 This course describes the new VMAX All Flash arrays. It includes a breakdown of the
configuration options, model differences and software options, and provides information on
scaling, ordering and availability.

 VMAX All Flash is re-engineered to leverage the densest flash possible delivering the highest
IOPS per TB per floor tile. The VMAX All Flash provides hyper-consolidation for mixed
workloads that demand consistently low response times, world-class business continuity
and disaster recovery and multi-dimensional scaling at IOPS, port, capacity and replication
levels.

VMAX All Flash provides appliance-like packaging with software included. V-Brick building
blocks offer two configurations, both consisting of dual-engine bays only. The new array is
available as the F Series which includes the base software bundle, and the FX Series which
includes an expanded software bundle.

This flexible offering supports mixed environments including IBM iSeries, Open Systems,
and Block and File environments.

 The VMAX All Flash configuration has been greatly simplified. V-Bricks are used as the base
configuration. A V-Brick consists of a VMAX3 engine, with two 120-drive Disk Array
Enclosures (DAEs). The usable capacity of a V-Brick is 53TB, consisting of (16) 3.84TB
drives when using RAID5 (7+1), or (32) 1.92TB drives when using RAID6 (14+2). To
increase capacity, Flash Capacity Packs can be added to a V-Brick. Each Flash Capacity
Pack is 13TB and consists of drive types based on the number of packs and protection
scheme used.

 VMAX All Flash is available in four models. F Series models, which includes the VMAX 450F
and the VMAX 850F, have base software included. Additional software can be added to
these models on an a-la-carte basis. The VMAX 450FX and VMAX 850FX models include
expanded software bundles in addition to the base software.

 The VMAX 450F model includes HYPERMAX OS, which includes Non-Disruptive Migration
(NDM) Tools, VVols, Inline Compression and Quality of Service (QoS). Also included with
the F model is Embedded Management, TimeFinder SnapVX, and an AppSync Starter Pack.
Optionally, additional software can be added to the 450F. The VMAX 450FX model includes
everything in the F package, along with D@RE, the full range of SRDF products, Storage
Resource Manager (SRM), eNAS, Unisphere 360, CloudArrayEnabler, AppSync Advanced,
and PowerPath. Optional software is also available for the FX package, as shown. The base
configuration for both the 450F and 450FX uses the VMAX3 200K engine, and includes a
1TB engine, (2) DAEs with 53TB usable capacity, and can scale up to (4) V-Bricks.

 Like the VMAX 450F, the 850F model includes HYPERMAX OS, Embedded Management,
TimeFinder SnapVX, and an AppSync Starter Pack. Optionally, additional software can be
added to the 850F. Likewise, the VMAX 850FX model includes everything in the F package,
along with D@RE, the full range of SRDF products, Storage Resource Manager (SRM),
eNAS, Unisphere 360, CloudArrayEnabler, AppSync Advanced, PowerPath and optional
software available with the 450FX package. The base configuration for both the 850F and
850FX uses the VMAX3 400K engine, and includes a 1TB or 2TB engine, (2) DAEs with 53TB
usable capacity, and can scale up to (8) V-Bricks.

 Scaling the VMAX All Flash systems includes adding capacity using Flash Capacity Packs,
and adding performance by adding additional V-Bricks. Each V-Brick contains two DAEs,
with a maximum of (240) 2.5” drives, achieved by adding Flash Capacity Packs to the V-
Brick.

 All VMAX3 data services are supported with VMAX All Flash, including OS support, local and
remote replication capabilities, management, and consolidation.

 VMAX All Flash provides appliance-based packaging of hardware and software for simplicity
and ease of ordering. The price structure is fixed, based on V-Bricks and Flash Capacity
Packs, and scales with capacity. A limited hardware warranty is included, and Premium
Maintenance is priced at 11% annually on hardware and included software list price.
Optional software maintenance is 18% of list price. Maintenance costs are guaranteed for 7
years.

 VMAX Sizer, the web-based sizing tool for VMAX3 configurations, now includes sizing
specifically for the VMAX All Flash models. Sizing a VMAX All Flash scenario has been
greatly simplified, due to the standard configuration used with the system.

VMAX Sizer as of February 16, 2016, using the Q3 2015 Service Release (SR) of HYPERMAX
OS 5977 (5977.691.684), with a Q1 2016 ePack (5560) added.
