1. Activate ICM Services through SICF and check FULL HOSTNAME for HTTP & HTTPS.

The hostname
should have fully qualified name like ******.com

The Internet Communication Manager (ICM) enables communication between your SAP system
and the Internet using the HTTP or HTTPS protocols for the NWBC applications.

NWBC (both the shell and most content area types) uses HTTP to access an ABAP server. It is
important that at a minimum one HTTP or HTTPS port is configured and active.

Any changes you make here are lost when you restart. If you want to create or change a service
permanently, you must do this using the profile parameter icm/server_port_<xx>.

Correct

Note: Web dispatcher can be placed before the AS ABAP system(s) to function as a reverse
proxy. The Web dispatcher is then normally configured to access the server through HTTPS (for
higher security) and to forward all data to the server through HTTP (for higher performance). In
these scenarios, pay special attention to the configuration of the HTTPURLLOC table in accordance
with the information in URL Generation in an AS-ABAP - Web Dispatcher Configuration.
2. Set HOSTNAME Parameter through Tcode: RZ10 for it to appear for ICM Service HTTP, SMTP and
HTTPS shown above.

The following variables and parameters are used to set the host names.
 SAPLOCALHOST
 SAPLOCALHOSTFULL
 icm/host_name_full

The ICM sets the FQHN in accordance with the hierarchy below:

1. Parameter SAPLOCALHOSTFULL in the SAP profile (recommended for high availability

configurations) has top priority. If it is set in the profile file, the ICM takes this as the FQHN
value.

Note that the system default value of SAPLOCALHOSTFULL contains the host name without the
domain, which is why the ICM ignores the system default.

2. If the parameter is not set, the value in SAPLOCALHOSTFULL icm/host_name_full is used.

3. If this parameter is also not set, the ICM takes the FQHN of the operating system. Check the
settings of the hosts file at operating system level. Parameter SAPLOCALHOST is not fully
qualified and is not used by the ICM for services.

SAP recommend you set either SAPLOCALHOSTFULL (for high availability configurations),
icm/host_name_full.

4. A host has the two fully qualified host names saphost.sap.com and ls12345.sap.com. If none of
the parameters specified is set, the name ls12345.sap.com is taken from the operating system
since this is the first one in the etc/hosts. If, however, you want the host to be addressed
externally by the name saphost.sap.com. To do this, set the parameters: icm/host_name_full =
saphost.sap.com.
