In the beginning there was the void; an endless expanse of nothingness,

where no songs were sung, and no music was played. Why was there a void, you
may ask? Fuck you, that’s why.

Anyways, from this need for entertainment, the eternal deity of all, Dino the
Great, sprung forth from the abyss.

With his omnipotence and infinite wisdom, he shaped a world out of the
nothingness: great worlds with bright stars, planets, moons, and all of the celestial
bodies; he saw what he had made and knew it was good. This was the first day of
creation.

On the second day, Dino created three great beings of power—lesser only to
himself—to control over his creations: Rhonda, Alison, and Brian. They became
judges of the universe, residing over their own spheres of existence; Rhonda with
the stars, Alison with the planets, and Brian with the void itself.

There would be no more days of creation after the second, however, only that of
destruction and despair; Rhonda, judge of the stars, saw herself as superior to her
brethren, and sought out more power over them. This interrupted the universal
balance of music, turning their major triad to a minor one.

With the idolverse threatening collapse, Dino the Great had no choice but to banish
Rhonda from the heavens, thus becoming ‘The Fallen Judge.’ From this point on,
she swore vengeance.

Balance in the universe was maintained for many centuries after this, and
civilizations and entire worlds began to rise up; the greatest of all being the
Kingdom of Saint John. In this land, lesser beings known as ‘humans’ began to
grow in populations.

Among the humans, there were three distinct groups: The Irvings, The Olands, and
the McCains. The Irvings were the most powerful group, famous for their skills in
speechcraft, destruction, and their cunning greed. The Olands were famous
brewmasters hailed across the land, but had a temper that led them into
murderous rages. Finally the McCains were an agricultural group of individuals,
who, although were considered the weakest of the three, controlled and respected
the earth, and as such gained much favour with supreme deities.

For years they lived in peace and harmony, until the Irving’s greed led to
them summoning the almighty judge Rhonda into the material plain of Saint John.
The Irving’s wished for the power to wipe out the other groups and become the
one ruler of Saint John. Rhonda obliged and gave them incredible strength, but not
as they expected; they became ghastly undead beings, their souls were stripped
from their bodies, and they became a dark army for Rhonda to seek revenge
against all of Dino’s creations. The next thousand years would mark the War of the
Gods.

The Olands and the McCains both had Brian, and Alison respectively, as their
patron Gods, and as such, were blessed with divine powers from them. Among
these two groups, many great heroes that took part in the war stand out as being
especially powerful: this was due to their status of being demigods.

Of the Olands came the great barbarian lord Drake, blessed by Dino the Great
himself with the might of ten men; he as fought armed soldiers with his bare
hands and came out victorious.

Of the McCains, came the namesake of their patron, Alison: a fiery haired
Amazonian who fought back the hordes of undead Irvings in order to keep her
family and people safe.

However, even with great warriors, the McCain’s and the Oland’s were
unable to hold back Rhonda’s army of Irvings forever, and they were pushed back
to their sacred temple to Dino for their last stand.

As thousands of mortals were killed, the Gods could no longer stand back and
watch the slaughter; The Grand Judges Alison and Brian came down and fought
alongside the McCain’s and the Oland’s, and Dino himself manifested in the
material plane and wove great magic to trap Rhonda’s spirit in the city’s
amphitheater.

With Rhonda’s temporary defeat, the armies of the Irvings retreated, and Saint
John was saved from utter destruction.

It wasn’t a complete victory, however: being a Grand Judge herself, Rhonda fought
against Dino’s magic, and without constant supervision by powerful beings, would
inevitably escape.

Dino and the other Grand Judges then came up with a solution to this
problem: every week, at the prison amphitheater, a contest would be held for the
most powerful mortals—Irving’s, Oland’s, and McCain’s alike. This tournament of
singing and music would provide enough spiritual energy to keep Rhonda
imprisoned, so long as the Irving’s didn’t win the final challenge.

Each tournament would last a whole season: beginning on the summer equinox and
ending in the fall. Each week, mortals from all walks of life would compete, and
after every week, one would be gruesomely eliminated in a sacrifice to keep the
Grand Judge trapped.
