CHAPTER IV

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter presents the analysis and interpretation of gathered data. Each set of

data was analyzed, interpreted and implicated to shed light on the problem under

investigation.

PROFILE OF RESPONDENTS

One of the primary objectives of this study is to investigate the profile of the older

adults of barangay 62 – A Sagkahan Tacloban City, Leyte in terms of: age, sex, marital

status and monthly family income.

Table I shows the distribution of the respondent’s profile in terms of age, sex,

marital status and monthly family income.

HEALTH PERCEPTION

Another objective of this study is to assess the health perception of the older

adults in Barangay 62 – A Sagkahan Tacloban City, Leyte based on three (3) dimensions

namely; physical health, mental health and social health.

Physical Health

Table II shows the weighted mean and the corresponding qualitative description

of each statement about the status of the physical health of the respondents.

LIFESTYLE PRACTICES

Another objective of this study is to assess the lifestyle practices of the older

adults in Barangay 62 – A Sagkahan Tacloban City, Leyte based on two (2) dimensions

namely; nutrition and activities.

Nutrition

of each statement about the overall nutrition of the respondents.

The last objective of this study is to assess and determine the relationship between

the profile variables (age, sex, marital status and monthly family income) and the health

perception (physical health, mental health and social health) of the older adults in

Barangay 62 – A Sagkahan Tacloban City.
