LO3 – Understand the role and responsibilities of key personnel

P3

Explain the health and The employers have some duties under the Health and Safety at
safety responsibilities Work Act 1974 to provide services to the patients. The employer must
of employers maintain a framework to provide services to the patients accordingly
(Longest, and Darr,2008). They should focus on maintaining the
health and safety act to the operations. This will make the clinic a
better workplace for the care staffs. They should install protective

for the clinic. They must also devise an object oriented plan to serve
the patients. The care staffs should be trained according to the
planning. Thus they can make them efficient. They must also provide
benefit programs to the care staffs to motivate them. Again, they
should train the care staffs about the harmful effects of different
medicines from time to time. this will help them reduce their problems.
Again they should be more focused on preparing a risk assessment for

have health and safety and safety to the care workers. The manager regularly focuses on the
responsibilities health policies and regulations. Thus they can have an idea to
implement health and safety procedures to the clinic. The manager
also ensures providing proper facilities to the clinic for maintaining

Select an organisation you are familiar with and answer the questions below

Who are they key The London Clinic has become very popular in the health industry
people in this nowadays. It has 750 employees including physicians, administrative
organisation officers, nurses, staffs, student nurses in training, care coordinator
responsible for health and trainer(Thelondonclinic.co.uk, 2017). The employees focus highly
and safety? on maintaining health and safety for the patients. They are highly
skilled and trained by the experienced officers to solve diversified
problems of the patients.
Describe their roles
The administrative officers perform the administrative work of the
and responsibilities
clinic with due responsibilities. They focus on the problems of the
patients and transfer them to the unit according to their diseases. The
physicians maintain the health and safety issues to take care of the
patients (Bell, 2010). They focus highly on the problems of the
patients and provide prescription according to that. Again, the nurses
are the careers of the patients while they are in the clinic. They provide

the care staffs about new methods of medication. They try to follow the
existing rules and regulations for maintaining health and safety within
the clinic. Thus they are responsible for increasing the efficiency and
productivity of the care staffs.

LO4- Be able to assess and manage risk

P4/M3

Design and create your own risk assessment form for an office work environment

The design of the risk assessment form is shown below:

The risk assessment form for myself has been depicted below:
Carry out a risk assessment using the form you have created
As a coordinator of the clinic, I have to analyse my own risk assessment for working in the
London Clinic. It will help me to check my work related risks. The risk assessment for myself has
been described below:

The risk assessment form has shown that I am exposed to risks like falling, fire accidents,
physical injuries and breach of the law. I may fall in on the floor while my duty due to slip or
lighting lack. The poor housekeeping has made the problem here. I must focus on guiding the
staffs to maintain housekeeping properly. There should be provided adequate lighting facilities.
thus the risk can be minimized.

I may also get exposed to the fire risks. The clinic may be damaged due to the fire incidents.
Normally water is used to avoid the loss incurred by fire incidents. To avoid the fire loss, the
clinic must establish emergency fire exits for the employees. I should take training on how to
reduce the losses of fire incidents. Thus I should manage the risks of fire incidents.

I may get physical injuries due to accidents. I use the equipment on my experiences. I have no
training on conducting medical equipment. So, I must have to receive more training on this issue.
This will increase my efficiency and productivity by reducing the potential risks.

Again I may be liable to breach of health and safety regulations. Presently the regulations are
guided by the manager. The managers set the health and safety regulations by studying the
regulations by the authority. To avoid the risk, I should have a focus on the maintenance of the
regulations.

The patients may suffer from medicine reaction through improper guidelines. I generally provide
medicine to the patients according to the physician’s prescription. I need to take training on
medicine for serving the patients. Thus I can avoid such risks.
