Considering the changing dynamics of Architectural Professional

practice, how do you see the architect’s role evolving over time in
building construction?

The dynamics of architectural professional practice are inclining more towards the management -
dependent projects in contrast to traditional creative design- based projects. The scale of the projects is
changing. Larger firms tend to undertake projects that are more market-oriented and corporate based.
In response to such developments in the types of architectural projects, the digital practices are
becoming more common. Computer-aided designs and project management softwares are trending,
taking away the jobs of contractor and sub-contractors and proving to be more efficient.

In this time when dynamics of architectural practice are changing so drastically, it becomes more
important for an architect to know his identity. Where computer is able to undertake all the laborious
tasks of calculations and data management, it is the creative genius of an architect that will keep his
services indispensable in this digital age.In addition to the creative abilities, an architect should master
other skills like pro-active decision making, critical thinking, on-site troubleshooting etc. So that he can
maintain his status of a “Master Builder” that knows all aspects of the project from beginning to end.
