Lesson aims:
 use correctly the idioms and phrasal verbs
 choose the best answer
 act out a dialogue
 discuss and express opinions

Skills: reading, writing


Materials: textbook, workbook, handouts
Possible drawbacks:
 SS may have some problems in using phrasal verbs
 Ss may be confused of some new words

ACTIVITY 1 (reading and speaking)


Aims:
 raise awareness of the meaning of idioms
 develop vocabulary skills
 prepare Ss for reading activity

PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING


- the Ss are asked to see some pictures with proverbs Frontal 5 min
which contain idioms and make sentences .

ACTIVITY 2 (reading and writing)


Aims:
 raise Ss awareness of the idioms and phrasal verbs
 match the phrasal verbs with their meanings
 develop skills needed to answer this type of exercises

PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING


- the Ss are asked to match items to make idioms and Pairwork 5 min
then use them,in their correct form from ex6/216
- the Ss have to replace the underlined words and Pairwork 5 min
expressions with one of the fixed forms ex 7/216
-Ss match the phrasal verbs with their meanings
ex8/216
ACTIVITY 3 (reading and speaking)
Aims:
 act out a dialogue
 read for specific details

- the Ss are asked to read the text about The All-New Frontal 5 min
BMP 715 Pairwork 5 min
- the Ss have to use the language from the box,and act
out a dialogue Pairwork 5 min
- the Ss have to act out a dialogue between a
dissatisfied customer and the customer services
representative at the cellular phone company

ACTIVITY 4 (reading and writing)


Aims:
 raise Ss awareness of the phrasal verbs
 revise the phrasal verbs
 raise Ss awarenss of the idioms

- the T gives Ss handouts to choose the correct answer Individual work
- the Ss have to fill in the correct form of one of the
phrasal verbs from the box Pairwork 17 min
- the Ss complete the dialogue with the phrasal verbs
from the box

Teacher gives home assignment : the T gives Ss handouts and they will have to choose one which
expresses the meaning of the idiom/phrase. -3 min
