BSC6900 GBAM-to-GOMU Replacement Guide OverviewOverview

1 Overview

This guide helps you to replace the GBAM server with the GOMU and is applicable to the
following two scenarios:
 The GBAM is not fully damaged and you can back up data on line.
 The GBAM is fully damaged and you cannot back up data on line (there must be backup
database files).

The operations in this guide must be performed locally.

You must stop the OMU during the operation. Therefore, communication between back
administration module (BAM) and front administration module (FAM) is interrupted,
and communication between the LMT/M2000 and BSC host system is interrupted. In
this case, you cannot maintain the BSC host system or collect the information such as
alarms; however, the BSC host system operates normally.
Electron devices are vulnerable to ESD impairment. Wear an ESD wrist strap correctly
before the installation, and connect the ESD wrist strap to the ground point (the ESD
jack on the cabinet).

 If the GBAM is damaged and you cannot maintain data, prepare data offline.

3.4.1 Online Data Backup

To back up data on line, do as follows:
9. Planning the IP Address and gateway
To obtain the IP address and gateway information, do as follows:
a. Log in to the Web LMT, and then run the DSP OMU command. The computer name of
the GBAM server, external fixed IP address ,internal virtual IP address ,external network
virtual IP address and external network mask are obtained.

If the external network fixed IP address is not configured, the system displays NULL. In this case,
Huawei engineers need to apply for an IP address from the customer, and this IP address is in the same
network segment as the external network virtual IP address for the fixed IP address of the external
network.
b. Log in to the PuTTY, and then run the route command of the Linux operating system.
The default gateway address of the GBAM server are obtained.
c. Planning the IP Address for GOMU board.
Plan the IP address of the OMU according to the IP address of the GBAM and the planning
rules of each IP address (see Table 1.1).

Table 1.1 Planning rules

OMU IP Address Planning Principle

External fixed IP  The external fixed IP address and the external virtual IP address of
address the OMU must be in the same network segment.
 The external fixed IP address of the OMU must not conflict with
the IP addresses of other devices.
Internal fixed IP  The internal fixed IP addresses of the active and standby OMUs
address must be in the same network segment and different from each other.
 The internal fixed IP addresses of the active and standby OMUs
must be XY.168.3.50 and XY.168.3.60 respectively. The mask must
be 255.0.0.0.
 The default XY network segment is 80. This network segment can
be changed but must be consistent with that of the internal virtual IP
address. After changing the network segment, you must reset the
BSC. Other network segments must not be changed.
 Two IP addresses can be flexibly allocated to the active and standby
OMUs.
