Culture

 NE Venture Capital Fund - - total corpus of Rs. 100 crores to empower entrepreneurs
and encourage start-ups in NER.

MSMEs

 Compulsorily procurement, by all PSUs, of 25% from MSMEs (instead of 20%) of


their total purchases. Out of the 25%, 3% reserved for women entrepreneurs. All CPSUs to
compulsorily procure through GeM portal.
 The Prime Minister said that there are 5 key aspects for facilitating the MSME
sector: access to credit, access to market, technology up gradation, ease of doing business,
sense of security for employees.
 Interest subvention of 2% for all GST registered MSMEs on fresh or incremental loans.
 Establishments to be visited by an Inspector will be decided through a computerised
random allotment.
 Scheme for Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) & National SC/ST
Hub.
 ASPIRE (A Scheme for Promotion of Innovation, Rural Industry and Entrepreneurship) -
aim to set up 100 livelihood business incubators and 20 technology business incubators
 ‘Sweet Revolution’ - to increase the production of honey, KVIC has launched the honey
mission
 Udyam Sangam and Udyam Samvad – two conferences held

Electronics and IT

 Ease of Living of the citizens is at the core of Digital India


 Through Aadhaar, the Government has provided digital identity to 122.9 crore residents
of the country with 99% coverage of adult population as on 30th November, 2018.
 In November, 2018, transactions of value ₹ 7,981 crore were made using BHIM app

Shipping

greater autonomy and modernization of institutional structure
 A centralized webbased Port Community System (PCS) has been operationalized

 Project Unnati - global benchmarks were adopted to improve the efficiency and
productivity Key Performing Indicators (KPIs) for 12 major ports.

Railways

 Smart Coach - Induction of technology for safety improvements. Smart Coach with
diagnostic system monitor bearing vibrations provides advance information on health of
bearing wheel & track.
 Complete switchover to LHB - Indian Railways have decided to completely switch over
to manufacture of LHB design main line coaches from 2018-19 onwards.
 Elimination of Unmanned Level Crossings on broad gauge
 Bridge Management System – A Web-enabled IT Application that will be a single IT-
based repository for all aspects related to bridges on Indian Railways viz. Master Data,
condition, inspections, design drawings, etc.
 Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs) : Work on both Eastern & Western
Dedicated Freight Corridors progressed on full speed during the year culminating in
successful trial of freight train over Phulera- Atari section of Western Dedicated Freight
Corridor & Khurja- Bhadan section of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC). The
Dedicated Freight Corridor will be fully commissioned in phases by March 2020
 NE Connectivity Meghalaya connected with railways, Tripura and Manipur with broad
gauge lines. (Can be used in Qs related to NE also)
 Cleanliness Bio Toilets, Bio-Vacuum Toilets, Clean-My-Coach SMS Services, Coach Mitra
Initiatives
 Train 18 - indigenously manufactured of Semi High Speed (160 Kmph), Self-Propelled
Train-set.
 ‘Mission Raftar ‘ The mission envisages a target of doubling of average speed of
freight trains and increasing the average speed of all non-suburban passenger trains by 25
kmph in the next 5 years.
 Transforming Indian Railways into “Green Railways” - to electrify Broad Gauge
routes by 2021-22. Switch over to 100% LED on all Railway Stations.
 Elimination of Unmanned Level Crossings on broad gauge

Tribals

 Scheduled Tribes comprise about 8.6% of India's population (2011 census)


 Van Dhan Yojana – To promote MFPscentric livelihood development of about 5
crore tribal gatherers and artisans.
 Van Dhan Vikas Kendra – multi-purpose establishments, set up under Van Dhan yojana
for providing skill upgradation, capacity building training and setting up of primary
processing and value addition facility.
 Eklavya Model Residential School - by the year 2022, every block with more than 50%
ST population and at least 20,000 tribal persons, will have an Eklavya Model Residential
School. These will be on par with Navodaya Vidyalayas and will have special facilities for
preserving local art and culture besides providing training in sports and skill development.
To set up an Autonomous Society under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs similar to Navodaya
Vidyalaya Samiti to run these schools.

Urbanisation

 Government Motive - Urban Renaissance: Rejuvenating & Transforming


Indian Cities
 “Ease of Living” Index is an initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs
(MoHUA) to help cities assess their liveability vis-à-vis global and national benchmarks to
move towards an ‘outcomebased’ approach to urban planning and management. Index
is based on critical pillars of urban development (Physical, Institutional, Social and
Economic). It incorporates 78 indicators across 15 categories. 111 cities ranked.
 Smart Cities Mission – All 100 Smart cities have incorporated Special Purpose Vehicles
(SPVs)
 Swachh Survekshan 2019 - Urban areas of 21 States/UTs have been declared ODF.
‘ODF+ and ODF++ protocols’, with a focus on sustaining ODF outcomes.
 ‘Star Rating Protocol or garbage free cities’ - to motivate cities to achieve garbage
free status. It is a single metric rating system, based on 12 parameters of Solid Waste
Management.
 536 kms of Metro Rail Lines operational in 10 cities.
 Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihoods MISSION (DAY-NULM)
 Municipal Bonds - More than Rs. 2,700 crore raised through Municipal Bonds
 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) - more than 68.7 Lakh houses have been
approved so far.
 Affordable Housing Fund (AHF) was established in National Housing Bank (NHB)
with an objective to improve the affordability of the target group to own their homes
 28 States/UTs have set up Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA)
 AMRUT (Atal Mission For Rejuvenation & Urban Transformation) – Project on
water supply, sewerage, green spaces and parks sector, urban transport sector undertaken
 Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) being
implemented in 12 cities - Ajmer, Amaravati, Amritsar, Badami, Dwaraka, Gaya,
Kancheepuram, Mathura, Puri, Varanasi, Velankanni and Warangal. (Can be used in
Tourism related Qs also)

Agriculture

 Soil Health Cards - distribution of Soil Health Cards to farmers to optimise the use of
fertilizers. 9.5 crore cards made
 eNAM 585 markets that are linked to the eNAM network from 16 States and 2 UT's
 Model Contract Farming Act - to encourage contract farming through the State
Governments.
 GrAMS 22,000 Gramin Haats are to be upgraded to work as centres of aggregation and
for direct purchase of agricultural commodities from the farmers.
 “Per drop more crop” initiative to encourage drip/sprinkler irrigation for optimal
utilization of water.
 Micro Irrigation Fund A dedicated fund in NABARD with initial corpus of Rs.5000
crores to facilitate the States in mobilizing the resources for expanding coverage of Micro
Irrigation by taking up special and innovative projects
 “Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY)” to promote organic farming; Central
Sector Scheme entitled “Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern
Region”
 Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) - covers various types of risks from
pre-sowing to post harvest, provision for nominal premium.
 “Har Medh Par Ped” to promote agro forestry for supplementing farm income;
increase risk management and climate resilient agriculture
 RKVYRAFTAAR : Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) is aimed at strengthening
infrastructure in agriculture and allied areas.
 RKVY — RAFTAR Agribusiness Incubators (RABIs) : to promote agri-
entrepreneurship and agribusiness by providing financial support and nurturing the
incubation.
 PMAASHA scheme - The new Umbrella Scheme includes the mechanism of ensuring
remunerative prices to the farmers and is comprised of Price Support Scheme (PSS), Price
Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS) and Pilot of Private Procurement & Stockist Scheme
(PPPS)
 National Food Security Mission (NFSM) - for increasing the production and
productivity of food grain crops (rice, wheat, pulses, coarse cereals & nutri-cereals)
 Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) - Bee keeping has
been promoted under it as an additional source of income of farmers
 Rashtriya Gokul Mission to enhance milk production and productivity of bovines, to
make milk production more remunerative
 National Livestock Mission to increase productivity and genetic improvement of
livestock
 Blue Revolution with multi dimensional activities mainly focusing on fisheries
production, both inland and marine, is being implemented
 A revised strategy document for 2018-2030 for the National Mission for Sustainable
Agriculture (NMSA) [0ne of the 8 Missions in PM’s National Action Plan on Climate
Change]
 International Year of Millets by UN for 2023, proposed by India, endorsed by FAO.

Environment

 Prime Minister was awarded the United Nation's highest environmental honour -
Champions of the Earth Award.
 Green Good Deeds Campaign asked people to alter their behaviour to Green Good
Behaviour to fulfill their Green Social Responsibility.

 New Central Sector Scheme on ‘Promotion of Agricultural Mechanization for insitu
management of Crop Residue’ in the States of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and
NCT of Delhi.

Food Processing

 Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana - Mega Food Parks, Integrated Cold Chain,
Agro processing Clusters, creation of Backward and Forward Linkages.
 Operation Greens - outlay of Rs 500 crores to stabilize the supply of Tomato, Onion and
Potato (TOP) crops. It consists of
a. Short term Price Stabilisation Measures consisting of a provision of 50% of the subsidy on
Transportation and Storage facilities
b. Long Term Integrated value chain development projects - Post-harvest processing
facilities, AgriLogistics

S&T and R&D

 National Mission on Interdisciplinary CyberPhysical Systems (NMICPS) to be


implemented at a total outlay of Rs. 3660 crore for a period of five years. The Mission
addresses the ever increasing technological requirements of the society, and takes into
account the international trends and road maps of leading countries for the next
generation technologies.
 India-Israel Industrial R&D and Technological Innovation Fund (I4 Fund) -
This fund will extend support to joint R&D projects aimed to co-develop innovative
technology-driven products, services or processes that have potential for commercialization.
 Launch of Augmenting Writing Skills for Articulating Research (AWSAR), a new
initiative that aims to communicate and disseminate Indian research stories among masses
in a format that is easy to understand and interesting for a common person.
 A Draft Policy Document Scientific Research Infrastructure and Maintenance
Networks (SRIMAN) – that allows sharing of equipment among various government
agencies to ensure better utilisations of its research infrastructure.
 DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2018 - to establish the
identity of certain category of persons including the victims, offenders, suspects, under
trials, missing persons and unknown deceased persons and provides provision for
establishment of a DNA Regulatory Board (DRB)
 Mission program on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) – by Department of
Biotechnology
 Cattle Genomics programme was launched to improve the germplasm of Indian Cattle
breeds
 JIGYASA - CSIR Scientists Connecting with School Students

 National Sports University in Manipur is being established


 Decrease in the number of doping incidence brought India from 3rd to 6th place

are medal prospects in Olympics and other major international competitions and creation

 Rashtriya Yuva Sashaktikaran Karyakram (RYSK) - Eight Schemes are merged into
it such as Nehru Yuva
Kendra Sangathan, National Programme for Youth and Adolescent Development etc.
 National Service Scheme (NSS) - a Central Sector Scheme - development of personality
of youth through voluntary community service

 India attains global 4th and 5th positions in wind and solar power installed

 India now at 5th global position for overall installed renewable energy capacity.

Estimated savings due to implementation of Pahal is approximately Rs 50,000 crore.
 North East Region (NER) Gas Grid
 National Policy on Biofuels – 2018 - Categorization of biofuels as “Basic Biofuels” viz.
First Generation (1G) bio ethanol & biodiesel and “Advanced Biofuels” – Second Generation
(2G) ethanol, bio-CNG etc. Expanding the scope of raw material for ethanol production by
allowing use of sugarcane Juice, sugar & starch containing materials and damaged food
grains
 Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation (SATAT initiative)
- by organising Road Shows to promote Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) production and use
 Leapfrog directly from BSIV to BSVI fuel standards and BS-VI standards w.e.f.
