Causes of Poverty

The main causes of poverty in the

country are:
 low to moderate economic growth ;
 low growth elasticity of poverty reduction;
 weakness in employment generation and the quality of jobs
generated;
 failure to fully develop the agriculture sector;
 high inflation during crisis periods;
 high levels of population growth;
 high and persistent levels of inequality (incomes and assets),
which dampen the positive impacts of economic expansion;
 Recurrent shocks and exposure to risks such as economic
crisis, conflicts, natural disasters, and “environmental
poverty.”
 Some theorists have accused the poor of having little concern
for the future and preferring to “live for the moment”; others
have accused them of engaging in self-defeating behaviour.
 Still other theorists have characterized the poor as fatalists,
resigning themselves to a culture of poverty in which nothing
can be done to change their economic outcomes.

Introduction
 Poverty is the pronounced deprivation of
well-being. It is not being able to
satisfy ones basic needs because one
possesses insufficient money to buy
services or lacks the access to
services.

 Absolute poverty refers to the state of

severe deprivation of basic human needs,
which commonly includes food, water,
sanitation, clothing, shelter,
healthcare, education and information.

 Relative poverty refers to as being

below some relative income threshold,
where this threshold differs for each
society or country. One may be
relatively poor, without being in the
state of absolute poverty; relative
poverty is often considered as an
indirect measure of income inequality.

Assignment # 1:
The poem, in retrospect, is relatable, for me and to all of us. The poem tells
the story of a man in his lowest point during his lifetime. We too have our lowest
points. Every day we go through Hell by going to school, yes, it is Hell if you're just
forcing yourself to go to school if you're forcing yourself even if you're clearly tired if
you're constantly pressured to have high grades and be the top of the class. Life can
be like Hell similar to what Dante experienced. The phrase ''Abandon all hope, all
who enter'', is like another point in our lives where we are about to make a wrong
decision and hope for the best while expecting the worse. Ante-inferno, a place of
cowards, in which we are. Sometimes we admit to denying things, sometimes we
refuse to take sides because we're afraid, we just want to play it safe. We wait for the
better things and go along with it and when the bad comes we slowly drift away from
it. Sometimes we lose our dignity and integrity. Where in times of crisis, we
desperately cling into something not knowing the consequences, much like how the
souls desperately plead Charon to take them to Hell, not knowing that it could be
much worse there than the place that they are currently in.
