Arjun fell in a love with me
and to protect my marriage I tried
to buy him off. When he refused I
killed him.
Naina gets into the helicopter which takes off and rises over
the snow covered land.. And flies out of the frame..
NAINA (V.O.)
But it’s ridiculous, a trap..
BADAL (V.O.)
Whose trap?

I don’t know.
BADAL (V.O.)
Why?
20 INT. LIVING ROOM, NAINA’S APARTMENT - EVENING(REAL TIME) 20
NAINA
(repentant)
I DON’T KNOW. I just know..
21 INT. VISITING ROOM, PRISON - DAY(FLASHBACK) 21
NAINA (V.O.)
My husband’s left me and taken my
son..
Naina’s husband, SUNIL, disgusted, hangs up the speaking
phone on Naina and walks away.. Naina sits alone in her
cubicle..
NAINA (V.O.)
And someone’s getting away with it.
22 INT. PRISON CELL - DAY(FLASHBACK) 22
Naina paces up and down in her prison cell. She tries to
think and nothing makes sense to her.
BADAL (V.O.)
But the police say that nobody had
a motive to destroy you like this..
So your story of this invisible
murderer..
23 INT. LIVING ROOM, NAINA’S APARTMENT - EVENING(REAL TIME) 23
BADAL
(matter of fact)
Sounds very make believe.
NAINA
It’s not my job to find the
murderer. The police should find
him.
BADAL
(smiling)
But they have. You.
Naina is quiet. As frustrating as that is, but that is the
reality.
BADAL (CONT’D)
Right now, forget the jury even I’m
finding it difficult to believe
your story. Naina I can only help
you.. If you give me the details.
NAINA
I’m telling you what happened. I
don’t know what more you want.

Badal thinks to himself, slightly amused. He looks at the


watch. !0 MINUTES OVER.. He gets up -- Time to put things in
place. Naina should know who she has hired.
BADAL
You know Naina.. In my 40 years of
experience.. I’ve met two types of
client. Those who accept their
situation and collaborate, even if
that means they have to go where
they don’t want to.. And then those
who think they are smarter than I
am and want me to get them off
without getting dirty. You are the
second type. But let me be very
clear.. You are not smarter than I
am and.. There will be no salvation
without suffering.
Naina is a little taken aback, the otherwise happy man sounds
a little strict now. Badal reaches out and pulls out a
newspaper clipping from his file.. Naina sees a..
CLOSE - NEWSPAPER ARTICLE - YOUTH MISSING IN DALNEIGH
A young boy of 20 years old, Sunny Singh Toor, has
disappeared without a trace in Dalneigh near Inverness,
Scotland.
BADAL (CONT’D)
You know anything about this? This
place ‘Danleigh’.. Isn’t this near
Glen Mohr?
Naina looks at the photo of the boy, her face obviously
recognizing the news item. She’s quiet.
BADAL (CONT’D)
Now what do you think will happen..
If the prosecutor’s new witness is
able to connect you with this?
Naina looks at Badal.
BADAL (CONT’D)
We have already wasted 10 minutes
Naina. I will ask you one final
time. Do you know who the person
was in your hotel room?
(Naina shakes her head)
You don’t! And till we don’t.. YOU
ARE THAT PERSON. Clear? So if you
want me to find the truth and keep
you out of jail.. I need you to
trust me.
(points to the article)
Give me every single detail. And..
I implore you. Please don’t lie to
me anymore.
Naina looks at the stop watch. From 10:00 the clock changes
to 11:00..

of herself with her daughter and husband. A look of regret
comes on her face. She looks at Badal.. And we see
24 EXT. HOLIDAY COTTAGE - DAY(FLASHBACK) 24
A WIDE shot of a holiday cottage in the middle of nowhere. An
independent cottage surrounded by the woods. A black Audi Q7
stands parked in front of the cottage with the registration
plate N 4 INA but written as N4INA
NAINA (V.O.)
It all started three months ago and
not a moment goes by that I don’t
regret my decision..
BADAL (V.O.)
(butting in)
WHOA!
25 INT. LIVING ROOM, NAINA’S APARTMENT - EVENING(REAL TIME) 25
Badal can’t handle it.. Enough!
BADAL
Naina.. Even the furniture in this
room knows that you regret your
affair. However, You don’t win
murder cases with emotion. You win
cases with FACTS and DETAILS. So
lets keep this regret and emotion
aside and focus purely on the
details, yeah? Thank you.
Naina looks at Badal, who politely smiles back and urges her
to continue.. And we get a..

FLOOR LEVEL VIEW -- of clothes thrown all over the place. All
signs of a torrid night. A bottle of expensive champagne
lying empty, glasses, a camera.. A pair of naked feet enters
frame - Obviously that of Naina - and stops. Her hand comes
down in to the frame and picks up the bra and the shirt lying
on the rug.
27 EXT. HOLIDAY COTTAGE - DAY 27
Naina stands outside the cottage.. Dialling a number on her
phone. It’s quite chilly -- She pulls her collar up and
brings out a cigarette packet from her pocket. Ideal weather
to have a smoke. Sunil answers..
SUNIL (O.S.)
Hey, How’s Paris?
NAINA
Full of French people..
28 INT. LIVING ROOM, NAINA’S APARTMENT - DAY(FLASHBACK) 28
Sunil is in the same apartment that we have been seeing.. But

The baby gurgles some sound in reply.. Suddenly the sound of
her daughter’s voice makes Naina feel guilty.. She goes quiet

Arjun comes out from inside, dressed, carrying his backpack.
They both get in the car. Naina drives. A song plays on the
radio as..

We see SEVERAL shots -- Following the Audi through an
isolated mountain area with thick forests and large lakes
while..

Arjun CLICKS endless photos of the scenic outside as they
drive.. Mountains, lakes, snow, Naina.. Every time he clicks,
the frame FREEZES. The song continues playing in the radio.
Naina quietly drive. That whole daughter incident has had an
effect on her..
Arjun checks the photos he has clicked. Gorgeous photos of
the lakes and the mountains behind.. He runs though the
photos.. A few that he clicked the day before.

The Audi comes to a stop at a T-Junction. The roads are
narrow and single lane. A signs warns of DEER CROSSING..

to turn right.

Yeah.. But it’s quicker this way..
Naina checks her watch and takes a left..

We are so late. I need to be home
tonight.
ARJUN
These are empty roads.. You can

Naina looks at Arjun.. Arjun nods.. Naina presses the
accelerator a little more.. The Audi speeds up..
ARJUN (CONT’D)
You want me to drive?
NAINA
(thoughtful)
You are already driving.
Arjun notices the different Naina. He shifts closer to her..
Strokes her hair and her neck..
ARJUN
Hey.. What’s wrong?
Naina’s eyes grow watery.
NAINA
I do nothing but lie.
ARJUN
No you don’t.
NAINA
I can’t do this anymore. I can’t
lie to my family anymore.
ARJUN
But being with me makes you happy,
doesn’t it? I love how I feel when
we’re together..
NAINA
Remember what we said when we
started this?
ARJUN
That we both wanted the experience.
NAINA
We also said when the time came..

Arjun lovingly pulls Naina’s face towards him..
ARJUN
You want to stop seeing me?
Naina doesn’t know what to do.. She is visibly torn but a
decision needs to be made. She looks at Arjun..
NAINA
Yes.
In the split second that Naina turns to Arjun.. A deer
crosses the road.. At the same time, another car, a FORD
FIESTA, appears, speeding around the bend on the other side
of the road. Naina doesn’t even get time to think.
She SLAMS on the brakes, swerving the car, trying not hit the
deer.. The Audi skids to the opposite side of the road and
heads directly towards the oncoming Fiesta. Naina tries hard
to keep control.. Through her windscreen, she can see the
Fiesta is bang in front of her.. Naina turns the car a
complete right.. Her rear bumper scraping the front of the
Fiesta. On impact, the Fiesta spins and drives straight into
the side of the road. Naina brakes hard to stop the Audi on
one side of the road. The pandemonium comes to a silence.
Naina, panting, removes her hand from the steering wheel. Her
hands still trembling, she tries to get her breathing in
control. Arjun is also in the same state.
ARJUN
You okay?
NAINA
I don’t know.
Through her windscreen Naina can see the Fiesta crashed into
the side of the road. Smoke pouring out of the car, the motor
still running. Arjun hurriedly gets out of the Audi and..
34 EXT. ROAD, ACCIDENT SPOT - DAY(FLASHBACK) 34
Walks over to the Ford Fiesta. Naina also gets out and
follows Arjun. Both concerned. The car doesn’t look good.
They reach the car and find a twenty year old young boy,
unconscious, behind the wheel. This is same boy we saw in the
newspaper, Sunny Singh Toor.

Sunny is not wearing his seat belt, bleeding profusely from


the head which must have crashed into the broken window.
Arjun knocks on the window..
ARJUN
Hey..
No response. Arjun opens the door.. And gently shakes the
boy..
ARJUN (CONT’D)
Are you okay?
But the boy sits still like the mountain the car has crashed
into. Blood dripping from his head, into his shirt. Arjun
turns to Naina. Tense silence. It’s obvious that the boy is
dead. Naina is horrified. This is the last thing she needed.
She starts fidgeting, not knowing what to do. She brings out
her mobile.
Arjun looks inside the car. The boy had his mobile charging,
we hear incoming text on the boy’s mobile which flashes. The
seat belt is in it’s original place. The boy wasn’t wearing
it. Arjun turns to tell Naina and see her calling someone.
Arjun rushes to her..
ARJUN (CONT’D)
What are you doing?
NAINA
I’m calling the police.
ARJUN
It wasn’t our fault. It was the
deer.
NAINA
No. I went into his lane.
ARJUN
It was an accident. Plus he wasn’t
wearing his belt. He was on his
phone.
NAINA
You made me drive fast. Else I
could have controlled the car..
ARJUN
Listen to me Naina.. Think. It’s
either him or us.
Naina walks away. She doesn’t want to hear what Arjun is
suggesting. Arjun goes after her.
ARJUN (CONT’D)
Nobody saw anything. Nobody knows
anything. Everything is still the
same. Your family. Your husband,
your daughter, your career.. My
family. My career. Nothing has
changed. But this..
(pointing to the car)

Arjun and Naina rush back to the Audi. Gets in.
35 INT. AUDI - DAY(FLASHBACK) 35
There is a sense of rush. Both of them knows what they are
doing is wrong but.. It has to be done. Seat belts on.. Naina
presses the START button.. Nothing! She presses again.. Then
again and again but..
NAINA
It won’t start! What the fuck! It
won’t start!
Naina frantically presses the START button..
NAINA (CONT’D)
Come on.. Please start.. Please
Arjun watches Naina, when he hears something. He turns to see
outside his window..
ARJUN
Fuck! Naina?
NAINA
What?
Arjun gets out of the car to be doubly sure..
ARJUN
I can hear a car..
36 EXT. AUDI - DAY(FLASHBACK) 36
Arjun sees below -- And in the long winding mountain road, he
can see a car coming up towards them.. It’s only a matter of
time..
Arjun takes a call. The man has a presence of mind. There’s
not a moment to lose.. He shouts out to Naina..
ARJUN
Get out of then car.. NOW!
Naina gets out while Arjun rushes to the Ford Fiesta ahead.
ARJUN (CONT’D)
Stay!
NAINA
What are we doing? Where are you
going?

ARJUN
Just follow my lead..
Naina looks.. Tense moment. The road is empty.. But almost as
if some monster is about to appear from one end..
Arjun rushes to the Fiesta. In precision moves -- He grabs
the dead boy by the shoulder and makes him flat on the seat,
turns off the engine. Opens the glove compartment and takes
out some paper and rushes back to Naina when -- A car appears
at the end of the road heading for them.
The approaching car slows down and lowers the window. A
middle aged man inside. More than likely a local.
DRIVER
What happened? Need any help?
ARJUN
No thanks. My car skid and hit
hers. But we’re okay. Insurance
stuff now..
DRIVER
You need me to call an ambulance or
something?
NAINA
(laughing)
No no. We’re okay. No damage done.
The driver looks at Naina. A very pretty girl but somewhat
dishevelled..
DRIVER
You sure?
Naina smiles assuring the driver. Suddenly the dead boy’s
phone start ringing. The sound cutting into the silent air.
The driver looks -- Arjun applies his presence of mind again.
ARJUN
Must be the insurance company. Be
right back.
Arjun goes to the Fiesta and takes out the mobile from the
charger -- JAZZ calling, a pretty teenager -- Arjun cuts the
call pretending to answer..
ARJUN (CONT’D)
Yes. I’ll just call you back in a
few minutes. All good..
The driver decides to drive ahead. He catches up with Arjun
and stops, trying to assess the damage to the Fiesta. Arjun
tries to block his view off the boy’s body..
DRIVER
Looks scary. Glad nobody got hurt..
Arjun puts the mobile in his jacket pocket.

Me too. Frikkin Deer popped up from
nowhere.. Thanks anyway..
DRIVER
Yep. Big nuisance them deer! Take
care..
Arjun waves a goodbye. The man drives away. Naina and Arjun
watch the car disappear down the road. Arjun curses.. Goes
back inside the Fiesta and opens the trunk.. Then he goes
over to the dead kid’s body and starts dragging him out of
the car..
NAINA
(shocked)
What are you doing?
ARJUN
We have to get rid of the body.
NAINA
What? Why? Are you crazy?
ARJUN
What if he saw something?
NAINA
He didn’t see anything.
ARJUN
He is a witness. If we leave the
kid here, they’ll know we lied.
Naina goes quiet, frozen.
ARJUN (CONT’D)
Help me pick him up.
(pleading)
Please.
Together they put the boy’s body in the trunk. It seemed
like taking forever.
ARJUN (CONT’D)
You stay here and wait for help,
and I’ll get rid of the body..
NAINA
What you going to do with it?
ARJUN
I don’t know, I have to get rid
of.. fucking.. EVERYTHING!
Arjun SLAMS the trunk shut.
37 INT. FORD FIESTA - DAY(FLASHBACK) 37
Arjun gets into the Fiesta -- Turns the key ignition key. The
car immediately KICKS forward and stalls.

38 EXT. ROAD, ACCIDENT SPOT - DAY(FLASHBACK) 38
Arjun gets out of the Fiesta. Shouts out to Naina..

Naina you have to do it. This is a
manual car. I can’t drive it.
NAINA
What am I suppose to do?
ARJUN
Just take it. Dump it somewhere.
Get rid of it.
Naina is completely reluctant. Arjun convinces her.
ARJUN (CONT’D)
Naina.. You have to do it. For us.
After that if you want.. We stop
seeing each other. It’s over.
NAINA (V.O.)
Arjun convinced me.
Naina drives the Fiesta away as Arjun watches.
39 EXT. VARIOUS ROADS, FOREST AREA - DAY(FLASHBACK) 39
Naina drives, aimlessly, in the Ford Fiesta. She’s nervous,
sweating.. Absolutely no clue about what she has to do..
NAINA (V.O.)
I drove for almost over an hour.
And all I could think about was why
I was there instead of with my
family.
40 INT. LIVING ROOM, NAINA’S APARTMENT - EVENING(REAL TIME) 40
NAINA
If I hadn’t been with Arjun, if we
hadn’t overslept, if I hadn’t taken
that left turn... that deer would
have never crossed my path. Never.
Naina goes quiet, affected. Badal allows her that moment.
There is a concern in his voice.
BADAL
If you trust me, you’ll survive
this. Tell me what you did with the
car?
NAINA
I buried it.

41 I/E. FORD FIESTA / BRIDGE, LARGE LAKE - EVENING(FLASHBACK) 41
Naina driving. Suddenly she spots something outside. Naina
stops the car and gets out. She is on a bridge crossing a
huge swamp. Naina looks over the rail and then over at the
other side: more water leading away. Evening is setting in.
The lights on the bridge comes on.
42 I/E. FORD FIESTA / ROAD, SWAMP - EVENING(FLASHBACK) 42
The headlights of the Fiesta light up an otherwise dark and
dense undergrowth of the forest. It drives several yards and
stops before a swamp.
Naina gets out of the car and puts it in neutral. She starts
pushing it towards the swamp when suddenly she hears a noise
behind her. She turns, frightened, to see
POV - A deer. Staring at her.
Naina and the deer look at each other for a few seconds and
finally the deer runs away, disappearing back into the
bushes.
Naina sees the swamp in front of her. She hesitates a moment,
then gathers all her strength and pushes the car towards the
water, using her shoulder for leverage.
The car slides into the water, further and further, until
water fills the interior and the weight sinks it head first.
Finally it sinks as Naina watches, falling to her knees and
bursting into tears.
NAINA (V.O.)
I kept hearing Arjun’s words in my
head...
43 INT. LIVING ROOM, NAINA’S APARTMENT - EVENING(REAL TIME) 43
Naina’s eyes hold back tears.
NAINA
It was an accident. And there was
nothing we could do for that kid.
He had no future. But we did.
Naina points at the hotel across from them: hundreds of lives
projected through its windows, anonymous people who look like
ants.
NAINA (CONT’D)
That kid was like any one of those
strangers, and I had to learn to
see it that way to keep myself from
going insane.

of the road. She rushes in. The Audi drives away.

Arjun drives the Audi, tense. Naina notices the change --
Arjun is quiet and completely fucked in the head..
NAINA
What happened?
Arjun shakes his head as if to get rid of some bad thoughts..
ARJUN
It was horrible...
We move in CLOSER on Arjun as he tells his story..
46 I/E. AUDI / ROAD, ACCIDENT SPOT - DAY(FLASHBACK) 46
EARLIER SCENE 38 CONTINUED. We see Naina leave to get rid of
the Ford Fiesta while Arjun speaks on his mobile..
ARJUN
No, I’m fine.. But I need a tow
truck. My car won’t start. Where am
I? I don’t know man.. The GPS is..
Yep.. Fucked!
Arjun tries to get the GPS of the Audi to work -- But no
luck! He hangs up, cursing his luck..
ARJUN (CONT’D)
Let me call you back..
Not knowing how to figure his position out, Arjun lights up a
cigarette WHEN, he sees..
POV - A Range Rover appears around the bend. Seeing the Audi
stranded, the Range puts on it’s HAZARD lights and cross over
to the other side to face the Audi and comes to a stop.
Arjun watches as a couple gets out of the car. A man and a
woman in their late fifties maybe. Both are well dressed. The
woman more vibrant, while the man appears more vulnerable,
someone who probably is recovering from a chemo therapy
treatment. Arjun gets out of the car -- He wasn’t expecting
to see an Indian couple in the middle of nowhere.
WOMAN
Hello.. Are you okay?

Yes. A deer suddenly came and hit
my car.. But I’m okay thank you.
WOMAN
Thank god. It could have been
worse! Is the car okay? You look
stranded..
ARJUN
Lost power. It won’t start. Would
you know which area this is? I need

WOMAN
I’ll do better than that. I will
give you the whole garage..
The woman is probably the most happiest person Arjun has ever
met in his life.
ARJUN

Meaning?
WOMAN

WOMAN

is blocked. It happens on a sudden
impact. The unit needs to be reset.

As the light falls.. The Ranges tows the Audi through the
dense forest area. From inside we can hear a chatter..

Nirmal drives the Range while Rani sits beside him -- But
turned back to chat with Arjun in the rear seat. Arjun, even
though not in the right frame of mind, attempts a polite
conversation. Rani fires away. Like a machine gun.

RANI
What you doing in these parts?
ARJUN
(making up)
I.. Er.. Came to meet my sister in
Craigton..
RANI
Areh! We used to stay there first.
Nimbi used to work there.. Then we
shifted to Danleigh after this man
fell ill. Now We live in a more
quieter place.. He works in a hotel
nearby and I stay in the house and
enjoy the silence.
NIRMAL
Not really. No place is silent when
Rani is around.

The Range come to a stop in front of an old English
farmhouse, made out of stone. Very well maintained, the
garden outside properly landscaped..
The three of them gets out of the car. Rani heads for the
house.. She gestures to Arjun..

Arjun is not sure. He just wants to fix the car and get out.

Arjun comes out of the washroom into a large landing. An old

Archie sits with Naina in a room which, has a large mirror as
one the walls. Detective Sergeant SONDHI(40) sits across and
take out some photographs of the area around where Naina and
Arjun had the accident. The deer crossing sign catches
Naina’s eye.
POV - A TOP VIEW photo - SKID marks of two cars.

The police in Inverness found
debris from two collisions about
three miles from this missing kid’s
house.

But no accidents were reported. The
strange thing is, the kid’s parents

Naina is quiet. She does not know what to say. Sondhi puts an

not very accurate but a definite resemblance is there..

No. What you’re TRYING is.. To

The pay phone starts ringing. Inside the X5, Naina and Arjun
look at each other.. Naina checks the car clock. It’s 5 P.M.

What do we do?
ARJUN
I want to know what’s going on.
Arjun gets out of the car and runs across the street to
answer the phone. Badal and Naina2 watches.
BADAL
Why didn’t you go with him?
NAINA2
He said it’s better that we’re not
seen together.
ARJUN
(into telephone)
Hello?
Badal and Naina2 are now beside the booth, hearing Arjun.
DISTORTED VOICE (O.S.)
Have you got the money?
ARJUN
Yes.
BADAL
The blackmailer told you to go to
the Glen Mohr hotel with the money.
Room 715. Also told Arjun to drop
his phone in the trash can.
Arjun sees the trash can. Looks at the trash can, hesitates..
BADAL (CONT’D)
But Arjun had no choice. It was
either the phone or the police
finding Sunny’s body.
Arjun has no option but to throw his mobile in the bin. Walks
over to tell Naina in the car while Badal and Naina2 watches.
BADAL (CONT’D)
But we still need to figure WHY the
blackmailer changed his mind!

Arjun and Naina separately gets into the cog train. Badal and

the hotel. Badal and Naina2 also gets off.

Naina waits while Arjun walk across the foot bridge to the
main foyer and the Reception of the hotel.

Arjun walks up to the receptionist.

The girl checks the computer..
RECEPTIONIST
Yes.. Under the name of Naina

Arjun nods. The receptionist hands him a card..

Please fill up this card. I’ll get

Badal who is standing at the counter with Naina2 observes the
receptionist taking the room key out of the key rack.
BADAL
So the room key was at the desk. No
one had access to it before Arjun.

Holding the room key in his hand, Arjun comes out of the
lift, walks down a hallway with a HUGE MIRROR. He stops in
front of room 715, opens the lock and enters the room.
The room, it’s decor and furniture are a reminiscence of the
70s. Arjun goes over to the window from which, he can see
Naina below. Smoking away furiously.
REVERSE ANGLE - Naina standing at the train station sees
Arjun, gesturing her to come up. She stubs out the cigarette.

Arjun throws the blackmailers envelope in the log fire. The
MP3 player and the photo gets consumed by the fire.

BADAL
What you didn’t realize was that
someone was already in the room..
Naina2 looks at Badal - They really didn’t.
A knock at the door. Arjun opens it. It’s Naina.
ARJUN
Did anyone see you?
Naina shakes his head and walks in. Arjun shuts the door.
NAINA
Did he leave any instructions?
ARJUN
(shakes her head)
We’ll have to wait.
BADAL
Whoever was in that closet waited
till it got dark..
NAINA2
Why?
BADAL
(figuring it out)
Because he didn’t want your money.
A wolf whistle in the background.. And we see..
IN SUCCESSION OF QUICK CUTS:
Naina reads the message on her mobile. Her expression changes
to that of concern.
ARJUN
Something wrong?
NAINA
(not sure)
He picked up your mobile and sent
me a message..
CLOSE OF TEXT -- From ARJUN -- “I am going to tell everyone
the truth. Room 715. Glen Mohr Hotel”
ARJUN
It’s a trap. We’re leaving. I’ll
get the money.
Arjun rushes to the bedroom to get the money.

Naina puts on her coat. SENSES something -- A person suddenly


appears. SLAMS her head against the mirror.
Arjun hears the sound, while checking the money.
ARJUN (CONT’D)
Naina?
A gloved hand picks up the rock figurine.
Arjun checks the money. Shuts the briefcase. Turns. The rock
figurine HITS him hard on the head. Arjun drops to the floor.
The intruder looks at the lifeless body of Arjun on the floor
and then at the mirror in front : It’s Rani. She lifts the
figurine again to make sure. The image FREEZES.
NAINA (V.O.)
WHOA!

Naina gives Badal a puzzled look, caught up in the story.
NAINA
You think the man in the room was
Rani?
BADAL
You don’t? It’s a believable
theory to base your defense on.
Rani Kaur had a strong motive to
commit a murder, something a judge
and a jury might buy.
(pause)
If a mother knows that the police
are protecting the people behind
her son’s disappearance, she has
only one option.. Force them to
confess to what they did.
NAINA
(deducing, hopeful)
And killing of one of us to frame
the other was a way to do that..

Correct. And it worked perfectly.

Naina opens the file. Inside are various press clippings
with photographs of the scene of the crime. All of the
elements presented during the story. Naina looks at the

NAINA

Badal sips a steaming cup of coffee. Naina sits like an eager
child in front of him. She is seeing some hope of relief.

enters. She goes straight to the wall beside the closet and

Nirmal on the other side hears the knock. He replies with a
knock.
BADAL
Ahhh hence room 715.. So they could
communicate.
Nirmal partially opens the window of the store room using a
customized ALAN key which he takes out. There are many more.
BADAL (CONT’D)
That’s the only key which opens and
locks the window..

Nirmal enters and gives the SAME key to Rani who gives
Arjun’s mobile to Nirmal. Rani is determined, she heads for
the closet, fully knowing what she is about to do. Nirmal
watches, Rani stops and looks back at him for the final
support.. Nirmal accepts and leaves the room, closing it.
Rani gets inside the closet.. And waits.
BADAL
That’s how Rani could get into the
room without leaving any evidence.
And then she just had to wait.

The scene was set. Everything to

Rani comes out on the ledge and closes the window from

Voila! Our murderer mysteriously
disappears!
(turns to Naina2)
And then when the police came

A SERIES OF CUTS:
Nirmal leads a group of policemen to room 715. Rani sees them
as she comes out of the store room. She goes the other way.
The police asks Nirmal to open the door.
The police asks Naina to get on the floor, while Nirmal
discreetly shuts the window from inside with his key. One
police man calls it in..

Send forensics. We found a dead
body.

Rani walks on the foot bridge and gets into the train leaving
the hotel.

The prosecutor’s witness?
BADAL
We now know who she is..
NAINA

Arjun lets Naina in, checks the corridors, all empty. Naina
shows him the text..
NAINA
What is this?
Badal watching the drama, sitting on the sofa..
BADAL
So Arjun told you his plan..
ARJUN
The money is for them. You’ll tell
them where you buried their son and
we’ll surrender to the police.
BADAL
And as expected you went berserk ..
NAINA
No we fucking won’t. We are going
to leave right now.
ARJUN
Too late. I’ve already called the
parents. They’ll be here any minute
now.
NAINA
Are you crazy? We have to go.
ARJUN
There is no going back. This room
is booked in your name. They know
you are here.
Badal gets up from the sofa, curious to know what is going
happen next. Is it what he thinks had happened?
BADAL
(thinking it through)
You calculated all of your options,
and you realized that there was
only one way to escape from the
mess Arjun created for you.
Naina’s look darkens and her look goes to a solid rock
figurine. She decides in a fraction of a second. Naina grabs
the figurine, walks over to an unsuspecting Arjun, and before
he can realize, lands a deadly blow. Arjun screams and falls
to the floor, dead even before he hits the floor.
Guests outside in the corridor, outside room 715, hears the
scream.

BADAL
(dismissing her)

This is best part. Now you are
trapped in a room with a dead body
and no escape.. So what do you do?
In the background, someone knocks on the door..

Naina looks through the keyhole. There is an Hotel employee
along with the guests.. Slowly gathering in the corridor
HOTEL EMPLOYEE
Hello.. Is everything all right?
Naina silently puts the chain on the door. Goes to the window
and realizes that the windows don’t have handle. There’s no
way out, it’s impossible to escape without being seen. She
starts thinking. She takes out her phone and looks for
Arjun's message, about to erase it, but she doesn't.
BADAL (V.O.)
You thought the text might be
useful to you. And you looked for
elements on which you could base
your absurd theory.
Naina studies the briefcase and Arjun's body. She quickly
takes out the cash and throw it all across the room. Finds
Arjun’s phone and tosses it into the fire. Watches it burn.
BADAL (V.O.)
You got rid of the mobile to make
the world believe that the
blackmailer had it..
From outside a new voice..
POLICE OFFICER (V.O.)
Police. Open up!
A cold and mean look comes on Naina’s face as she hears the
police. She walks over to the large mirror. Poises herself
holding the mirror with both her hands.. Takes a deep breath
and.. SMASHES her own head against the mirror.

All this while I was thinking Rani

hasn’t Rani and Nirmal spoken up?
If Arjun told them the truth, why
didn’t they tell the police?
BADAL
You’ve been asking yourself that
question for some time now, but I
think you already know the answer.
NAINA
Still.. Tell me.
BADAL
They know you’ll never incriminate

Naina follows Badal and he points to the hotel across the

top floor. Look carefully Naina..
Naina, confused, fixes her gaze there: the mysterious
silhouette is still hidden behind the dimly lit curtains of
the window. She sees the person -- Rani.

Rani killed Arjun and Nirmal helped
him to escape.
BADAL

went to the hotel with Rani because

Badal is really angry. Naina looks.
POV - There is no reflection of Nirmal in the mirror.

Badal re-composes himself. It’s not like him to lose his

Badal starts folding up. Placing his files back in the case.
Naina is quiet. She is thinking, watching Badal pack.

Badal stops packing. Looks directly at Naina.

Hi, we’re not home right now. Leave
a message and we’ll call you back.
BEEP - The machine picks up the message..
ARCHIE (V.O.)
Naina, you there? Your mobile is
off. Call me. I have very good
news.
Naina checks her mobile. It’s off.
BADAL
(twinkle in his eyes)
‘Good News’ huh? Things working in
our favor already. You better call
him back while, I go and call the
wife. Tell her I’ll be out tonight.
NAINA
You can use my room.
BADAL
No. No.. I also need some fresh
air. Helps me to think better. Now
I know what to do with you.
NAINA

Badal smiles an acknowledgement and leaves. A happy Naina

Archie answers the call. Excuses himself from the man he was
talking with -- The driver.
ARCHIE
Naina. I found him. Now you were
never on that road.
NAINA
Can we trust him?
The driver discreetly looks into the briefcase Archie has
just given him -- It’s filled with cash money, shuts it.
ARCHIE
Hundred thousand percent!
As she talks Naina sees Rani still standing like a ghost at
the window. Uneasy, Naina walks to the table..
ARCHIE (CONT’D)

NAINA
You were right. He is the best. We

Badal comes out into the chilly night. Takes a deep breath
in. The chill in the air fills up his lungs. He raises his
collar to fight the cold.

distinct pen.. She picks it up to see it better..

(checking out the pen)

Suddenly there’s sharp interference on the phone and both of
them move their phones away from their ears.
ARCHIE
What the hell was that?

I have no idea. It’s coming from
this pen..
She brings the pen near the phone, again that sharp SCREECH!
ARCHIE
What the hell.. What pen?
The doorbell rings. Naina puts the pen back.
NAINA
Hang on Archie, I think Badal is
back..
ARCHIE
What pen Naina?
Naina opens the door.
NAINA
You’re back.. That was quick.
Badal is outside but.. Naina does a double take. IT’S NOT
BADAL but.. Someone who looks very similar to Badal. From far
you’d think it’s Badal.
REAL BADAL

Archie Punjabi sent me.
The man’s voice is exactly the same as the earlier Badal.

Badal checks his mobile. The STOP WATCH is still running. He
DOUBLE CLICKS and below the stop watch screen, another screen
appears -- a RECORDING screen. Badal STOPS recording.
183 INT. NAINA’S APARTMENT - NIGHT 183
Naina is horrified. She rummages though Badal’s file --
Except one, all others are in empty. A sense of fear and
panic grips Naina -- As she remembers..
FLASH CUT -- Badal always with the pen on him.
FLASH CUT -- Badal’s phone on the table.
FLASH CUT -- Badal asks Naina if she killed Arjun.
FLASH CUT -- Naina marking X on the map

Rani opens the door. Badal enters. There is moment of silence
and then Badal hands over the mobile and the map to her. Rani
looks at the X and breaks down. Her son’s death is finally a
reality. Badal tries to console her.

A dazed and confused Naina shuts the door on the new Badal
and walks over to the window. She sees Rani standing at the
window looking straight at her. They both stare at each other
-- And from behind Rani.. Badal appears.
They glare at each other through the window and.. Standing
beside Rani, Badal slowly removes his wig, moustache, beard,
eyebrows, contact lenses and puts his glasses on -- It’s
Nirmal! Naina STUNNED looks at Nirmal. And then at Rani..
Rani while looking at Naina, dials a number on her mobile..
VOICE (V.O.)
Police, can I help you?
RANI
My name is Rani Kaur. I know who
killed my son...
