Education Consultant and Trainer 2005-present

Since 2005 I have been consulting and training educators, protective services candidates and
employees for companies such as Ford Motor Company on a range of issues such as leadership,
education policies, equity, inclusion and diversity along with an understanding on how to navigate
large education systems and work in diverse environments.

Principal, Vice Principal, Department Head, Teacher 1997-present

Thames Valley District School Board
During the last 24yrs I have mentored colleagues, built capacity with staff and helped developed
sound pedagogy for teachers to help students succeed.

Through my work in education I have managed and lead schools with up to 2000 students and 170
staff. I have supervised some of the most complex facilities in Ontario and have developed policies
and professional development programs for staff at those facilities.
My experiences include hiring and appraising staff, curriculum and program assessment, coaching
and mentoring, strategic planning, budget creation and increasing enrolment.

System wide I have been a member of several school review committees and have helped develop
policies for Indigenous programming, school improvement plans, assessment and evaluation,
innovation initiatives, special education programming, professional learning for school leaders,
transition planning for students into secondary school, policy writing for emergency response and
safe schools along with system wide gap analysis for inclusion and diversity.

Professional Experience continued

Professor, Fanshawe College, School of Public Safety 2014-2018

My core function was to teach/train Police, Fire and Emergency Services candidates a program that
focused on community-oriented service. Areas such as inclusion, diversity, dealing with the public,
de-escalation techniques and how to use community resources while working in an environment of
emergency services was a large part of the training. How to deal with challenging behaviours was a
large part of the program. I developed the curriculum, assessments, lectures and experiential
learning.

Instructor, Ontario Principal’s Council 2015-2017

I taught the Principal’s Qualification Courses to aspiring administrators focused on the Ontario
Leadership Framework. The focus of the curriculum was teaching the leadership skills, competencies
and how to operationalize them in a real setting. I used a variety of training strategies to have
candidates understand their leadership style and develop an understanding that leadership is
constantly evolving. The leadership component then spread to training on how to conduct
interviews, lead the instructional program, develop strategies for student success, parent
engagement and create a culture of learning for 21st Century skills which include problem solving,
critical thinking, collaboration and technology. Team building and how to work with staff were a
major part of the program.

Demonstrated Leadership

Served as President representing approximately 300 administrator’s system wide.
As President my role was to help implement professional development opportunities for Vice
Principals and Principals along with supporting those new to the role with inservices and support. I
also participated on system wide committees that had input into communications, school year
planning and staffing.

Executive Board Member, St Joseph’s Health Care Foundation 2015-2018

I consider it a privilege to have been able to serve on the Foundation Board for St. Joseph’s hospital
which strives to provide the highest quality healthcare to people. Being part of such a professional
team working to develop funds for the hospital that has impacted so many people was an experience
that helped me become more aware of the critical work and advanced technology used by the
institution. As a Board Member I helped developed connections for the staff to engage, reviewed
budgets, strategic planning goals, participated in visioning working sessions and received reports
from both the CEO of the Hospital and the Foundation Board.

As an Executive Board Member for Huron University College I was part of the oversight for the entire
University. This included receiving reports from the President, working on sub committees, having
input into policies that impact the operation of the University, its enrolment, course offerings, facility
and budget. I was a member of the Student Affairs Committee which was focused on the student
