English8Encounters: A Reflective Journal

We need to go out of our comfort zone in order for us to succeed and to overcome the challenges.

In my grade 8 English Journey it started very good when I found out that Sir Don Oliveria will be my grade 8
English teacher. We have gone through many challenges like good times and bad times. In the beginning of the first
quarter I thought that the grade 8 English would be very hard. In the second quarter I started to realize that English 8 is
not hard but it was challenging. We have gone through elocution, entertainment speech, impromptu speaking and the

broadcasting. We have gone through all of these with the help of our supportive English teacher. English 8 journey was

one of the best experience in my entire English high school so far.

At first I must be thinking that grade 8 English is hard because of what I see, sir Don told us about our Pt’s and

other activities for the school year, then I got scared because I was thinking that I can’t do it, but with the help of my

English teacher and classmates I have overcome all of the challenges. I was also thinking that grade 8 English would be
hard for me because I am scared and shy to be in front of the class and all of our Pt’s is done in front of the class. I was

scared at first, then I learned how to do all the performance task and gained confidence to do my Pt’s in front of the

class.

Now at the fourth quarter I have realized that in life we must conquer our fears and try to do what we are afraid

of and we need to go out of our comfort zone in order for us to succeed and to overcome the challenges. We must not

be afraid of what may happen to us, let us serve it as an inspiration so that we will be inspired to do our best and to
conquer our fears. I have also realized that in life we have to take the obstacles or problems as a lesson that we will be

able to get something from it in order for us to overcome that obstacle and let that obstacle serve as an inspiration.

We need to be brave in order for us to overcome challenges in life, we need to think positive and always think
of the brighter side because in this way we will have a higher chance of succeeding in life. Be confident, be brave and
always think positive.
