LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 10

Content Standards:
The learner protects oneself from the dangers brought about by different regions/forms of
electromagnetic spectrum.

Performance Standards:
The learner shall demonstrate an understanding of the different regions of the electromagnetic
spectrum.

Learning Competency:
Compare the relative wavelengths of different forms of electromagnetic waves.

I. Objective:
At the end of 60 minutes, 100% of the learners are expected to:
1. Use the wave equations in calculating EM wave’s frequency, wavelength and energy.

II. Content:
Subject Matter: Calculating Wavelength, Frequency and Energy of EM
Waves
Integration:
Mathematics – Solving Word Problems
ESP – Pagharap ng mga problema/pagsubok

Strategies: Cooperative Learning, Drills

References:
Learner’s Material pp. 146-147
III. Learning Tasks:

ELICIT(Access prior knowledge ) Materials

A review on the electromagnetic spectrum will be done. Students will be asked
to fill in the electromagnetic spectrum with the corresponding EM Waves in the Sequence Chart,
sequence chart. EM Waves strips

ENGAGE(Get the students’ minds focused on the topic)

Ask the students:
 How do we solve problems?
 How do we derive equation?

 Note: Presentation of the Lesson Objectives follows

EXPLORE(Provide students with a common experience)
The teacher will present the wave equations: Visual aid, Word
problems, calculator
a. V = λf
b. E = hf
Afetrwards, these equations will be applied in solving word problems which the
teacher has presented.

EXPLAIN (Teach the concept. Should include interaction between teacher and
students).

The students will be grouped into five. Through collaborative activity, the
students will solve word problems on frequency, wavelength and energy. Board and chalk,
calulator
The teacher will ask volunteers to present their answers.

ELABORATE (Students apply the information learned in the Explain. The teacher
will give inputs to deepen the understanding of the students) 10 minutes
The teacher will facilitate a bigger group discussion.

Using the results of the word problems, the class will determine the
relationship of EM wave’s frequency, wavelength and energy.

EVALUATE (How will you know that the students have learned the concept?) 5
min.

In a ½ crosswise piece of paper, solve the problem:

1. The energy for a quantum of light is 2.84 x 10 -19. What are the
wavelength and the frequency of this light?

EXTEND (Deepen conceptual understanding through use in new context). 5

minutes
Another practice exercise:

1. A certain photon of light has a wavelength of 422 nm. What is the

frequency of the light? Also, find the energy of the photon of light.

Reflection:
A. No. of learners achieve 80%: ____
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation: ___
C. Did the remedial lessons work? ___
D. No. of learners who have caught up the lesson: ___
E. No. of learners who continue to require remediation: ___
F. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these work? ___
G. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor help me solve? ___
H. What innovation or localized materials did I used/discover which I wish to share with other teacher?
___
