Two-day Workshop on
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) tool is used to identify and minimize possible risks in the design of products
and processes while in the development phase. FMEA has established itself in many economic sectors as the leading
tool for cost optimization and error avoidance. FMEA as per definition is an analytical method of risk management
through which possible design or manufacturing errors are assessed according to their significance, probability of their
occurring and detection. NASA has actively employed this tool in their Apollo Projects.
• The six steps of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis helps you to keep the organization goal always in mind’s eye
• During development, long before the planning results are realized, potential root cause-error-consequential
relationships are identified, and their occurrence is minimized
• It is therefore always a matter of anticipating potential risks or errors.
• The next step is to minimize the occurrence probabilities of these potential root cause-error-consequence
relationships. For this purpose, measures supportive to development are defined.
WORKSHOP COVERAGE
LEARNING OUTCOME
This two-day Workshop on Failure Mode and Effects Analysis will delve into the different dimensions and aspects of
when FMEA should and should not be performed
• Scoping, Structure analysis, Function analysis, Failure analysis, Risk analysis and Optimization
• Rating scales
• Example of FMEA for Service
• Example of FMEA Product design
• Example of FMEA Manufacturing process
• How to alter FMEA challenges into capable risk management work tools / processes
• CERTIFICATE will be awarded at the end of workshop.
PEDAGOGY
The sessions will be covered through lectures, case studies, group exercises, use of software in preparation of FMEA will
be demonstrated. Experience sharing will be the part of the session. The participants will make presentations for the
group exercises during the workshop.
• Winfried Dietz is the founder and executive partner of DIETZ Consultants, which has subsidiaries in Asia and North
America. He is responsible for developing the FMEA business portfolio. Winfried Dietz has more than 30 years of
practical experience, and he has spent 25 of those as an international consultant, trainer and coach. His other
fields of expertise include APQP, 8D, PPAP as well as functional safety and its correlations.
• Winfried Dietz organizes the well-known International FMEA Forum in Germany and is familiar with all industry
sectors using FMEA, such as Automotive, Medical Devices, Electronics and many more.
• This program addresses the need for early identification and assessment of risks during design or development
phase of new products or services. FMEA is widely used in automotive and manufacturing domains. These days
FMEA is sought after by medical technology, food and packaging, chemical, transportation, systems security and
energy industries.
• This Workshop would be highly beneficial to Managers, Sr. Managers, DGMs, GMs and above from SME, MSME, mid-
size companies and entrepreneurs.
Participating Functions: We encourage diverse business functions to participate in the workshop. Heterogeneous
team from marketing, operations, new product development, quality, strategy, finance etc. can contribute to
better workshop results.
