lesson? Yes Kira.
Kira: Our previous lesson was about the different
parts of the friendly letter.
Very good, thank you Kira.
So, our previous lesson was all about the
parts of the friendly letter. Who can give me
the different parts of a letter? Yes Mike. Mike: The different parts of the letter are Heading,
Very good! Greeting, Body of the Letter, Closing and
Signature.
Yes, that’s right! It is very important to know
the parts of the letter so that you can deliver
your message to your friend correctly. Alright? All: Yes ma’am

your books on page 127, “Find Out and Learn”

What did you observe with these words in the
sentences that you have read? Yes, Precious. Precious: There are words that connects the root
word ma’am.
Very good, the words are connected with un-
and less. Can you separate these words into
parts? Who said so? Raise your hand. (Half of the class raised their hands.)

Yes we can separate these words into parts.

We have the
 unsafe = un+safe

 roofless = roof+less
 lifeless = life+less
All: Two

Very good, what are these parts? Yes Ana.
(Ana raise her hand)
Ana: the root word and the affixes ma’am.
B. Establishing a purpose Very good, these parts are the root words and
for the lesson the affixes.
What are the root words of each word in the (Jim raise his hand)
sentences? Jim: The root words are safe, willing, roofless and
life ma’am
Very good! What happens to the meaning of
the words when the word un- and less were (Kim raise her hand)
added? Kim: The meaning of the word was changed
ma’am.
Very good Kim.
Therefore, affixes are words added to a root
word that changes the meaning of the root
word.
There are affixes added at the beginning of the
word. There are also affixes added at the end
of the word.
These are the words “un” and “less”
The affix un- means “not” and the affix “less”
means without or none.
Do you understand class? All: Yes ma’am

What is the meaning of the affix “un”? All: not ma’am

How about the affix “less”? All: without or none ma’am
Very good!
Can we add affix at the beginning of the word? All: Yes, we can.
How about at the end of the word? All: We also can ma’am.

Very good! Let’s proceed.

instances of the new lesson Unsafe means “not safe”.
When we get the root word “safe, the
meaning will be changed. Do you
understand? All: Yes ma’am

How about the affix -less?

Affix “-less” means without or none.
For example, Lifeless. Lifeless means without
life. All: Yes ma’am
