QAFAC DISCOVERER SETUP & INSTALLATION
Discoverer Installation
Use the Oracle Discoverer Administration Edition Version 4.1.37 for

Microsoft Windows (Part NO B11455-01). This CD is supplied with the Oracle
Applications software.
Installing Discoverer 4.1.37
Pre-Requisite
You should be logged onto the PC as an Administrator or as an User who has

administration privileges for the PC.
Software Installation
Discoverer should always be installed in the Default Home directory which is

C:\ORANT.

Select Complete Installation with Tutorial and click on OK.
Click on OK
Click on OK

Click on OK
Click on OK

Installing Discoverer patch

4.1.48.06.00 (Patch# 3201601)
Pre-Requisite
a) You should be logged onto the PC as an Administrator or as an User who

has administration privileges for the PC.
b) Discoverer 4.1.37 should be installed
c) Go the directory C:\ORANT\DISCVR4\JA and create a directory
RELNOTES.
Patch Installation
Specify as above and Click on OK.

Click on NO.
On the Left Panel select Oracle Discoverer 4.1.48.06.00 and click on the Install
Button.

If you have not created the directory as specified in Pre-requisite for Patch
Installation, you will get the above message a little while after
installation starts.
Solution
Go the directory C:\ORANT\DISCVR4\JA and create a directory RELNOTES.
After creating the directory come to the installation screen and click on RETRY
button. The installation will continue without any further problem.

Click on EXIT.
Click on YES.

Change to the directory C:\ORANT\NET80\ADMIN
Included the following in the TNSNAMES.ORA file and save.

Once the Above is done, you should be able to Login to Discoverer.

2.0.0. Creating End User Layer
Connect as SYSTEM

EUL Specification

Tablespaces Usage
Always create and use dedicated tablespace for Discoverer.
For example
DISD for Discoverer Definitions & Saving Work Books in the Database.
DIST Temporary Table Space for the exclusive use of Discoverer.

Create Business Areas
When you connect to an EUL which has no business areas do as follows for the
first business area you create.



Creating Subsequent Business Areas
Insert => Business Area => New
Will Create a business area with name <NewBusinessArea(N)>
Click on the Business Area and right click and select Properties

Creating Folders
Custom Folders
Click on the Business area and from the menu Insert => Folder => Custom
Pre-Requisite
Grants to the Tables, Functions or Packages where functions are used should be
given by APPS to the owner of the EUL.
Prefix all references to objects from apps with APPS.
 Give a name for your folder

 Paste the SQL Statement that constitutes your folder
 Click on Validate SQL to verify the script you have given
 Correct any errors and once the message ‘String is Valid’ appears, click on
OK.

Folders from Database
Pre-Requisite
Grants to the Tables, Functions or Packages where functions are used should be
given by APPS to the owner of the EUL.
Click on the Business area and from the menu

Insert => Folder => From Database

In the left pane, Select the tables for which grant has been given by APPS and
click on the right arrow.
 Click on Finish
 A folder with the name of the object you have selected will be created.

Supressing Display of Folders

Note : A folder may be created for linking up other folders. Such folders which
need not be shown to the user can be done as follows.
Select No if you don’t want the folder to be seen by any user who has access to
the Business area. By default the value is ‘Yes’.
