Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) tool is used to identify and minimize possible risks in the design of products
and processes while in the development phase. FMEA has established itself in many economic sectors as the leading
tool for cost optimization and error avoidance. FMEA as per definition is an analytical method of risk management
through which possible design or manufacturing errors are assessed according to their significance, probability of their
occurring and detection. NASA has actively employed this tool in their Apollo Projects.

• Winfried Dietz is the founder and executive partner of DIETZ Consultants, which has subsidiaries in Asia and North
America. He is responsible for developing the FMEA business portfolio. Winfried Dietz has more than 30 years of
practical experience, and he has spent 25 of those as an international consultant, trainer and coach. His other
fields of expertise include APQP, 8D, PPAP as well as functional safety and its correlations.
• Winfried Dietz organizes the well-known International FMEA Forum in Germany and is familiar with all industry
sectors using FMEA, such as Automotive, Medical Devices, Electronics and many more.
