The Parable of Jotham

And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over
you: the LORD shall rule over you.—Judges 8:23

"And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and
lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, ye men of
Shechem, that God may hearken unto you. The trees went forth on a time to anoint a
king over them; and they said unto the olive tree, Reign thou over us. But the olive tree
said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man,
and go to be promoted over the trees? And the trees said to the fig tree, Come thou,
and reign over us. But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and
my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees? Then said the trees unto the vine,
Come thou, and reign over us. And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine,
which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? Then said all the
trees unto the bramble, Come thou, and reign over us. And the bramble said unto the
trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow:
and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon."—
Judges 9:7-15

Mensahe:

Jotham himself represented a faithful remnant. The spiritual teaching

of the parable not only has a serious lesson for us in respect of the
exercise of gifts, but also carries a salutary warning for those who seek a
name and power among the saints of God.
PARABULA NG JORDAN

Pagtawid sa Ilog Jordan

Josue 3:1-17; 4:1-18

TINGNAN mo! Ang mga Israelita ay tumatawid sa Ilog ng Jordan! Pero

nasaan ang tubig? Kanina lang ay punung-puno ang ilog. Pero ngayon ay
wala nang katubig-tubig! Ano kaya ang nangyari? Alamin natin.

Nang dumating na ang oras para tumawid ang mga Israelita sa Ilog Jordan,
ganito ang ipinasabi ni Jehova kay Josue para sa bayan: ‘Dapat dalhin ng
mga saserdote ang kaban ng tipan at hayaang sila ang mauna sa atin.
Pagtapak nila sa tubig, hihinto ang pag-agos nito.

Kaya pinasan ng mga saserdote ang kaban ng tipan, nauna sila sa bayan
at tuloy-tuloy sila sa ilog. Napakalalim at napakabilis ng agos nito. Pero
nang sumayad ang paa nila sa tubig, ang tubig ay biglang huminto sa pag-
agos! Isa itong himala! Di nagtagal, at wala nang tubig na umaagos sa ilog!

Ang mga saserdote na nagpapasan ng kaban ng tipan ay nakatayo sa

mismong gitna ng ilog samantalang ang mga Israelita ay tumatawid sa
tuyong lupa! Nakikita mo ba sila sa larawan?

Nang makatawid na ang lahat, sinabi ni Jehova kay Josue na utusan ang
12 malalakas na lalaki para pumulot ng 12 bato mula sa lugar na
kinatatayuan ng mga saserdote sa gitna ng ilog. Ang mga batong ito ay
pagtutumpuk-tumpukin sa kampamento ng mga Israelita. Ito ay
magpapaalaala sa kanila tungkol sa himala. Si Josue ay nagsalansan din
ng 12 bato sa lugar na tinayuan ng mga saserdote sa gitna ng ilog.

Pagkatapos ay sinabi ni Josue sa mga saserdote na nagpapasan ng kaban

ng tipan: ‘Umahon na kayo sa Jordan.’ Pagkaalis-na-pagkaalis nila, ang
ilog ay muling umagos.

Ang apat na magkakaibigang ito ay ang mga sumusunod na hayop: ang
ibon, ang rabbit, ang unggoy at ang elepante. ANg apat na
magkakaibigang hayop ay magkakasundong nakatira at may respeto sa
isa't-isa. At dahil sa kanilang respeto sa isa't-isa at pagkakaibigan, ang
kanilang "bonding" ay nagging sanhi para magkaroon o magdala ng
napakaraming magagandang bagay sa kanilang probinsya sa Bhutan.

The Parable of the Dog Park

Once upon a time, there were three dog parks. To play in either of the two
nicest parks, a dog had to be part of the pack that ran the park and kiss the
ass of the Alpha Dog. The third park wasn’t anywhere near as nice, but the
possibility of being merged with one of the nicer parks, while attractive to
some of the dogs, was never attractive enough to enough of the dogs that
a merger could happen. To keep the smaller, less nice park from screwing
up what was a relatively good thing, the two Alpha Dogs would occasionally
send over some extra bones and treats, and the dogs in the crummy park
would chow done. The end.
