State Introduction
Rajasthan is located on northwest part of India with a rich cultural history and a well-developed
culinary tradition based on traditional foods. Rajasthan is India's largest state by area (342,239
square kilometers and 10.4% of India's total area). The State shares a large boundary with Pakistan
and is surrounded on other sides by Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab.

Wheat, Bajra (pearl millet), and Maize are the major crops produced in Rajasthan. It produces a large variety of
spices and is the largest producer of Psyllium, Cluster bean, Fenugreek, cumin, mustard, pearl millet, moth
bean and Coriander. Rajasthan has 10% of the total livestock in India and is the second largest producer of milk
in India.

to the market.

Food Processing Units: About 10,000 units are operational in the micro and small scale
sector and approximately 75 units in the medium and large scale sector.

Government, five for coriander (Kota, Baran, Jhalawar, Bundi and
Chittorgarh) and five for cumin (Barmer, Jalore, Jodhpur, Nagaur and Pali)
Existing Industrial Areas/
SEZs Out of 344 Existing Industrial Areas, (as per RIICO -Rajasthan State
Industrial Development and Investment Corp), there are 26 Industrial
areas marked suitable for food processing industry.
There are six food parks in Rajasthan. One Mega Food Park in Ajmer and
five other in, Alwar, Kota, Jodhpur and Sri Ganganagar. Kota has two Agro

A number of industrial areas and food parks are available in the state for investors keen on
setting up food processing units in the state. The key food parks in the state include:

Cold Chains22:
The objective of the Scheme of Cold Chain, Value Addition and Preservation Infrastructure is
to provide integrated cold chain and preservation infrastructure facilities, without any
break, from the farm gate to the consumer. Below is the list of cold chains present in the
state:
Food Processing sector has been accorded the status of a Thrust Sector
under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme, 2014 (RIPS 2014) and
higher incentives and exemptions will now be available under RIPS 2014 to
the units in this sector.

exempted from power cut to the extent feasible.

Units set up in EPIP/Export Zone/IT Park are exempted from power cuts.
Interest Rebate/Subsidy The ceiling of subsidy amount increased from the present INR15 lacs.to
INR20 lacs. Thus subsidy will now be paid at the rate of 20% of eligible
fixed capital investment, subject to a maximum of INR20 lacs
Stamp duty & Registration fee Exemption (50% ) of stamp duty on purchase or lease of land and
construction/improvement on such land

Land Related Exemption (50%) on land tax for a period of seven years
Concession/Exemption 50% exemption of conversion charge payable for change of land use
Government land can be made available for projects which bring new

Reimbursement on The maximum limit is INR 15 lakhs per beneficiary / per year. This subsidy
will be available for three years

Technology up-gradation and 50% of the cost of development of new prototype subject to a maximum
of INR 20 lakhs for each undertaking in a year
