STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR Open Circulating water Pump

OBJECTIVE: For Smooth Operation of Open Circulating Water Pump.
Pump

SCOPE: This SOP is applicable for two OCCW pump.

INTRODUCTION: Opened-cycle
cycle cooling water(OCCW) from the condenser circulating water inlet
pipe, through the OCCW pump pressure, supplied to users, and return to the circulating water return
pipe, this system mainly provide cooling water to the generator hydrogen cooler, the generator stator
cooling water cooler, MD-BFP BFP work oil cooler, lu
lubricating
bricating oil cooler, motor air cooler, A, B TD-BFP
TD
lubricating oil cooler, A, B condensate pump motor cooler, CCCW cooler, vacuum pump cooler, turbine
lubricating oil cooler, forced draft fan, induced draft fan, primary air fan, mill lube oil station, air
compressor and provide miscellaneous water to the turbine house.

7 Ensure Circulating water Pump is in Service

Ensure minimum auxiliaries coolers are to be charged for
8 sufficient flow through
gh pump as there is no recirculation valve

9 Check inlet rotating strainer is running normal

10 Ensure air venting of pump, and other piping is done.

11 in the breaker & put it in remote position.

Rack-in

12 Release the local Stop Push button (EPB).

13 Start the Pump, Discharge Valve should open automatically

Open Inlet MOV of other pump, put the other pump stand- by,


14 outlet valve will open automatically.

As per the requirement charge cooling system of individual

15 auxiliaries.

16 Close all line & pump air vents.

1. PLANNED SHUTDOWN : (STOPPING OF OCCW Pump)

1 Release Standby interlock from another Pump

2 Stop the Pump giving stop command from DCS, discharge MOV will be √
closed in Auto.

3 Check if the Pump is not rotating reversal √

2. Emergency operation Of OCCWP

1 It is necessary to shutdown the water pump for emergency. √

2 Cases:- √

a) Vibration in pump set and friction sound. √

b) Motor have smoke √

c) Bearing temperature exceeds the rated value

value- Check bearing oil level & √
quality, top-up if required.

d) Pump gland leakage √

Emergency shutdown

1 Press the emergency push button of faulted pumps immediately and pump
stops. √

2 Release the interlocking switch of faulted pumps and the operating pump √
should be normal. √

3 Report to the shift incharge and work order raised for removing the fault , √
put it into standby after removing fault. √
