 The Problem
Earth's lungs are on fire. The Amazon contains
20% of the worlds oxygen. By absorbing carbon
dioxide and releasing the oxygen, helps
stabilise Earth's climate and survival.
However, as of now, 93 000 fires have been lit
across the Amazon. From this deforestation,
excessive amounts of carbon dioxide will be
emitted into the atmosphere and will further
enhance the greenhouse gas effect,
consequently leading to increased global
warming.

Your Role
How will you overcome this problem?
You have been chosen to help rebuild the
Amazon through creating a mini terrarium
model. Throughout this experience, you will
investigate what it takes for a plant to be
successful in survival and the importance of
being sustainable in agricultural and home
environments.
 Generating Designs
You are to create a terrarium that either increases or
decreases the speed of growth of a plant, in comparison to
the first experiment. Through this investigation, you will
explore what factors enhance and/or inhibit growth. In
your designs, you must label what materials you choose
to use .

Specifications
You will get to choose a range of your own materials. for
this investigation. However, you do need: Transparent
container, Soil, Seeds, Water, Pebbles and Sunlight.

Evaluation
The whole investigation will take over 5 weeks to
complete. At the end, you will need to demonstrate that
you have observations, hypotheses, method and results.
You will also have to demonstrate your data in a graph
made on Excel. This will be all made on book creator.

Presntation
You will present all this information to the class for five
minutes explaining your individual investigation and the
results

Time
5 weeks: 1 lesson every week. Designs will begin in
lesson 3

Revise photosynthesis and build a
