I. OBJECTIVES
Illustrates the slope of a line. M8AL-Ie-4
Finds the slope of a line given two points, equation, and graph. M8AL-Ie-5
1. Find the slope of a line given two points, equation and graph.
2. Illustrate the four types of slope
3. Show active participation in class activities
III. PROCEDURE
1. Daily Routine
2. Review/Brain teaser
Direction: Find the proper place of each fish by rewriting the given equations into
slope intercept form.
𝟏
2x + y = 9 y=x+𝟑
𝟐
3x - y = 2 y=x+𝟑
3x -3y = -2
-3x + 3y -1 = 0 y = -2x + 9
y = 3x - 2
Group 2
1. Rewrite the equation -2x + y = 1 into slope intercept form.
2. Find the slope and y intercept of the equation.
Group 3.
1. Given the points, (0,1) and (1,3).
2. Find the value of y by subtracting the second value of y to the first.
3. Find the value of x by subtracting the second value of x to the first.
4. Write your answers in division/fraction form. Set the value of y as the numerator
and x as the denominator.
B. ANALYSIS:
Based from the activity try to answer the following:
1. Did you follow the directions carefully?
2. How did you come up with your answers?
3. If you didn’t follow the direction what might happen?
4. What did you notice from your answers?
5. For group 1, how would you describe your graph?
6. For group 2, how did you rewrite the equation?
7. For group 3, how did you find the value of x and y?
8. Can you define slope based from your activity?
C. ABSTRACTION:
1. What is a slope?
Slope is the measure of steepness.
2. How do we compute the slope of a line?
The slope m of a line can be computed by finding the quotient of rise and run. That
is, m = rise/run.
3. What is the formula in getting the slope using two points?
The slope m of the line passing through two points P1(x1, y1) and P2(x2, y2) is given
𝑦 −𝑦 𝑦 −𝑦
by m = 𝑥2 − 𝑥1 or m = 𝑥1 − 𝑥2 , where x1 ≠ x2.
2 1 1 2
4. Given an equation, how will you determine the slope?
If the given problem is in the form of an equation, first is to rewrite it into slope
intercept form (y= mx +b). The m value stands for the slope.
5. What are the 4 types of slope?
1. Positive
2. Negative
3. Zero
4. Undefined
Draw an image that shows a zero Find the slope of the points Create a short song about
slope. ( -2 , -4) , ( 0 , 3). the 4 types of slope.

IV. EVALUATION:
Directions: Find the slope of the given problem and identify what type of slope.
POINTS SLOPE TYPE OF SLOPE
1. (1, 2) and (3, 4)
2. x + 5y = 10
3. (-2,4) and (5, 2)
