IS-9 dtd.21.08.2019 of Deputy Secy. to Govt. of India ,MHRD, Deptt. of SE & L,
New Delhi on the subject noted above and to say that Hon'ble Prime Minister on the
occasion of 73'd Independence Day has urged upon the nation to make India free
from single- use plastic which drastically impacts the environment in a harmful
way, A nation-wide campaign will be launched on 2nd October 2019 towards
making India free from single-use plastic

You are therefore requested to please issue necessary instruction to the field
functionaries to take appropriate steps to avoid usage of single-use plastic both
within & outside the school premises.

Sub: - Hon'ble Prime Minister's call to make India free from Single-use plastic.

Madam/Sir,
I
am directed to refer to Hon'ble Prirne Minister's address to the nation from the
ramparts of/. Red Fort on the i3'd Independence Day. In his speech, Hon'ble PM has urged
the nation to make India free from single-use plastic.

2. As we know, single-use plastic drastically irnpacts the environment in a harmful way.

Single-use plastic after usage is mostly dumped on land-fill sites, choking the water supply
and drainage system and damaging the errvironment due to its non-biodegradability. A
nation-wide campaign will be launched on 2nd October, 2019 towards making India free from
single use plastic.

3. You are, ti'erefore, requested to issue appropriate instructions to alt schools in your
State/UT to avoid the usage of single-use plastic, both within and outside the school
premises.
