Recap: Last Week
Week 1:

● Photoshop tutorial
(juxtaposition and
appropriation)
● Update Folios
● Idea generation for final
artwork
What is on Today?
After today I will…

Understand: Experimentation and exploration of materials is vital for production.

Know:

● That artists use an array of materials to create art

● That artists experiment and explore before developing their artwork

Do:

● Experiment with cardboard, paper and various assemblage materials

● To document (photograph and annotate) your experimentation in your folios
Exploring Materials: Cardboard

James Lake: Cardboard Sculpture
CARDBOARD ART
WHY?

● Environmentally friendly
● Easy to manipulate
● Textures
● Accessible
● Inexpensive
● Multiple uses: draw, paint, sculpture,

Creating 3D
Art Challenge
In groups of 3…

Create something 3D out of cardboard and paper

Take it in turns to add 1 thing to your design and

then pass it in!

See what your group can come up with!

*You may want to take a photo and add this to your Folio*
Assemblage
What is Assemblage?
Making Art out of Everything! Recreating! Combining! Challenging!
Everyday objects!
The 3D version of Collages!?

Assemblage is a form sculpture that is made

up of ‘found objects’ that are arranged to create
artwork.

These objects can be anything organic or man-

made.

Wood, metal, bottles, cans, wires, rubbish, etc.

Sketching your Final Artwork
Grab an A3 piece of paper and have a go at sketching what you think you
might like your final artwork to look like.

You can either:

1. Sketch your final artwork on a full A3 page

OR

2. Sketch your final artwork on half of the A3 page and write comments on the
other side about your idea
At home:
● Continue to work on getting your Folio up to date
● Finish sketches of your idea for your final artwork
