LEARNING ACTIVITY 2
These people are facing changes in their life. Read their situations below:
I don’t really feel comfortable with this new idea of telecommuting. I wish I
could come to the office every day I have done for the past 5 years.
My name is Amanda. I am a hairdresser. I work in
a beauty shop in the north of the city. I am a single
mother and have two beautiful sons. Mike is nine
and Steve is two. While I work, my mother takes
care of my sons. She has always supported me.
But now my mom is really sick. The doctor
recommended her moving to a quieter place. So,
she is moving in with my brother who lives in a
small town. If my mother moves, I will probably
have to quit my job as I don’t have anybody to
take care of my kids. I wouldn’t leave them with a
stranger, especially the little one. Fuente: SENA

Dear Gary
Hello Gary, my name is Yara Elenis, I am a virtual instructor of the Seine, I read your
story and it caught my attention and I would like to make some suggestions that
might work for you, because when I started working as a virtual instructor, at some
point I felt insecure, I thought that things would be very complicated and the
interaction would be very impersonal, but I found that everything was very different
from what I imagined, and I adapted quickly, it seemed to me that things improved
more, due to the facilities and advantages that today give you the TIC.
If you give yourself a chance to change, you may realize it has its advantages, work
from home, you can manage your work schedule, and you can perform other
activities that by being in the office you could not do as you sign up for a gym, or Go
running in the morning, which will allow you to meet new people with whom you can
interact and make new friends and not depend so much on the colleagues you have
in your work.
Finally, I suggest you take a risk and open yourself to new challenges, and you will
end up realizing, that the changes at the beginning can be traumatic, but later you
can see that it was the best thing that happened to you and that if you had not risked
you would have lost of many new things.
Not being more I hope that you serve my advice. Cheer up Gary!
Sincerely:
Yara Elenis
